Rumble 18062 Raylan Givens vs. Richard Kimble
JohnnyChany replied to Boratz's topic in CBUB Unrated Rumbles
Kimble: I didn't kill my wife! Givens: I don't care. Kimble: Why does everyone say that. Great idea for a match, my money is on Kimble finding a way to clear his name before he his captured. -
Match 18064 Meat vs. Gooey Gus
JohnnyChany replied to broadwaybeyonder's topic in CBUB Rated Matches
Awesome. Not often do you see PBS characters in a Mortal Kombat setting. I am rooting for Gooey Gus to obtain his first victory. Seeing him here reminds me that I have always wanted to find a way to do a Ghostwriter vs. Ghost Rider match that makes some sort of sense lol. -
Rumble 18059 Te Ka vs. Pitch Black vs. Yokai

Could Yokai discover the secret that Te Ka is actually Te Fiti and obtain her heart from Maui and restore it thus "defeating" her? -
GAINING AN EDGE: A MASSIVE FIGHTING GAME CROSSOVER PART 185 Ryu Hayabusa, Yoshimitsu, and Yoshimitsu’s protege pressed their way through the never ending maze when the protege, current holder of the much sought after Soul Edge in his mechanical arm, slowly came to a stop and leaned against a nearby tree. “Are you okay?” asked Yoshimitsu. “Feel a little dazed, just need a breather,” his protege responded. “It has been awhile since we stopped moving,” noted Ryu. The three agreed to take a small break. Within a minute of their stoppage the trio was joined by Ryu Hayabusa’s own protege, Momiji. The Dragon Shrine Maiden descended from the treetops and bowed respectfully toward Ryu Hayabusa. “What news do you bring?” he inquired. “News both good and troubling,” Momiji answered. “The fortune teller, Viola, used her abilities to reach out into the world and locate more members of the Soul Calibur alliance. Whilst doing so she located Rachel.” (REF: HONOKA VS. IBUKI) “Rachel? That is a great boost for our forces,” Ryu opined. “I thought so too, but unfortunately I was foolish in my enthusiasm and had Viola reveal to Rachel our location without properly canvassing the area,” Momiji reported. “Who else was there?” “A man named Zasalamel. Viola informed me that he is an immortal warrior from long before the defeat of Soul Edge and he has pursued the wicked sword for his own selfish purposes for centuries. She said he has been a constant thorn in the side of those who wish to keep Soul Edge dormant,” Momiji explained. (REF: ALEX VS. ZASALAMEL) Yoshimitsu piped in. “That would be an accurate statement.” (REF: ZASALAMEL VS. DEE JAY) “Are you certain that he also acquired the knowledge of Soul Edge’s location?” Hayabusa inquired. “I am only certain that he knows that Rachel knows. How he tries to pry that information from her I can’t say. Viola lost her connection to the other medium as soon as she spotted him.” “My assumption would be that he attacked her at that moment to force her to tell him,” Ryu guessed. Yoshimitsu wasn’t so sure. “Maybe, maybe not. If this Rachel woman has set this place as her destination, he could simply follow her here. Zasalamel is a patient and calculated man. (REF: ZASALAMEL VS. SAGAT) If she is ignorant of his existence, she would have no way of stopping him from doing so.” Ryu Hayabusa thought over this possibility. “He will never reach this place, I will see to it,” Momiji declared. “I have created this mess, and I will clean it up.” “I appreciate your devotion to taking responsibility, but do you understand what you are dedicating yourself to, young lady?” Yoshimitsu asked. “After it happened, I picked Viola’s brain about him. I know he uses a scythe as a weapon. I know his most dangerous ability is his ability to momentarily stop time. Viola told me it is extremely brief and he can only do it sparingly as it requires a huge amount of energy,” Momiji recounted. “He activates this ability with a purple aura from his hands. I know what to look for and I will be ready for it. I will cut his hands clear from his wrists with my