Shingo Yabuki thrust his left out two quick times as he intended to strike away at his rather unusual opponent, but the reptile immediately weaved from side to side, evading the punches rather quickly. Shingo responded by thrusting his left out before turning with his weight and leaned into the motion as he pushed his right arm out for a strong straight, intending on striking at the middle of Michelangelo’s face. Instead, the young man would find himself striking at nothing but air as Michelangelo continued to weave around the first jab, but then leaned to his left as he moved underneath the incoming punch. Shingo again turned with his weight and he unleashed two more quick punches as he aimed at the Turtle’s face and added with a quick uppercut from his left. Michelangelo leaned from right to left, evading the incoming punches. When the uppercut came, the wily Turtle side-stepped to his left and he swung his right leg diagonally up as he took aim for Shingo’s face, performing a quick roundhouse for his opponent’s head. Widening his eyes at how fast his opponent moved, Shingo had to react fast. Quickly crossing his arms in front of his face, Shingo took the impact directly in his forearms.

Quickly seizing the opportunity of his opponent blocking, Michelangelo then rushed in as he moved his arms out—now taking a firm hold of Shingo by the back of his head as he planted his hands firmly onto the young man. Widening his eyes, Shingo suddenly found himself being pulled down by the reptile. Michelangelo would thrust his right leg up, firmly impacting his knee into Shingo’s face once. Michelangelo would repeat this three more times, until Shingo would cross his forearms in front of himself once more, and arched his back to break from the hold. Shingo firmly placed his hands onto Michelangelo’s plastron and shoved him to get some distance between himself and the wily ninja. Retaliating, Shingo released three quick jabs from his left and right before he snapped with his right leg in a quick front kick which was intended for Michelangelo’s plastron.

Michelangelo rolled his arms out, slapping down away at the incoming jabs but then dashed to his left when Shingo came in with the kick. Quickly, the red masked ninja then spun his nunchaku within his grasp and he took aim for the young man’s mid-section and went to work as he then swung his arms across from right to left in a quick succession of four. Shingo suddenly felt something striking him in his sides, and he grunted as each impact had been made and he quickly moved his arms back, working to cover himself as Michelangelo batted away at him with the chained clubs. Michelangelo then finished by spinning the nunchaku within his right hand, moving it up only to firmly strike up at Shingo’s forearms.

“AY YAI YAI YAI!!” Shingo winced as he shook his arms.

The red masked ninja just couldn’t help but blink his eyes in a moment of surprise, seeing his opponent react like that. Shrugging his shoulders, Michelangelo then quickly swung the nunchaku within his right hand across to the left and back over to the right as he took aim for Shingo’s head. The young fighter leaned back twice, evading Michelangelo’s strikes. Quickly, Shingo turned in a spin and leaned with his weight only to swiftly thrust his right arm out and firmly impacted Michelangelo onto his face performing one of his own interpretations of the Kusanagi techniques— the 115 Shiki: Dokugami Mikansei.

The blow was enough to stun Michelangelo and force him back as he shook his head from side to side. His opponent hit hard, unusually hard. And for a moment, Michelangelo thought that… he would’ve used one of those fancy energy attacks, but he didn’t. Shingo rushed in and he jabbed from his right and his left, but Michelangelo leaned from side to side. Shingo then leaned up and thrust his left knee up for Michelangelo’s chin, firmly impacting the ninja in his chin. He then turned with his weight again and pumped his hands up for the Turtle’s mid-section, firmly striking into the ninja’s plastron protected mid-section. Michelangelo grunted as he stumbled back

“ITAI!” Shingo widened his eyes as he felt his knuckles and carpals compress.

“Dude, you hit HARD but you’re striking at the wrong places!” Michelangelo grinned.

The Turtle turned with his hips and he swung his arms across, firmly striking Shingo across the face with his knuckles as he gripped his nunchaku. Following up with this, Michelangelo then turned in a spin and he pushed himself up, leaping to the air only to then quickly swing his right back across to the right in a jumping spinning wheel kick. Shingo leaned back away from the incoming kick, and he responded by pouncing forward, now raising his left leg and snapping his right as he performing a jumping front snap kick. Michelangelo quickly circled to his right, managing to evade the incoming kick and watched as Shingo landed.

