Thor will beat him

Supes has lifted it before in a crossover, but those aren't canon so...

Thor. It would be an epic match, but Thor would strike down Superman in the end.

No, Superman would most likely not be able to pick it up.

Thor would win if it was Odin Force Thor, but since it would most likely be normal Thor, it could go either way.

Plus Superman CAN'T lift Thor's hammer, the only reason he could do so was because Thor allowed him to, for a short amount of time. Superman can't lift it otherwise.

Just look at the picture:

Thor is a better warrior. Better trained, and much more accustomed to fighting beings that can match his physical prowess. Thor takes it.

Thor. Of course. Always has been, always will be (Unless Supes gets a boost to his base power)

Superman cannot lift Mjolnir. JLA/Avengers is non-canon.

Only those who are worthy make take up Mjolnir, let along lift it. If Superman is deemed worthy by Thor himself, he would be able to pick it up. In a fight, Thor takes Superman down, being a higher level being. Kryptonians are like bugs to deities.

Even thought it dosen't count Superman defeated Thor in the cross-over, my vote goes to Superman.

Superman is faster than Thor and probably just as strong as him, plus he has Heat Vision and Ice Breath.

Opinions are wonderful things, aren't they? It's funny how someone can post a picture of Superman lifting Thor's hammer, and another of Thor EXPLAINING why Superman was able to lift his hammer, and still have people who outright deny this as a possibility.

Thor can travel at supersonic speeds in Earth's atmosphere and travel faster then the spped of light in space.

STRENGTH

From Thor's very first appearance, his strength has been portrayed as being top-tier. Here, he twists around iron bars effortlessly with his bare hands, from Journey Into Mystery #83:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ngth01JIM84.jpg

Here he carves a hammer out of uru with his fingers, from Journey Into Mystery #92:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ngth05JIM92.jpg

Onto pure pushing and lifting feats. Early on, Thor pushes over the Leaning Tower of Pisa with his finger, from Journey Into Mystery #92:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rStrength07.jpg

Onto pure pushing and lifting feats. Early on, Thor pushes over the Leaning Tower of Pisa with his finger, from Journey Into Mystery #92:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rStrength07.jpg

Thor actually lifts the Midgard Serpent away from the Earth. Note that the catastrophic effects of such a feat are actually physically felt on Earth, from Thor #327:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rength31327.jpg

Thor resists a force "as though half a planet" were bearing down on him, from Thor #140:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rength14140.jpg

And with repeated blows? Thor and Red Norvell literally wreck Asgard with their fist-fight and almost deafen Heimdall, from Thor #476:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rength41476.jpg

DURABILITY

And Thor has literally stood in the center of the Sun while confronting Atum in Thor Annual #14:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...eatAnnual14.jpg

Thor has resisted extreme ranges of heat throughout his career. Thor doesn't even register a reaction when immersed in lava, from Avengers #5:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...Avengers005.jpg

Another high-end feat, Thor is caught in a web of energy of an amped Thanosi who destroys a planet of 41 billion beings. Firelord knows he cannot resist such energies and frees Thor by, ironically, blasting Thor with his Power Cosmic, from Thor vol. 2 #25:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...9v225Energy.jpg

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ity40Energy.jpg

During the Kang Dynasty, Kang destroys Washington D.C. with a bomb, which Thor survives, from Avengers vol. 2 #49:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...1v249Energy.jpg

And while empowered, Odinforce Thor has resisted the Destroyer's beam of total disintegration in Thor vol. 3 #5:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...4v305Energy.jpg

And now SUPERSPEED

Here, Thor is about to have his face smashed by a cursed Mjolnir which is zooming back to him, but he moves swiftly enough on reaction to dodge it in Thor vol. 2 #27:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...uperspeed25.jpg

Here, we see Thor flying outside a window and when Jane Foster gets his attention, Thor manages to intercept Cobra's poison dart within a split-second. The dart is fired before he even is inside the room, just to give you the proper frame of reference to understand the speed and reflexes necessary in Journey Into Mystery #98

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...peed03JIM98.jpg

In terms of flight speed, he's flown at least three times the speed of light, from Thor #185:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...rSpeed01185.jpg

He time travels again in Journey Into Mystery #102:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ravelJIM102.jpg

Btw crossovers are not canons(Wonder women losing to Storm and Lobo losing to Wolverine is invalid.

Also thors hammer can absorb supermans attacks like it did Silver surfer, etc.

If this were silver age superman then it would be a different story.

Superboytowingplanets.jpg

But the problem is Silver age(classic Superman) is really really extremely weak against magic.

Rarely does Superman use his speed like should (like DBZ). Speed is his only advantage. Experience, strength, power array and skill go to the Norse god. That crossover was some of the worst crap I've ever read. Superman stopping Thor's hammer in full mad god swing, with one hand mind you...BS. That hammer should've broken every bone in his hand. Then, we bring up the ice breath and heat vision. Thor controls the world's weather. Not to mention the serious amounts of Norse magic Thor would be shoving down Superman's throat...Big blue goes down to the god of thunder.

