That boy's something else, I'll tell you. Ever since he was six my wife and I brought him along with us on our adventures. He really seemed to enjoy life on the road, wandering the jungles and deserts of remote planets. He adjusted well to our buisness as well, really adapting to a life my wife and I both felt might be hard for such a young child. When we ventured upon that tribe of cannibals in the Forest of Besht, he was the one to suggest offering our tour guide and hired help as offerings to the tribe's chieftan in return for being inducted into their society. That was the moment when I was sure he was ready to be told the full truth. His mother and I had a taste for the rare and the mysterious. We hunted down artifacts, lost civilizations, and other remnants of the universe's forgotten past. For a price, of course. Of course, no cost deterred our quest as well. I was so proud of my son when he plunged the dagger into his mother's heart in order to open the Gates of Atlantis when we began our latest journey. I hesitated for a moment, unwilling for just a moment to do the act. But Chance pushed me aside and did what I could not without a thought. Perhaps he did so with too much enthusiasm, though. He smiled as he did his duty. A smile I know neither myself or his mother ever wore while on the job. I guess I deserve my fate then, don't you think? After aquiring the artifact we needed from the Catacombs of Atlantis, Chance used the artifact to send me here. I'm honored you would take the time to listen to my story, my new Lord. (Darius Ikkoshi, as he spoke to Beelzebub, right before being sent to the 8th Circle of Hell)

Personality: That little snot-nosed fiend? How the bloddy hell does a kid get that damn sinister. I knew the kid's father. A bit seedy and... well... Ok, the bloke was a criminal, but he was a good drinking buddy if you were on his good side. And his mother. Damn gorgeous woman, she was. She's slit your throat if it meant getting a hold of something from ancient Annosh dynasty, but she mothered that brat like a real mother should. But... damn man... what kind of son sacrifices his mother and banishes his father to Hell? What? Ask him myself? Are you daft? I'm not getting near that demonseed. Not even for... oh? He is? Well, can't have him getting his hands on that, now can we? I've been looking for that for months now, can't have him steal it out from under my nose. Still, I'd rather shoot the kid than take any gambles. (Aleister Michaels, over a drink, getting suckered into going after Chance by a mysterious employer)

This child approached me at my office one day. I knew who this child was, having worked for his father on many occassions. His father always spared me the suffering he tended to bestow upon most of his other hired help. Never did I become the shiend against enemy fire, or the offering to some pagan god. I was too skilled to be sacrificed. Darius always made sure he hired enough deadbeats or locals for such positions. Thus I was all to eager to join my former employer's son on his latest quest. To attain the Five Keys of the Dreamtime, I believe. Not that it matters, buisness is buisness, and Chance has payed me quite hansomely. Moreso than his father did, that's for sure. (Ryan Dukakis, Leader of the Galant Wolves, from his personal logs)

(Ryan Dukakis, former Leader of the Galant Wolves, killed by Chance Ikkoshi as part of a ritual)

Annosh: The First Key

  • Power: Bio Vampire

When we arrive at Atlantis, we will need to you this, Chance. This is the Dagger of Annosh, used by the God Emperor Yissik Hyan-Annosh himself 10,000 years ago to perform his rites of sacrifice. Just grasp the blade like so. See? Each finger must be placed in the right position in order for the soul device to be triggered. Yes. This dagger has the ability to drain away life. And channel it into the user? Why, yes. Good deduction, Chance. According to Annoshen philosophy, the fingertips are the entrance into the body's soul. Through those extremeties, the dagger allows the sacrifice's soul to enter your own, so you can use their lifeforce as you desire. Your father will be doing just that to open the Gates of Atlantis. Who will be the sacrifice? Why, one of the men we hired, of course. (Naomi Ikkoshi, to her son, unaware that only "special" individuals could be sacrificed to the gods of Atlantis)