The young man immediately would then jab his right arm out three quick times as he took aim for Michelangelo’s head. The red masked wily ninja would weave from side to side; working to evade the incoming punches but Shingo swiftly turned with his weight as he then snapped his left leg down and across, performing a low roundhouse kick for Michelangelo’s knees. Michelangelo winced as he felt something impacting into his legs and he grunted as he leaned slightly to the side. Shingo, being the underdog which he is, swung his right and left arm across—firmly impacting his fists across Michelangelo’s cheeks and the Turtle felt a wave of pain moving onto his face. Shingo quickly jabbed his left arm out twice, again impacting Michelangelo’s face and caused him to stumble back only to then step in pursuit of the red masked Turtle, and swung his right arm upwards in an effort to land a solid uppercut. Michelangelo then felt his chin being struck, and his head was forced to jerk back and his vision flashed black and white for a second before he lowered his head down, already stunned from the blow. Shingo reached out with his arms, now taking hold of Michelangelo’s left arm and he leaned forward, only to use Michelangelo’s weight against him and slammed the mutant Red Ear Slider down onto the hard floor of the warehouse. Working to gain his bearings, Michelangelo blinked hard and firmly planted his hands onto the floor and worked to push himself to his feet, working to regain his footing in the process.

Shingo quickly charged forward only to now zero right in on Michelangelo. He tensed up his legs, now pushing himself forward and up only to then turn with his weight and he then kicked his right leg out, bringing it down for Michelangelo’s chest. Another one of his own developed techniques. Shingo might not have developed the use of Ki in his fighting abilities, but he more than made up for it with raw physical strength.

“SHINGO KICK!”

Michelangelo was firmly impacted in his plastron, and the red masked ninja soon found himself launched off from his feet, and he was already soaring right in towards a pallet that was loaded with boxes that contained whatever goods that this warehouse stored. Michelangelo crashed through the pallet of boxes and the cardboard boxes dropped everywhere onto the floor.

Shingo moved ahead to where Michelangelo had landed and as he stood amongst the fallen pile of boxes, he frantically moved his hands and pushed boxes aside to look for any presence of his opponent. Shingo widened his eyes, unable to make sense of how an opponent like the Turtle was able to disappear so quickly and… somehow escaping his notice. He turned his head from side to side, searching all around. The fact that Michelangelo disappeared in such a stealthy manner was enough to make even Benimaru, Goro and Saisyu also look around.

The young Japanese underdog moved further down the warehouse, moving to where the trucks had been parked. However, he had failed to notice that there was a shape moving on the top of one of the many truck cabs. As Shingo proceeded to search, Michelangelo would drop from above as he then kicked both his legs out and slammed his feet into the back of Shingo’s shoulders. Shingo was unable to control himself, and he found himself slamming face first into the side of one of the many trailers which occupied this warehouse. A wash of pain entered into his head and he worked to fight through the pain as he shook his head from side to side, now blinking only to glare in the direction of Michelangelo. The red masked ninja then rushed on ahead, now then twirling the nunchaku within his right hand horizontally over to the left and back to the right, then swung it vertically up and then brought it down for the top of his opponent’s head. Shingo immediately crossed his arms out in front of his mid-section, wincing as he took the blows from the nunchaku with his forearms. When the upward strike came, Shingo shook his arms as he was unable to endure too much from the weapons and as soon as the overhead strike was attempted, Shingo dashed to is right and managed to evade the incoming blow.

Shingo quickly retaliated by swinging his left arm across to the right, and then back across to the left as he took aim for Michelangelo’s face once more but the Turtle leaned back, evading from the incoming strikes. Shingo followed up by turning with his hips and he swung his right arm across in a quick hook punch for Michelangelo’s head. The Turtle hunched down from the strike, but Shingo immediately turned in a spin and he snapped his right leg out in a side kick aimed out for the ninja’s mid-section. Michelangelo took the blow directly in his plastron, withstanding the brunt of the impact and allowed it only push him away from his opponent.

“EEYAAAH!”

Shingo roared at the top of his lungs as he rushed in at Michelangelo again. When he neared the Turtle, he tensed up his leg muscles and pushed himself up only to throw his weight across to the right as he parted his arms, intending on hitting the ninja full on strength as he aimed to perform another of his variation of the Kusanagi techniques—if Shingo could hit him with the 100 Shiki Oni Yaki Mikanse, then he would definitely knock Michelangelo back with his strength. However, the wily ninja instead leaned forward and rolled onto his shoulders, before he would set himself onto his feet— successfully managing to evade Shingo’s attack. As the young man was being brought back down by gravity, Michelangelo went onto the offensive. He twirled the nunchaku within his left hand and swung it vertically upward as he took aim for Shingo’s chin. The underdog had been impacted firmly and his head was forced to snap back and a wash of pain moved through his head.

Capitalizing on this, Michelangelo then had twirled the nunchaku downward and smacked the top of Shingo’s head with the tethered weapon— and contact was made.

