One fateful day... everything changed forever...~I was almost finished the doctorate I'd been working on for several years. Well, the outcome wasn't soo bad anyway. I was TRYING to use molecular mass accelerators to change any molecule into energy. Think of it! I would have been able to glean pure, untainted energy out of any substance in the universe. I didn't expect to be able to do that PERSONALLY.~Long story short, my assistants were careless. They told me the machine was powered down as I ran that final pre-check. Instead, I was drawn directly into the beam, and thus became in that instant... pure energy. The mass accelerator was quickly shut down and my body returned to normal... well almost.~I've made a horrifying and exciting discovery at the same time. I have accidentally caused myself to become more than I had ever imagined!~I now realize everything can be turned into energy... and can be used... however I want...

Due to Carrack's power of transferring ANY matter into energy, the power of his attack is measured by the level of energy he absorbs from an object. For example, turning a missile into pure energy would yield nearly the same damaging effect, while a rock would simply annoy an adversary. On the other hand, if something truly powerful was nearby, such as a nuclear bomb or even a large comet, Carrack could call down a wave of pure energy large enough to destroy anthing from one city to an entire planet.~This attack is can be focused through any part of Carracks body, since it in itself is a conduit for this pure energy (i.e. could focus energy tightly through his eyes to pierce tank armour, or "throw" it from the palms of both hands to do slightly less damage, but over a larger area than a small, more focused beam.