naginata if I need to.” “Zasalamel is much more than one single ability,” warned Yoshimitsu. “He is big, he is strong, he is very crafty. He is also extremely vicious. He has shredded many warriors to pieces with his scythe.” “I have slain countless demons and monsters,” Momiji proclaimed proudly. “I fear no immortal scythe swinging man.” Yoshimitsu looked over to Ryu Hayabusa. “She is your apprentice, correct? The one that defeated Seong Mi-Na (REF: SEONG MI-NA VS. MOMIJI) and then rescued Viola, Z.W.E.I. and Talim (REF: MOMIJI VS. VEGA) from multiple threats?" (REF: MOMIJI VS. JURI HAN) Ryu nodded. “Then let me add some praise to my warning,” stated Yoshimitsu. “If there is anyone around who can stop him, it would be you, my lady.” Momiji nodded respectfully. “Thank you.” Ryu addressed Momiji directly. “Be careful.” “Yes, Master Ryu. I will rejoin you once the mission is complete,” Momiji promised. The Dragon Shrine Maiden then jumped upward and disappeared from sight. Yoshimitsu turned back to his own apprentice. “Are you ready to resume?” The Yoshimitsu in training shouted in agony and grabbed his non mechanical arm. “Oh no, it cannot be,” said Yoshimitsu. “What is happening?” inquired Ryu. The protege hunched over on the ground as the three fingered oversized claw of the Azure Knight, Nightmare, began to form around his right arm. “It is too late, we cannot hesitate,” declared Yoshimitsu. The leader of the Manji Clan lifted his sword to strike down his transforming friend, but the protege quickly grabbed Soul Edge off the ground and blocked his attack. A dark, gravely and familiar voice emerged from the protege as he lifted his head. “You fools. Blood, darkness, I will cover the world in both!” He stood up, wielding the cursed sword proudly, his eyes yellow, his skin gray, white markings covered his body, and a mystical flame started to form around him. “You have failed!” he taunted. Just then, a blade pierced him in the back and through his chest. The blade was pulled from his body and the protege fell dead to the ground. The small spurts of mystical flame returned quickly to the sword. Standing where he once stood with her sword pointed outward was Sophitia Alexandra. And next to her was Seong Mi-Na. “It looks like we got here just in time,” noted Seong Mi-Na. (REF: ANGEL VS. ZANGIEF) “Was that the Nightmare you had told me about?” Ryu asked Yoshimitsu. “She took him out rather quickly.” Sophitia interjected. “My Omega Sword was blessed by the gods and we were fortunate that the Azure Knight had not yet fully transformed.” Sophitia pointed to Soul Edge which was now glowing and the eye attached to it was moving. “However, our problems have only just begun.” “It is searching for a proper host,” Yoshimitsu stated solemnly. —---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Utilizing the images implanted in her head by Viola via Zafina as a map, Rachel journeyed toward the never ending maze to reunite with Ryu and get her hands on Soul Edge. Although she was confident in her direction, there was some hesitation in her movements. “You should pick up the pace,” taunted the demon that was possessing her. “Our mutual goal is almost in our grasp.” “My goal is almost in my grasp. Your goal means nothing to me and once you are given your own corporeal body, I will slay you foul demon,” Rachel threatened. “We shall see.” “Still, I can’t stop thinking about that name,” Rachel admitted. “What name?” “Zasalamel. There was fear in the seer’s voice when she uttered it. And the ancient warrior was equally wary of him,” Rachel recalled. “So?” “I don’t like walking into situations when I don’t know all the players,” stated Rachel. “Zasalamel, whoever he is, if he tries to get in our way we will destroy him as we have, or should I say as you have (REF: CHUN-LI VS. RACHEL), everyone else that has stood in our path,” the demon declared. (REF: RACHEL VS. ZAFINA) A familiar, but unexpected face