Question: What movie affected you the most growing up?

What really made an impact on what your tastes and development of interests?

Me: Terminator 2. My mind was completely blown by this as a young child.

Hmm when I was younger? Its a tie between the first Christopher Reeve Superman and Star Wars New Hope. I saw them both on TV and loved them.

Ooh, that's a good question. I'm going with the Iron Giant. It showed me that:

1. A movie can be both serious and comical

2. A movie can be emotionally involving, even with something as strange as a giant robot

3. A giant robot flying into a nuke to save a little boy can (and will) make me cry as a kid

Yeah, but saying a movie "got good reviews" implies that it got mostly favorable reviews

No it doesn't. It simply means it got good reviews which it did. That doesn't imply most of the reviews were good or all of them were.

Yeah, but then I could say "Cars 2 got good reviews" and still be right. That's why it makes since to assume that the person is talking about the majority of the reviews

Yeah but if I wanted to say most of the reviews were good I was assuming people would know thats what I would say. I know people are smart enough to get that on here.

There were a few for me, Babe and Dragonheart were some of the first I remember seeing in theatres. Dragonheart isn't great, but it was more complex than anything I had seen to that point, taught me that characters could be complex.

Babe is just awesome, nuff said.

Then there was The Empire Strikes Back, absolutely rocked my world as a kid: the Battle of Hoth, Bobba Fett, the edginess of the whole story; I still get chills at the "I am your father," and "'I love you,' 'I know'" moments.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, it was my first introduction to noir and would still make my "coolest movies ever made" list.

Toy Story, because anyone under the age of twenty had to have been influenced in some way by Pixar in their childhood.

And lastly I think The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I watched the hell out of the first one to the point where I could quote the entire movie by heart. It became the Star Wars of my generation and was definitely one of the most influential things I have ever watched, epic stuff.

Batman and Robin.

I think I started quoting movies after watching this one.

What killed the dinosaurs?...

THE ICE AGE!

Also, Disney's Aladdin/Hercules/Tarzan. Epic dudes doing epic things. Aladdin's soundtrack was the greatest thing ever.

Hmm... If I had to pick movies, two things that I watched a shiton as a kid, Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze. I also liked the Power Rangers Movie, and the 3 Ninjas franchise.

Come to think of it, maybe this is why I still have some love for Naruto. It was branded into me as a young boy, that ninjas were cool...

But yeah, even though I went down a different path when I got into DBZ and games like Final Fantasy, (ages 11 and 13 respectively) I still like ones with space settings and/or sword fights, more than others. And that's probably an influence from those movies I watched, when I was a kid.

All dogs go to Heaven was another favorite of mine.

And you all can say what you want, but the Harry Potter franchise made a big impact in my life as well.

To this day I still enjoy watching the movies and reading the books.

All dogs go to Heaven is one of the best but most underrated Disney cartoon movies. Other films I loved were the first 2 live action Teenage Turtle movies. My cousin gave me his videos of those movies to watch and I loved them.

I think I'm about to go watch Brave with my little brother and parents. So if that's any good I'll tell you guys about it either today or tomorrow.
