The week felt long; however, for Clara she made sure to make the most of the last seven days as she begins to go to work. Clara began by tinkering with her new herbalist kit as she makes as much potions as she could for the group. A couple of fumbles, here and there, but eventually she manages to get the job done. Clara would eventually come across the bed roll along with an anonymous note. She had no idea who brought it to her, but was a smitten with this nice gesture that someone on the boat was looking out for her. Clara would also use this time to get to know both Erine and their newest member Komi. Clara would share banter with the two, make jokes and talk about boys, and do whatever else young girls like to do. On one evening, Clara would also try her hand at fishing for the very first time with Muggy and Cliff. Needless to say, she had the patience down but didn't have a very good grip when it came to handling the fish itself as it slipped out of her hands at times. If there was a sleepless night or two, she would also practice some new magic from her spellbooks at the top of the boat in order to not wake any one else on board in the middle of the night.

Corvo nodded to Komi and after a few moments he beamed and clapped his hands.

"I have something special for today! So everyone if you please, come up on deck as soon as you're ready within ten minutes!" And with this mysterious bit, Corvo would get up and strode for the door. His tail flicking out briefly, the Tiefling much more relaxed about his fiendish parts at this point.

Act 2 - Adventures At High Sea

It has now been one week since The Angel Steve has left the port of Eastrun. One week of peaceful sailing, the ship being at a relatively fast pace across the southern border of Criorther. The food is bountiful for the group, as there is no lack of fish to catch and cook.

Muggy and Farley shared a room together in the Captain's cabin, Corvo and Komi in one of the crew cabins, Clara and Erine in another, and finally Cliff by himself.

A quiet morning it has been, the sun shining down on our adventurous bunch. The group are together now, enjoying a breakfast of fish, discussing their next step.

b3c8a6ca1bff185c33ccf33a87798398.jpg

The week had gone by so fast.

Farley had enjoyed everyone's company and hoped they felt the same. He liked sharing a room with Muggy, they got along great but whenever Muggy started on about women... Well, it didn't make him comfortable. He would offer spiritual wisdom if he could, but he didn't have much experience with love.

Farley spent some of his time on deck, baking in the sun, and reading his book What The Hell Are Fish Vol. 12. He nearly finished it by the end of the week, but slowed his pace so he could enjoy it longer. It was quite interesting and gave insight into fish that he didn't know. At breakfast, Farley would share the things he learned about the fish they were eating as well as fish in general.

"You know, the best nutrients in fish come from the skin and scales? They are usually taken off so it's a shame that we've been missing out."

In the end, all he could do was chalk it up to women in general and seek Cliff or Farley out for manly time or discourse. But he was no longer ignorant. The question was...What exactly does on do about it in this situation?

OOC: Would you share with Farley your feeling towards Komi?

Farley liked getting to know Corvo. He was a serious and so different than himself, but strangely similar. Even if the guild didn't work out, Farley felt that Corvo was someone he could look to for aid if he ever needed it.

OOC: Naw, but he would engage him in debates over philosophy. On the sanctity of life, what measure of worth is a person, etc. He'd also admit being a Tiefling troubles him at times, but it's given him perspective not to judge on looks but on deeds.

OOC: Okay then, cool.

IC: In these discussions, Farley would point that everyone nay everything, has worth. Life would not be the same if not for everyone in it and Farley believes this makes the world better and a much more fulfilling place to live in.

I know what you are expecting:

You think I’m going to write “Muggy did everything he could to woo the young maiden they were escorting, blah blah blah, etc.”

But that is not what happened. He didn’t even really talk to her that much. What happened instead was, Muggy stayed in the captains quarters as much as he could, only being dragged out occasionally to give a heading, or if wind conditions became severe or something needed his immediate attention. He was technically the most experienced with the sea after all.

He doesn’t even remember how it happened, but one day he was convinced by others in the party to go fishing with them? If you could call it fishing? While the others actually hooked and reeled in his distant cousins, he jus kind of held a pole and looked morbidly out into the water. The water he understood, even when it was tough and angry. He did not understand haunted boat Steve.

He pulled his bunk mate Farley one day and looked at him with a harrowing expression and a nearly present voice, “I think this boat is going to kill me.”

Then the time came to join Corvo on deck for the surprise. Which he did, reluctantly.

Anyway, Corvo would be waiting for everyone on the top deck. Hands in the pockets of his coat and his wings out and wrapped around his shoulders like a cape, the Tiefling humming a sea shanty before looking at them all.

"So! I've called you all here because while we are aware of each other's capabilities? We've no experience in seeing them in action or learning to work alongside each other. I'd like to change that today with a series of spars and exercises. Tests to determine our skills and see if we can't create a few teamwork combinations by the end of today. Any questions?"

 He looked over the party.

"Well, I have generally made clear my capabilities, but I could go a little further to help get us all in a sharing mood.