“ITAI! ITAI! ITAI! AY YAI YAI!!” Shingo yelped as he moved his hands to his head.

The red masked Turtle then swung his right leg down and across and struck Shingo’s calf muscle on his left leg, only to then snap his right leg up and across to perform a roundhouse kick and he smacked Shingo firmly into his mid-section, and finalized the offensive as he then turned in a spin and he leapt briefly, only to turn with his weight into a spin and then swung his right leg across— harshly smacking Shingo across the face with his foot. The young Japanese man then found himself soaring across and he hit the side of another truck cab and rebounded off from it, only to then hit the ground flat down onto the warehouse floor.

Pain moved through Shingo’s body and he winced his eyes in display of agony, before he fought through the discomfort and planted his hands onto the ground only to push himself up onto his feet.

“Dude, you’re like… freakin’ Anguirus from Godzilla!” Michelangelo chuckled as he shook his head.

“I don’t give up so easily!” Shingo responded.

Michelangelo leaned forward and he snapped his left leg outward in a front kick, but Shingo moved his right hand down and slapped away at the Turtle’s foot. Michelangelo responded to this by leaning forward again and he turned with his weight as he then snapped his left leg out in a side kick but Shingo again stepped back and slapped the kick away with his right hand, before he then rushed forward and swung his right arm horizontally across, taking aim for Michelangelo’s head. The Turtle leaned back away from the incoming fist, allowing it to pass right by him. Responding to this, the wily Turtle then jabbed with his left and right as he took aim for Shingo’s face. The Japanse fighter then had weaved underneath the two incoming jabs, but responded by thrusting his right arm upwards as he took aim for Michelangelo’s chin. Seeing the incoming uppercut, Michelangelo pulled his arms back and crossed them in front of himself, taking the blow directly with his forearms.

Shingo tensed up his legs once more and pushed himself, immediately taking to the air. He turned with his body weight as he threw it across, only to then swing his right leg horizontally with the intent on hitting Michelangelo. The Turtle instead once more crossed his arms, taking the kick in the forearms. Shingo would throw his weight across three more times, releasing a series of spinning wheel kicks across only to firmly impact Michelangelo’s forearms as he performed another of his techniques— the 101 Shiki Oboro Guma Mikanse.

However, Michelangelo would part his arms and he would watch as Shingo somehow lost his balance, and hit the ground flat onto his right side. The red masked Turtle decided to take advantage of this as he now rushed in towards Shingo and pushed himself to be airborne. Michelangelo curled himself and threw his weight forward, becoming a speeding ball of force and struck Shingo directly into his chest only to rebound and dropped onto his carapace. Shingo wheezed as all of the air in his lungs had been knocked out from him before he was forced to drop onto his rear. Fighting through the discomfort, Shingo summoned up all of the strength which he could as he tensed up the muscles within himself. Quickly, he stepped forward and ran in towards Michelangelo— homing in on him like a heat seeking missile. When he neared the reptile, Shingo leaned forward and aimed to ram his right shoulder into the ninja, performing one of his more powerful desperation techniques—the Ge Shiki Kake Hou Rin.

Michelangelo blinked at this, and side-stepped to his left only to then snap his right leg out back in a thrust kick, impacting Shingo’s back and turned only to watch as Shingo lost his footing, and dove head first into the side of a trailer. Shingo worked to regain his balance but was unable to in time, slamming his head into the trailer. His senses jarred, Shingo’s eyes crossed before rolling back an d he fell only to hit the concrete floor of the warehouse flat onto his back, and his arms and legs were spread apart.

“Well… that was something!” Michelangelo blinked as he stared down to his opponent.

Leonardo, Donatello and Raphael began to silently countdown to see if Shingo would be getting up in time. Benimaru, Goro and Saisyu just cringed at the way Shingo had been eliminated from the battle. And they already had a feeling that the match had already been decided. Time had passed, and Shingo didn’t even so much as make a move. Michelangelo just pumped his arms as he looked to his brothers, making his way over towards them.

“That guy was a lot tougher than he looked!” Michelangelo chuckled.

“Yeah but you pulled through.” Leonardo responded.

“Well, which one of us is going to be next?” Michelangelo asked.

Leonardo stared to the direction of Raphael and Donatello, and the red masked field leader of the Turtles had also considered himself. He crossed his arms only to then think about where this could very much go as far as this battle was concerned. Raphael had consistently proven himself in the last ten battles, and Donatello made something of a breakthrough in his last match. Leonardo also thought the same of his last match with Haohmaru. He turned and now looked over to see the opposing team, watching as Benimaru moved to the defeated underdog, and Shingo was finally beginning to come around as he groaned and was pulled to his feet by the thin blonde man.  Shingo looked to the direction of his master, Saisyu, frowning as he limped his way to the older man.