I agree Ivan. I am a self proclaimed Marvelite and still I think Superman is more powerful and can win 8/10 matches against Thor.

Only way I see Thor winning is due to his Divine Magic. Which Superman is vulernable to. Odin often let worthy foes lift the hammer. Hulk has done this on many occaisions. So it's clearly possibly for Supes to lift it!

I know you all will think me biased but I dont care. Supes would beat Thor due to strength and speed. I have never seen a feat where Thor broke a planeor moon. In Superman: President Lex, Superman flew to Saturn and broke one of its moons in half within 4 minutes of the announcement of lex becoming president. Part of that 4 mins was him making an excuse on why he had to leave the room. Supermans heat vision has been claimed to be hotter than the sun. Lastly Superman NEVER uses his full power to prevent from killing. So just like Hulk he has never shown a limit to his strength.

Plus lifting Thors hammer all depends on people deemed worthy by Odin. It is made for a rightoues and virtueous person to lift Thor, but in the DC universe Superman would be just as noble.

Good points all... Except that I think Superman's fight with Doomsday(when he died) was a point when Superman fought his damnest! Secondly, what about Superman's weakness to magic.

He isnt exactly WEAK to magic. He is vulnerable. Basically it means Thors attacks could hurt him if powerful enough. (which I know they are) Magic doesnt make Supes really weaker. It just causes him to be able to be more subceptible* to attacks. Plus when he fought Doomsday in that story line, that Doomsday was strong enough to beat the JLA with one hand literally tied behind his back. Also thors hammer is not suppose to be very effective against heroes due to nobility. So his hammer would be less powerful. Thors control over whether wouldnt effect supes either. This would basically come down to fists and speed here. (plus supes other abilities)

* ignore my spelling.

Extra Abilities?

Thor has a pile of extra abilities too. Lightning? Storms? Etc. Then there's all the crazy stuff magic can do.

Heat vision hotter than the sun?

Thor's been inside the sun. Plus, how many people have battled Surtur and his Lavamen/demons? The demon has a sword which can cause rifts in dimensions!

And since when has Thor's hammer not affected heroes?

Just ask Iron Man...

Iron man is far froma noble person. People like Thor and The Thing are noble. Plus it was stated in an older comic after silver age that supes heat vision was off the charts and hotter than anything ever recorded. Like I said the storms will not effect Superman. Lightning has actually given hima small boost in strength before.

He survives this with barely a scratch.

http://img359.imageshack.us/i/deathofthene...s080260co1.jpg/

He does this to release anger due to lex becoming president.

http://img504.imageshack.us/i/satsoontb5.jpg/

This is also a very powerful magical being

Superman vs. Etrigan

Superman harmlessly shrugged off a blow from the magical demon Etrigan. The blow actually knocked Superman from Earth's surface, all the way to the moon (239,000 miles). Superman was virtually unfazed. He also shrugged off magical demon-fire and his super-lungs harmlessly inhaled the demon's magical gases.

Superman is a good character but he couldnt even shatter a moon without geting hurt.

Thor could easily destroy a planet.

Superman has no chance against Rune King Thor or Odin Force Thor.

Thors powers:

While on the higher end, when attacking a Celestial with all his might and donning his Belt of Strength, a Mjolnir swing causes mountaintops to be instantly destroyed and "the entire planet is rocked by its brutal reverberations!" From Thor #388:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ingPower388.jpg

And when you double the striking power of Mjolnir? You get a shockwave of enchanted energy that reverberates throughout "the length and breadth of the entire cosmos" and "simultaneously across all planes of reality!" From Thor #439:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ingPower439.jpg

He uses it next to pierce Exitar the Celestial's dome in Thor #389:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...Godblast389.jpg

Here, he blows right through Onslaught. Consider also that a fullpower blast from Cyclops only caused a tiny crack, from Uncanny X-Men #336:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...owerUncanny.jpg

A blow from Mjolnir can even cause Abstracts, like Galactus, pain in Thor #161:

http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/...ingPower161.jpg

Later, he knocks out a weakened Galactus with Mjolnir in Fantastic Four #242:

I couldnt because my lapop is running slow.

Superman loses why because Thors hammers magic way stronger then any magic Superman faced.

Thor does not need magic he can use speed, godblast(which took down Galactus did you read see what I posted?)

Thor has survived standing in the center iof the sun and planet busting impacts I already posted my prove just look at what I posted.

People think Thor beats supe by magic no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 By more experience and more power.

Thor has lived longer then Superman. He is like about a thousand years old. Because he is a god.

Also he beats him by physical force. Thor has alot of experience with fighting since he lived longer and fought many powerful people.