So being big and swinging an axe really hard is still my main skillset in a fight. I can use any weapons and most armors just fine," Cliff motions to the shield, javelins, and daggers that he's also carrying on his person, "I just like axes most. Beyond that, in battle I can sort of enter a state where I shrug off blows caused by weapons. So if you ever need someone to stand in between you and a sword just yell 'Cliff.' I have met those who walked my same path that could also handle running through fire better than the average person, but I'm not quite there."

"You never do spars and exercises with me, you're stuck fantasizing over the kitchen maid..." Jessamine complained, making herself heard to Corvo for the first time in a week. Despite that she was in fact, only a sword, if you squinted you could almost make out a little pouty face.

"You're too dangerous to be used in a spar. If I do draw you, it means someone is going to die."

Mentally, Corvo replied to Jessamine in a somber tone as he crossed his arms and spoke on. "Besides, I've been trying to talk to you for a while...And her name is Komi, not kitchen maid. She deserves that much. Other than you, how many others back home ever looked at us like we weren't cursed?"

There was a pause as he added. "And I do NOT fantasize about her....Do I?"

Aloud, he cleared his throat as he spoke. "Myself, I'm a jack of all trades. I can fling swords with my arcane training as you've all seen me do. I have enough skill with weapons that allow me to use any of them in a pinch. I can invoke curses and fire doesn't hurt me as much. I also can fly so I can switch between melee to ranged without much difficulty."

He spread open a wing to reveal Jessamine on his hip as he added. "But I'm deadliest with my partner. We take care of each other and most of my techniques are devoted to how I can fight with her as one. Speaking of which, yes...My sword is a woman. Please address her kindly if you must and know that I consider her as much a part of our group as the rest of you." He let his wing drop down and waited for the rest.

"I'm good at hiding and throwing apples!" Behind the crew, Erine would shout out, jumping up and down to get their attention.

"My secret move is to hide behind something, and throw an apple really hard at their heads!"

She motioned as if she was throwing something, to emphasize her proficiency in the ability to throw fruit.

Corvo hummed in thought.

"Be that as it may. It can't surely hurt to train her further to defend herself just in case? We won't have much time, but it may spell the difference between enough time for one of us to make it to her side in the worse case scenario. It helps also that a slingshot is an easy weapon."

Komi rubbed the back of her head. Then she tried to speak. Several times.

Finally, she spoke.

"I am a cleric of the Church of Healing Unity, so my powers are... well, healing and unity. I can bind two people together temporarily and both of them will be better because of it during that time, which lasts about an hour. I know how to use some weapons and I have a couple offensive spells to use... just in case, but I prefer helping to harming. The rest of my skills... you've seen most of them. Oh, I do speak four languages."

Farley gathers with everyone else to hear what Corvo's surprise is. Of course he'd want to talk about combat. I mean, yes it is important for survival and an adventure always finds conflict. Maybe it was a way for them to get closer as a team, like he said.

"No questions here. I'd be happy to show you what I can do."

Anticipating the request for a proper sparring area, the ship groaned for a few seconds. After some vicious trashing about, The Angel Steve finally settled, although now transformed.

A improvised ring was now set up in the middle of the ship, with hemp ropes stretching across the masts forming a square. Sandbags dropped out of the sky, some falling suspiciously close to Muggy, other sandbags materialized with ropes, serving as impromptu punching bags.

"Oh yeah, I forgot he could do that..." Erine said, cracking a cheeky grin. "It's magic right?"

Now the party had an appropriate space to soar, and show off their sick fighting moves.

"Ah, thank you Steve." Corvo said aloud gratefully.

....The man talked to a sword, it wasn't hard to realize he had a habit of assuming almost everything had something similar as he beamed beneath the mask and spread his hands.

"So shall we draw straws as to who goes first? Or have we any volunteers?"

Komi was startled!  All of this change was so unexpected, her neko ears manifested, and she slowly backed away from the ring. "I'm a healer... I do have weapons training, everyone was required to at the temple, but do I really need to fight my own team to show you? Couldn't I... well... heal anyone who gets hurt in your mock fights, maybe?"

He stood off to the side and smiled briefly as he crossed his arms to watch.

OOC: @SSJRuss you're up first against me.

IC:

Where did Erine go? Looking around it's as she has vanished, disappearing suddenly from sight.

Suddenly, out from behind a crate pops up masked woman! She resembles Erine in body size, but her face is concealed by a empty sandbag with crude holes cut out for the eyes and mouth! Who could this be?!

The masked fighter turned and pointed at none other than the tranquil turtle himself, Farley.

"Hey turtle man! You're going nowhere. I got you for three minutes. Three minutes of playtime!" Not Erine shouted out, hopping into the makeshift ring.

*Sigh* "If you insist, I will do what I must."

Farley approaches the ring then closes his eyes. He takes off his straw hat and without warning throws himself into the air, balancing on top of his cane.

"I've heard of your kind, masked warrior. My name is Farley and I'm here to defeat you."

Farley flips off the cane and into the ring, bringing the cane with him. He then flips nimbly past Erine to the opposite corner of the ring and leaps on top of it. He spins the sits on top, crossing his legs and keeping his cane in his lap.