“I failed you, sensei! I’m…”

“Nonsense! You did what you could and have gotten better from the training! It just tells me that your training simply needs to be raised to a higher level!” Saisyu commented.

“So, which one of us will go next to fight these guys?” Benimaru inquired.

“Hmm… I will go.” Goro spoke as he stepped forth.

Leonardo took a moment to observe the large, muscular Japanese man. From what he was able to deduce, the man definitely appeared to have a lot of raw physical power by the size of his muscles.

“Guys, let me go next!” Donatello spoke as he stepped forward.

Both Donatello and Goro now moved in towards one another. As the two drew closer, they stopped within five feet of each other. The size difference between the intellectual Turtle and the Judo gold medalist was glaring. Donatello moved his head up and he took a moment to observe the form of his opponent, and was making mental notes already. Goro merely grunted as he then turned his head from side to side, popping his neck bones to undo whatever stiffness which he seemed to be experiencing.

Donatello then moved his right arm back and he took hold of the steel bo-staff which was slung over his carapace, now gripping it firmly within his hands.

“I am expecting a great match! You and your teammates have come very far in this tournament! That in itself is an admirable feat!” Goro spoke, nodding in approval of Donatello’s achievements alongside with his brothers.

“I’d like to think that I have made some progress! Let me show you what I can do!” Donatello responded.

The red masked intellectual Turtle then snapped back into his own fighting stance as he then spun his electro bo-staff within his hands, and then tucked it underneath his right arm and held his left arm out. Goro clapped his hands, causing a loud boom to echo through the warehouse. The Judo gold medalist then parted his arms, his hands opened as he also entered into his own fighting stance. The two circled around one another, sizing each other up and making their own observations.

With a mighty roar, Goro Daimon yelled out as he rushed in towards the red masked Turtle. Donatello spun his staff within his grasp and already rushed in towards the Judo gold medalist.

A classic battle of brains against brawn kicked off.

Alright, so the next battle between the Mirage Turtles and Team Japan has finally been written up. Writing out the recap between Michelangelo and Shingo was something of a challenge because Shingo had a lot of techniques in his move set and I wanted to use the most iconic ones, so there were a lot which I omitted from using. I also did my best to work in some comedy into the match considering that this is a match between two characters who are known to be comedy relief characters-- albeit, Michelangelo, or rather the Mirage version, is nowhere near the goofball which is 1987, 2003 ad 2012 counterparts are shown to be. I also tried to work in some of Shingo's clumsiness into his techniques, since in-game, he has been shown to lose his footing and literally slip and fall. So I hope I did something which emulated that.

I decided the next match was going to be the classic Brains vs Brawn approach, and I felt like as if this would be something of a good challenge for Donatello. Sure, Donatello already faced someone like Chang Koehan who is known for his immense size and strength but I feel like as if this would be more challenging for Donatello on account that Goro is a lot smarter than Chang, and is a gold medalist in Judo according to his backstory in KOF canon. So there's definitely that element and there's also a David vs Goliath theme going on here, as Goro is taller and bigger, but Donatello is smaller but more nimble and agile. Hopefully this will be an entertaining match up.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Donatello (Mirage) is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Donatello (Mirage) possesses a new Electro Bo-Staff, Electro Shurikens, Explosive Shurikens, Kunai and Modified Laser Equipped Roomba.

Goro Daimon is mid tier superhuman due to his size, weight and training.

Goro Daimon has his moveset from the KOF games.

Grapplings not something we see the turtles do. I remember Raph threw Leo through a wall in the mirage comics. I think if Goro can get Donnie to throw down his staff and fight on his terms it would be a lot more interesting. Otherwise Donnie is probably a little stronger that Goro so there's not really anything a judo guy has to defeat a mutant turtle.

Well, Goro has fought other styles as far as KOF canon is concerned. It's likely that he has adapted his Judo to compensate to go against other styles.

Good point. Billy Kane fights with a staff. But I don't think most KOF characters are as strong as the turtles. They got good video game strength and stamina and durability but I don't think they are actually beyond peak human (you've got him at low to mid superhuman). I just don't see him beating a turtle with weapons. Drop that stick turtleboy. Show me your strength.