jumped down in front of the fiend hunter. “Momiji!” Rachel exclaimed. “It is wonderful to see you again, Rachel,” Momiji responded. “What are you doing here? According to the visions I have seen, there is still a little ways to go before I reach the maze.” “That’s right Viola described to me all the visions she gave to you so I was able to figure out your route,” explained Momiji. “I was just so anxious to see you to make sure you were okay. I didn’t get to physically see you when Viola made contact. I wanted to discover if you had been hurt.” Rachel smiled. “Your concern is appreciated, but I am fine and ready to fight.” “What happened to you before?” asked Momiji. “When Kasumi sought you out at that castle?” “I stepped into a bad situation with my fiend hunting partner,” Rachel answered. (REF: RACHEL VS. SHURA) “Afterward I had to get my head right. My mind is clear now. I can explain more once we rejoin Ryu.” Rachel had continued walking, but quickly noticed Momiji was not. “Momiji?” “I must admit your safety and relative well-being wasn’t my only reason for coming out here. There is something I must do to get my head right and clear my mind,” Momiji announced. “But fear not, as soon as it is done, I will be back with you and Master Ryu.” Rachel was confused by this. However, she respected her friend’s wishes and continued on toward the never ending maze. As soon as Rachel was a safe distance away, Momiji stared into the sky. “Zasalamel! Zasalamel! I know you are listening! Come and fight me if you want to get to Soul Edge!” There was no response. Momiji continued. “If you try to keep following Rachel, know this, you aren’t the only one who can travel in the shadows. Wherever you go, I will be there waiting.” A portal opened up and Zasalamel stepped through. “I don’t believe I have ever been called out in such a way,” he observed. “You knew I was watching and following your friend, yet you said nothing to her.” “I don’t want Rachel to feel responsible for bringing you this close to Soul Edge. The burden of that responsibility is mine alone.” A smile appeared on Zasalamel’s face. “You are right, it is close. I can feel it in my bones.” “You will get no closer!” Momiji promised.

Rumble 18058 Jin Saotome vs. Tommy Oliver
JohnnyChany replied to JohnnyChany's topic in CBUB Unrated Rumbles
In my mind I pictured the fight going like a Power Rangers episode where as soon as it is clear one of them may be losing, they summon their zord or mech and then wait patiently as the other one does the same. At least in this instance, the respect would make some more sense as opposed to Rita's monsters waiting politely for the Ranger's zords to arrive on the scene instead of just stepping on them. -
Match 18061 Guile vs. Cassandra Alexander
JohnnyChany replied to JohnnyChany's topic in CBUB Rated Matches
The first 5th Round Match! On one side, Cassandra has smashed through several SNK fighters, having defeated Vice, Kula Diamond, Blue Mary, and Darli Dagger. On the other side, this will be Guile's first match against someone from a franchise other than Tekken after having beaten Sergei Dragunov, Lei Wulong, Marshall Law, and King. -
Great to see you making a match, SSJRuss. Very intrigued with what you are putting together here, definitely leaving the door open to do whatever you want really. I just recently purchased the big Kingdom Hearts mix of games because I have not yet played any of them. As for the match, I know it is hard for some people, including myself to judge Yamcha objectively and not as the comic relief butt of jokes that he became. He is obviously very skilled and the Wolf Fang Fist is no joke. I assume that this is Dragonball Yamcha before the endless power boosts of DBZ to put them at comparable strength levels. I am still going with the Prince who has the added advantage of remembering fighting alongside Yamcha which would give him some familiarities with Yamcha's go to techniques.

