Ned glanced up at the large, gothic headquarters of the Shallow Guild, impassively resisting the spells which clutched at his mind, whispering softly that all would be for the best, if only he turned around now. He could go to a motel, have a nice, hot bath.... No. With a shake of his head, he scattered the treacherous whisperers off into the wind. Still, the suggestions of comfort, warmth, love, false though they were, could not help but trigger inside him memories, memories of a time when such things had been a part of his life. Long ago, he had been Nedarion Aleketh Tai'ban, leader of the High Queensguard, the most elite warriors of the race known as the Qet, sworn to guard the life of the High Queen with their own. Of course, he had not just sworn to guard her. He had loved her, and, although they had never consummated their relationship, she loved him, too. She had told him so, one week before It happened. The event in question being, of course, the annihilation of nearly the entire Qet race by a particularly vindictive excursion force of archangels and demons, sent by the Powers in command of both Heaven and Hell. The source of the trouble had come a month before, when High Queen Calia, with the full support of the Qet species as a whole, and backed by her Queensguard, cancelled the ancient Agreement between Heaven, Hell, and the Qet, whereby the Qet would serve as front-line soldiers during the Great Battle of Armageddon. Unfortunately, the High Powers being the High Powers, they did not, on the whole, feel very keen about permitting an upstart race, however powerful, to break with a contract signed by the Leaders of both armies. In retaliation, they almost contemptuously empowered three archangels and three Greater Pit Fiends, enabling them to keep their standard shapes on the universal plane, and sent them to "discipline" the rebellious species. Ned shuddered involuntarially. Their idea of discipline had included the annihilation of the entire Qet species, rendering the entire plane of existance on which it resided infertile, and the torture, and eventual consignment to hell of High Queen Calia. He remembered the look on her face, as she writhed in the Universal Flames, her soul being torn asunder bit by bit by the countless Demons of the inferno, while he was held, bound helpless, by one of the Pit Fiends and one of the Archangels, prevented in any way from interfering. The Archangels' faces had glowed with a zelous light as they pronounced sentence: she would be held , for all time, in the deepest pits of Hell. Then they turned to Nedarion, the last of the Queensguard to fall, and the only one left alive. "We know you loved her," they said. "Therefor you shall be damned sevenfold, for permitting your beloved to go through with such folly." It had smiled. "Nedarion Aleketh Tai'ban, we grant you... life eternal." And they laughed.

Elder Staff

  • Power: Psychic Vampire
  • Level:Supreme
  • Seeker This attack hunts and follows its target.
  • Ranged Attack Attack usable at a distance (only).
  • Weakness: Power in Item -Easy to Loseitem
No one knows why it is called the Elder Staff. Is it because it refers to the Elder Gods? Is it because it was forged in days long forgotten? Perhaps the name has no meaning. All anyone knows is that it posesses the ability to drain away the mental energies of those it is directed at, and syphons that energy into the weilder. But the carvings on the side, written in script unseen before by any of those who have posessed it in the past, may contain the key...

Energy Conduit

Since that day, the words of the Powers have proved true in a way so horrible, Ned still suffers. He is incapable of the simple act of dying. The power of the six Archangels and Demons involved in the attack on his home planet flows through him constantly, a divine curse preventing death from ever coming to him. Although some may think this is a good thing, it means he is forced to wander the cosmos, alone, never forgetting the look on Caia's face as she was consigned to the Flames. He has sought death, in one form or another, throughout the Omniverse, signing on for the most deadly and suicidal mercenary jobs, and always coming back victorious, without so much as a scratch. He even attacked Hell itself once or twice, attempting to free Caia, but was repulsed almost carelessly. Now, he has come to the Shallow Guild, hoping that they will be able to find some way to help him, either in defeating the curse, or in defeating the Powers, or in rescuing his beloved. As a way of hedging his bets, though, he has issued a challenge to the Powers, that they should meet him in the Arena of Khazan, and settle their differences once and for all.

Wander The Earth, Pt. I

  • Power: Force Field
  • Level:Superior
  • Kit Power Link: Energy Conduit
  • Reinforced Defenses Defense blocks Armor Piercing attacks.
As previously stated, Ned has been involved in some of the most suicidal mercenary jobs in the Omniverse, and survived. You don't think that's because of his winning personality, do you? Think of the kind of jobs that would be considered "suicidal" in an omniversal standpoint. We're talking "one-starfighter-against-the-entire-Empire" scale, here. And Ned has yet to be harmed in the slightest detail.

Wander The Earth, Pt. II

  • Power: Iron Will
  • Level:Superior
  • Kit Power Link: Energy Conduit
The Curse that binds Ned to life is so powerful that it can contemptuously shrug aside most other forms of attack, simply "rewriting" the strands of reality so that the attack was never launched in the first place. In addition to the rest of his curse, this can prove quite deadly for an unprepared opponent.

Qet High Queensguard, Pt. I

  • Power: Energy Sheath
  • Level:Ultimate
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
*Ahem* In case you didn't pay attention during the bio, Ned was the leader of the Qet High Queensguard. This means he was, for all intents and purposes, the most combat-proficient of the Qet. Again, in case you weren't paying attention, the Qet were destined to be the front-line soldiers of Armageddon, as far above your average human as the Horsemen were above your average deities. Through channeling his spirit into his attacks, he can generate blows powerful enough to crash through 40' thick solid steel walls without slowing, and has martial arts abilities so advanced that they transcend the limitations of mere physical combat. The Curse has, to his shame, enlaced itself with his spirit, though, making him even HARDER to kill.

Qet High Queensguard, Pt. II

As a member of the High Queensguard, Ned was one of the most skilled fighters on his world, both in matters of the body, and in matters of the mind. By engaging no more than a few blows with a person, Ned can figure out what makes them tick, and what will make them stop ticking.

Qet High Queensguard, Pt. III

  • Power: Martial Arts
  • Level:Superior
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
  • Weakness: Not usable in terrain Low Gravity
Unless you haven't gotten the point by now, OR haven't been paying attention, Ned is without a doubt one of the most powerful fighters in the entire universe. Even if it weren't for his Curse, which effectively prevents him from ever dying, EVER, he would still be a force to be feared throughout the Omniverse, schooled as he is in the ancient Combat Arts of the Qet. Which, considering that his race was destined to fight against the rank and file of the multiverse, were quite considerable. However, since the Qet were intended to be planet-based infantry, their Martial Arts style fails to take into account the minor changes necessary for fighting in zero gravity.

Queensguard Medallion

  • Power: Super Speed
  • Level:Standard
  • Weakness: Power in Item -Easy to Loseitem
In order to mark his rank as a member of the Queensguard, Ned was given a medallion of silver, inscribed with ancient runes. Not only did this tell anyone who knew what to look for to stay the heck out of his way, or else, it granted him the ability to move at rates of speed unheard of to beings limited to the laws of the universe. While wearing the medallion (which he never takes off, by the way), his abilities to analyze opponents, and deduce and act upon their weaknesses, speeds up alarmingly.