Alright, let me say that in this fight... I am definitely pulling for Donatello since this is the Turtles' arc and I want them to develop a very good record here on the CBUB. I would say that most of the KOF characters are Peak Human to Low-Mid tier superhuman in terms of abilities. In the case of Daimon Goro, he is unquestionably superhuman in terms of his physical strength on account of his training and his physical build. In the canonical manga KOF: A New Beginning, Goro managed to stop an out of control train which was filled with passenger, the train was sent out of control by Vice, who was physically overpowering Goro because of the Orochi power which she possess. Goro, beaten and bloodied, and severely weakened from the violence Vice subjected him to... Managed to BARELY stop this full speeding out of control train. You can see this evidence here.

8G4ZejN.jpg1pFPhcw.jpg

zzXSGZb.jpg9PWOM9G.jpg

itQd9LU.jpg

So clearly... Daimon IS somewhere in the superhuman range if he was able to stop a full speeding training under extreme stress to the point where it made him pass out. And Daimon did this without any further support to prevent his body from being run over or even so much as ripped apart (eat your heart out Raimi Spider-Man). So... Daimon IS physically stronger than Donatello.

But STRENGTH isn't always the deciding factor in a battle... Daimon being stronger than Donatello is iron-clad fact, but Donatello is a lot more quicker, and a lot more agile, where as Goro Daimon is also a lot slower. Yes, Goro is without a doubt slower than Donatello, as he's known to be quite slow in the KOF games, even his running speed is quite slow. So because of Goro's strength, getting into a grappling match is something Donatello is not going to want to do, and his tech is something which might help him compensate against Goro's overwhelming strength.

But Donatello has fought superhuman foes before... For example, he's fought against a Golem, who possessed low to upper mid-tier superhuman strength as seen here.

So really... This fight I think is probably A LOT more closer than what I originally thought. Not necessarily in terms of physicals, but the fact that Donatello has the experience in dealing with superhuman foes who are low-mid tier to probably upper mid-tier superhuman and Goro Daimon has the physicals to be considered superhuman.

Ooh, very nice. I missed the Shingo match but it wouldn't have changed anything. If we are already at Team Japan then I would guess this particular tournament is just about done. My first thought was that Goro's strength might really surprise Donatello but you brought up a good point about them already crossing paths with Chang Koehan. I also liked the comparison made between Donatello and Billy Kane. Although I believe Donatello to be a superior fighter to Billy, I think Goro's years of experience fighting him is more useful for this fight than Donatello's match against dumb as rocks Chang Koehan.

My guess would be that none of the superhuman strength foes Donatello has faced utilized defensive techniques. I'm sure he is no stranger to Judo, but it is still a surprising combination. I am leaning toward Goro Daimon for the upset.

That's one for Goro Daimon.

However, I should've posted this in a previous post which I've made, but aside from fighting that one Golem, Donatello's also fought an experienced Triceraton who's also boasted a level of superhuman strength. Donatello knows that he can't out muscle the Triceraton in question, similarly with the Golem in the previous post and must utilize his agility and speed, and precision to get the better of the two. However, he's also used the environment against physically superior opponents as seen below.

Also, let's not forget, there's also the element of stealth which Donatello might have to employ as well if he's to get the better of Goro Daimon.

Anyway. I'm staying with Donnie. Good luck with the fight. I'd actually love to write a fight like this.

Fair enough! Thanks for the input and insight!

Sorry about not getting to this match earlier, Rakai. I had every intention of posting yesterday, but my internet was out from last night up until about a couple of hours ago.

Anyways, great set-up as always. I've read that Shingo is lacking in experience, both in combat and with ki attacks, and is a bit clumsy. If all of this is true, then you might've gotten him down to a T. Very good recap with him and the more experienced Michelangelo.

As for this match? Donnie might have his hands full here. Goro seems to be as strong or maybe stronger than foes even Donnie's faced, and he may not have as exploitable of a weakness as, say, the Golem. Maybe Donnie could strike as some nerve points and use his gadgets and ninjustu stealth to get an edge?

Thank you for the insight and comments!

As far as I know about Goro Daimon, is that he is definitely a physically overpowering character as far as strength is concerned but he is definitely lacking in terms of speed and agility. This is definitely something that Donatello can use to his advantage and his electro bo-staff gives him reach. Not to mention, as far as I know, Goro has no special resistance against electric based attacks, so the electro bo-staff would definitely be of help.

And then there's the electro shurikens which can do same effects and there's the laser roomba. Goro might not be expecting that and may have trouble with Donatello's gadgets.

There's also stealth. I don't see Goro having much experience in fighting enemies who employ stealth. Donatello also can create an advantage with that as well. He has many options.