GAINING AN EDGE: A MASSIVE FIGHTING GAME CROSSOVER PART 184 The fortune teller, Rose, desperately tried to think of a safe space to go as she fled the Soul Edge charged explosion where Dhalsim remained to try and subdue a malfested, angry Mai Shiranui. (REF: MAI SHIRANUI VS. DHALSIM). Using her teleportation powers, Rose was able to snatch up Guy, Ryo Sakazaki, and Maki Genryusai from the battleground, but remained unsure of where to take her fallen allies. Rose immediately ruled out the local hospital where they had taken Terry Bogard. The hospital, itself, had proven to be a chaotic battleground, with fights (REF: DHALSIM VS. RYUJI YAMAZAKI) breaking out (REF: SHIKI VS. YANG) all over the facility. (REF: CHUN-LI VS. RACHEL) Fortunately for Rose, at that moment fate smiled upon her. She was contacted telepathically by one of her first new allies when this adventure began, the Psycho Soldier, Athena Asamiya. (REF: BENIMARU NIKAIDO VS. Z.W.E.I.) “Rose, I hope you are doing well. I apologize if you had tried to reach out to me recently. I have been on the mend due to being beaten in a fight,” stated Athena. “Did you have another battle with a warrior from the past?” asked Rose. (REF: ATHENA ASAMIYA VS. CHAI XIANGHUA) “No. The girl that fought and defeated me had no relation to Soul Edge at all. (REF: IBUKI VS. ATHENA ASAMIYA) I’m a little disappointed in myself,” Athena admitted. “What of your mission overall?” Rose inquired. “After we failed to seal the warriors from the past, (REF: CHIZURU KAGURA VS. KAZUMI MISHIMA) we regrouped and tried to add more to our ranks. We initially were intent on recruiting Kyo’s friend, Goro Daimon, but we ended up with a different set of really strong fighters. (REF: TERRY BOGARD VS. KAZUYA MISHIMA) Although at this point we seem to be recruiting and losing allies at the same time due to the corrupting power of Soul Edge,” Athena lamented. (REF: HITOMI VS. KEN MASTERS) “I know exactly what you mean,” Rose said knowingly. “It feels like my recruitment of more heroes to prevent the chaos has only added to it.” (REF: MAKI GENRYUSAI VS. MAI SHIRANUI) “We did run into Ryu,” Athena informed. “That is one of the bigger fighters you were seeking isn’t it?” “Ryu is with you?” “Yes, well, he was. Honoka just told me he went on some rushed mission with Kyo. (REF: RYU VS. OROCHI) Hopefully, he will be back soon. Honoka wasn’t very specific, so I’ll ask for more details as soon as she comes back with our newest teammate, Eliot. (REF: HONOKA VS. IBUKI) It should be any minute. This place is big, but not that big. Really, it has been our greatest achievement so far that we have a base of operations now, the Kanzuki Estate. Wish I had better news, Rose.” Rose smiled broadly. “Oh Athena, that is wonderful news, and something I am in desperate need of. I have some fallen friends and nowhere to take them.” “We have the room, and the amenities here are really nice,” Athena reported with joy. “Karin must be accustomed to having her people treat injured fighters.” “I will see you soon,” Rose promised. “Great.” Athena’s tone changed slightly. “Rose, what is the plan after that?” “We regroup with the rest of my team and locate the sword I saw in a shared vision. (REF: KILIK VS. ASH CRIMSON) At this point it may be our only hope,” Rose informed. —-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guile arrived in Mexico on a DOATEC helicopter commissioned for him by Helena Douglas. Once there he reviewed the intel on Cassandra Alexandra he had received from Heidern and rushed to the port to try and catch her before any potential departure. (REF: GUILE VS. KING) He found the warrior from the Ottoman Empire sitting in an empty boathouse next to her Omega sword and Nemea shield. Without standing up or even turning to face him, she asked, “Are you with those other military men who have been watching me since I arrived in this port?” “Not exactly,” Guile responded. “But I am developing a working relationship with their boss.” “Ah yes, that general from that forsaken village. The one with the eyepatch?” (REF: KING VS. HAKAN) “That is correct,” Guile confirmed. Cassandra stood up to face Guile with sword and shield in hand. “And what is your name?” “Major Guile. One of my closest friends almost died in that village.” (REF: LARS ALEXANDERSSON VS. LEONA HEIDERN) "A lot of chaotic violence happened there, I am sorry for your friend," stated Cassandra. “I actually just recently met your sister, Sophitia. She saved me from my malfestation by Soul Edge,” Guile explained. A half smile appeared on Cassandra’s face. “Saving people is what she does best.” “Yeah she’s amazing. She talked to me a lot about you to help me remain calm and focused when I was coming out of my darkness,” Guile gushed. “When I heard you were here, I had to come and find you