Atlantis: The Second Key

  • Power: Disintegration

  • Armor Piercing This attack ignores normal defenses which are not Reinforced.
How could I have helped? I was lucky to manage stowing away on their submarine without getting caught, I wasn't going to reveal myself to help the woman. I did turn my eyes, though. Gruesome sight to see a kid kill his own mother, I wasn't too keen on having THAT sight plague my dreams or crap like that. But enough of that. I was there to steal away the Gauntlet of Neptune from the Ikkoshi family and sell it for a handsome price to some buyers that, in retrospect, probably would have done less damage with it than that Ikkoshi kid. They just wanted to off some rival "buisness associates," not begin gathering artifacts for some damn pagan ritual. Ick. I don't like that stuff. Pity I ran into that squad of undead Atlantean footsoldiers that were ressurected the moment the Gate was opened. And I had a head start on the kid and his dad up until then too! I made it just in time to see the kid put the Gauntlet on and vaporize his dad. Didn't get to turn my eyes in time there. Darius just... vanished. Poof. At the time I figured "not as bad of a fate as the kid's mom," but then I heard from Alex that the Gauntlet doesn't just vape you, but sends you to that bad place all us... I mean all those bad guys and criminals go when they die. Yeah. Sucks to be Darius. (Bas Swar, to Alestier Michaels, right before Aleister swindlers her into joining him in hunting down Chance)

Irteh: The Third Key

Oh boy... I know a few people that'll be pissed when they hear this. Al's just one of them. The Amulet of Irteh, huh? Isn't that the bugger that does all that messed up animalistic tribal voodoo on the wearer? Some spirit talisman that turns the wearer's spirit into that of an animals, makes them go all primal and such. Really releases those inhibitions we humans build up, just in some violent, mindless manner. Not in the way I prefer, eh? Hell if I know why you'd want to wear that thing. Just sounds like a bad hangover without all the fun leading up to it. (Alexander Young, to a certain aquaintance, too drunk to realize he too has been suckered into the quest mere moments before)

Chasmin: The Fourth Key

Hey pops. I forget which Circle you got banished to. Not that it matters. Heck, I bet you can't even hear me unless the Big Guy himself's trasmitting this to you just to make you more miserable. That's what I'm banking on, thought. I just wanted to tell you that I'm just one step away from completing your quest. No way I'm going to sell it all off to those bums you made the deal with. Gosh no. I'm keeping all this keen loot for myself. One more key and I get to open the gates to the Dreamtime! That reminds me. Pops, I found the fourth key today. You know, the one that had eluded you the most. You found the locations of all the other keys so easily. But the fourth... nope, you just couldn't handle that one, could you? Well, I topped you, Pops! Aren't you proud of me? I found the exact place of impact where they Eye of Chasmin fell from the heavens. They tell a story on Chasmin that a god killed another god and butchered the god like a piece of cattle to feed his own pantheon of lesser gods. Some of the pieces fell from the god's table. An ear, an arm, and this eye that the people of Chasmin relish. It took many sacrifices to convince the elders to reveal the location. Took even more to allow me and my party to leave safely. Actually, it took many sacrifices to allow me to leave safely. I'm sure you'll have a few new tormented faces joining you in a couple of hours. Their execution was going to happen at dawn I believe. But they can give you all the details, pops, so I'll spare you the story. As for the Eye itself... it'll take time, but once its full power has blossomed it will allow me to witness your suffering within whatever Circle they threw you in. I'll be sure to figure out which one by then. Until then, the Eye's power only streches across this plane of reality. I think I'll catch a glimpse of that execution that should be going on right about now... (Chance Ikkoshi himself, aboard his starship Gehenna, on route to his final destination: Khazan)

The Final Key: Avalon

... black hands... terror... screaming... cold hands... the knife... plunging... plunging... plunging... the blood... the cries... sleepless dreamers... Rachel... Rachel... Rachel!... blood soaked hands... reaching inside... her chest... a jewel... her soul... final... key... no... the gates... stay shut... stay shut... inserting... the ship... opening... the gates... opening... sleepless dreamers... nightmares... terrors... devastation coming... the child... the gates... the dreamtime... Avalon... the unknown... locked away... depths of Avalon... slumbering... the sleepless dreamer... awakening... NO! (Molly Dover, aka Pajama Pockets, speaking while in a trance, as Chance Ikkoshi kills the guardian of the Gates of Dreaming, opens the gates to the Dreamtime, and begins his approach on the capitol city of the Dreamtime, Avalon, aboard his ship The Gehenna)
