Just saw The Man with the Iron Fists. I liked it a lot. Of course I am into movies like Ninja Assassin and Enter the Dragon etc.. For fans of Bloody martial arts and over the top intentional cliches. Over all I laughed my ass off and was impressed by the fights in general.

Thankskilling is fantastic.

Audiences aren't stupid. They don't need to see a character become who they are so long as said character does interesting things after the point we're introduced to them. While Uncle Ben's death is

Emma Stone. Yum.

Do NOT listen to rottentomatoes on that movie, they will only give righ ratings to utterly serious and dull, emotionally wrenching dramas. Anything fun or only 1/2 serious will get poor ratings, regardless of quality.

Skyfall was good and told a great story. Loved how all 3 films focus on Bond's earliest days and with each one we learned more about him. Casino Royale was still better though and is still my favorite Bond film.

Hey, Forum's back! ^_^ So I just watched The Amazing Spiderman, before coming here, and I don't know.. I have mixed feelings. The first hour was like watching the same exact movie, as the original with Tobey. I kept thinking, "When are we gonna get to the new stuff?"... Once it was past that, I actually started to enjoy it more. Emma Stone was great, as always. Still, I don't really feel like she was enough to make this movie.. better. I did enjoy the film. Don't get me wrong. Just don't really feel like it was better. Add to it, that I think I prefer Tobey over Garfield, and I don't really know what to think...

I had higher expectations, from the preview I saw. Just don't feel like I enjoyed it, as much as I thought I would. It's like all the different Batmans. You have ones that are a good Bruce, but a bad Batman. Then ones that are a good Batman, but a terrible Bruce. That's kind of how I felt about Garfield. In my opinion, he was a better Spidey. But not a better Parker.

Recently saw Red Dawn and Dark Knight Rises.

Red Dawn, if you're willing to suspend all disbelief, pretty much delivers on what you expect: a mindless, chest-thumping explosion-packed action film. While I can't say it's a better than the first, in objective comparisons I'd put it at about the same level as far as enjoyment goes even if the premise is hilariously implausible. But damn did it have some annoying characters.

I wasn't impressed by any of the recent Batman films from Batman Begins till now, although I'd say DKR was superior to last two. The utter incompetence of all of the police and government officials was a major sore point with me, but I moved past it. Overall, good twists and an enjoyable film. Not amazing, but solid.

You just hate it when armed government officials are portrayed as less than heroes, don't you?

Yes, actually, to an extent. It's one of my pet peeves. Probably my biggest pet peeve in regards to fiction, truth be told.

Funny thing that's how the Gotham Police are in the comics. It shows you why they need Jim Gordon.

Well, sure. But the Delta Force guys didn't get much further.

Because Bane was tipped off about them by an inside source.

I understand that. But it's SOP for those guys to expect betrayal; these are the guys who have to recruit and work with terrorists at times, after all. You would think they would be a little more careful in how they went about revealing their presence. It's entirely possible they wouldn't have done so at all. Even putting that aside for a second, their performance in the ensuing firefight was pathetic. I understand they were ambushed, but good lord. No sentries? No lookouts?

Then there's the scene at the beginning of the film in which Bane escapes the CIA black flight. The special ops guys were once again made to look like amateurs, while Bane's own group of mercenaries are incredibly proficient in everything they do (except, of course, fighting the Batman). And why did the cops who charged Bane's stronghold at the end do so unarmed? They were all heavily-armed when they entered the underground tunnel system, after all.

I'm not an idiot, I understand that suspension of disbelief is necessary for the advancement of the plot. I don't expect the cops/military to be portrayed as Big Damn Heroes. But it just irks me when a film goes out of its way to make them look unrealistically incompetent, even when it doesn't really add anything to the plot or storyline (and in many cases flies in the face of the realism they are in some cases attempting to achieve). I'd rather have the military/cops not be directly involved at all if their only purpose is to be Red Shirted after two seconds on-screen for no real reason. Conversely, as you might expect, fiction that portrays cops and soldiers in a favorable or competent light when they really don't have to win some points with me. It's just my "thing".

But I digress. /rant

Maybe it isn't the fact they are so incompetent, rather it's the fact that Bane and his men are that good.

How was Josh Peck in Red Dawn? It'd be hard for me to take him seriously in an action flick.

Just in my opinion, there's no getting around the fact that they were made to look incompetent, regardless of how good Bane's men were. Also, where was Bane getting all of these guys who were better than special ops at the special ops game? I'm genuinely curious about that and it wasn't really explained. Was this the new League? Were they just mercs? Regardless, it was already clear that Bane and his guys were utter badasses. The aforementioned scene(s) didn't really reinforce that fact so much as make the SF guys look really, really bad.

I didn't much care for Josh Peck's performance. It wasn't bad, but it did have some minor annoyances that added up to really rub me the wrong way. I think there may have been better choices for the role. Hemsworth and Morgan were predictably excellent in my opinion, though.

No venom. The mask was so he could breathe. Without it, he would die. That's why in the second fight, Batman targeted his mashk(as Bane would say it).

Nah. The mask wasn't oxygen or anything. It was something to do with pain. Like, his face got all *vulgarity*ed up and the mask held it together. Something like that.

I agree with Redfield though. It takes some serious suspension of disbelief to accept that the Spec Ops soldiers would have performed like that.

Also, how do you know those guys were from the League? I'm pretty sure those were just normal criminals.

Yeah, there's no way that Talia Al Ghul, the leader of the League after her father died, would let her best friend and savior use her troops to do her bidding. Hell no.

To be fair the League followers Bane had weren't all the competent either. The pair that brought Gordon into Bane's base of operations springs to mind. That one chief mook that is at Bane's side all the time is the most competent I think.