myself so that I could bring you in, reunite with Sophitia, and we all could take down this thing once and for all.” “It is a sweet gesture. The answer is no,” Cassandra responded flatly. “Excuse me?” “I’m not sure what Sophitia told you about me, but what she should have told you was that I was wrong and she was right,” stated Cassandra. “I don’t understand.” “Sophitia always understood that defeating Soul Edge was her mission, her duty, and it was wrong to put that burden on others. Until recently, I had always argued with her that asking others for help was not only the right thing to do but necessary to win,” Cassandra detailed. “Sophitia was right.” “Pardon, but I still don’t follow,” Guile admitted. “I’m sure your heart is in the right place, but your involvement in this quest is no longer needed or wanted,” said Cassandra. “I already had one ally from your time period. It did not go well. (REF: BLUE MARY VS. MILA) Even now, I feel horrible. I have to abandon her here which is not something I am want to do.” “Blue Mary informed me about fighting the woman that was with you. No judgment against her, I don’t believe she was in her element in this world she had stumbled into. I am. I am prepared to battle the threat head on,” Guile declared. “Are you?” Cassandra questioned. “You have already admitted to being malfested once. (REF: LEI WULONG VS. GUILE) Would you have the spirit, the heart, to resist Soul Edge’s temptation a second time? Even if you weren’t defeated as easily as Mila, we would still have to worry about you turning on us. Sophitia and I can’t afford that kind of distraction.” “Now that I have seen and felt it, I can recognize and resist it,” Guile insisted. “You may believe that, but it is much more difficult than you realize. It’s not just overwhelming for the uninitiated like yourself. It appears that Soul Edge is gaining influence and power by the minute, to the point that even warriors who have understood and battled its presence for centuries are succumbing to its allure,” Cassandra informed. “Before you showed up here, I had to battle and put down a friend I have known for a very long time, one of the fiercest warriors I had ever met, because she had let the Soul Edge shards inside her poison her heart. (REF: CASSANDRA VS. DARLI DAGGER) And it’s not just her. Hilde was defeated in battle. Maxi was defeated and kidnapped. Ivy disappeared,” Cassandra recounted. “Even when things are at their bleakest, you can’t give up hope. You have to keep the faith that…” Cassandra interrupted. “I do have faith! Faith In myself, and in my sister. We have trained for this all our lives, we were molded for this, and we alone shall put an end to it!” Guile was taken aback. “You are definitely not what I had pictured in my head from your sister’s stories.” “Families are very precious things,” Cassandra observed. “Do you have family, Major Guile?” “Yes m’am. A wife and daughter,” Guile responded. “Do me a favor, go home and be a family man for a while. Treasure your time together,” Cassandra requested. “If Sophitia and I fail, there will be plenty more time for war.” “If there is a good fight that needs to be fought, I can’t in good conscience sit it out. It is not who I am,” Guile declared. “You don’t know where Soul Edge is. I do. I am sure it is where my sister is heading toward right now because she realizes as I now do that the time we had feared is upon us,” Cassandra proclaimed. Guile did not respond, his expression was a mix of disbelief and disappointment. “Still, I know better than to underestimate the ability of modern heroes to eventually locate Soul Edge. So, if I can’t dissuade you from this course by my words then I will have to achieve it through battle,” Cassandra decided. “What?” “I much rather face you here and now and prove to you that you are not ready than later when you have been enslaved by the Evil Seed once more,” Cassandra reasoned. “No, I don’t want to do this. This is a mistake,” Guile insisted. “It’s a bad idea.” “Sometimes those are the only options left.”

I think it's good to bring attention to this, since there are some like me who weren't aware that IKA was going to attempt to take it over. I will be pitching in because I really like this site, and I can. But I don't think anyone should feel obligated to have to do it. It will be a sweet surprise if it works out.

I did try to pair up a lot of the series antagonists and protagonists as I assume they would all be favored over the majority of side characters. -
Thanks. I'm only mildly familiar with D.Va from seeing my friend's kids play Overwatch a ton. But, I figured she deserved a proper match on here. Thanks. I must say I am surprised you gave that emoji to the non booba lady lol, but perhaps it is from familiarity. Are you an Overwatch player, Venom?

The Ultimate Multiversal Texas Hold Em Tournament is being Held for an ungodly amount of money. The Ocean's Eleven crew have decided they want to steal the money and use Yugi Mutou as a distraction on the floor. Why you may ask? Yugi is a dramatic, intense card player. After convincing him it would be a good idea to join, they spend three months teaching him the game. Meanwhile Mike McDermott (Rounders) and Bret Maverick Jr. (Maverick), two of film's best card players, who also aren't above a hustle or two, enter in the tournament to help each other out and plan to split the winnings. The Tournaments sponsors hire Gambit and Oswald to work the event undercover to protect the integrity of the game. Both men have a keen eye for the criminal element given their histories, both men can blend in easy as they are never without a deck of cards, and both men can kill with those cards at a moment's notice. WHO ENDS UP WITH THE MONEY?

D.Va arrived in the small town of Kalm, just outside the mighty metropolis of Midgar. She traveled to this strange land to meet with the rebel faction, AVALANCHE. She entered the town and went straight to the tavern to meet with her contact, Jessie Raspberry. Jessie greeted her warmly. JESSIE: Hey, how was your trip? Should I call you Hana or do you prefer D.Va? D.VA: D.Va is fine. Midgar is hard to miss. That Shinra Tower is enormous. JESSIE: Yeah, they are really proud of it. I am really happy to have you have decided to join us, if you don’t mind my asking what brought you to the cause? D.VA: The Shinra Electric Power Company wants to build a reactor in my home country. Their spokespeople seemed slimy so I looked into them and I didn’t like what I found. JESSIE: They are bad people. They are destroying the planet and lots of lives, all in the name of profit. They also don’t respond well to rejection. D.VA: I don’t want that in my home. However I can help take them down, I’m willing to do it. JESSIE: That’s great to hear. For me, it’s so exciting to have another tech girl on the team. There aren’t many of us around. D.VA: Are you a gamer too? JESSIE: I dabble a little bit, but not really. D.VA: Do you pilot a mech? JESSIE: I would love to someday but I haven’t had the opportunity. I mainly work in hacking, creating fake IDs, schematics, that sort of thing. Oh, I also design my own bombs. D.VA: Ok, cool. So what’s the plan? JESSIE: We think our best chance to take down Shinra is our main group of Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, and some others. Hopefully you can meet them someday. they are really strong and really awesome. They are dealing with Shinra abroad while also chasing down a guy named Sephiroth. It’s a long story. To help them out, the ones left in Midgar, Biggs, Wedge, and myself, are targeting the Weapon Development department of the Shinra building. Take them out and their military might is severely compromised. D.VA: It still blows my mind that an electric company has a military. JESSIE: They have a whole lot more than that, trust me. Luckily for us, although they develop a large amount of their weapons in the Shinra building, there isn’t a huge military presence on sight. D.VA: Then why do you need me? JESSIE: There are still soldiers there. With the intel provided by Barret and Tifa from their raid, Biggs, Wedge, and I should be able to avoid a lot of the security forces. We can handle a few security officers and sentry rays should the need arise, but then we get to the big guns. Jessie placed a couple of pictures on the counter. JESSIE: Those are sweepers and armored shock troopers, and they are admittedly out of our league. We will need you and your mech to take them down, and that is before we get to the main event. Jessie placed one more picture on the counter. JESSIE: That is Scarlet, the Head of Weapon Development for Shinra, and her latest design, the Crimson Mare. She took it out for a test drive a week ago and wiped out another AVALANCHE cell’s base in minutes. D.VA: That is a massive mech. JESSIE: Yeah it is. Our mission is to take out Scarlet and her most prized weapon to date. I wish I had more useful information on the mech, but this picture is the only thing I have. I am worried if we spend more time trying to get intel, Scarlet will use that thing to take down many more innocent lives. D.VA: Understood. I am up for the challenge.

Tournament Summary for combatants: Honoka defeated Hinako Shijou (King of Fighters) in Round 1, Edmund Honda (Street Fighter) in Round 2, and Kolin (Street Fighter) in Round 3 Ibuki defeated Mina Makijina (Samurai Shodown) in Round 1, Athena Asamiya (King of Fighters) in Round 2, and Eliot (Dead or Alive) in Round 3 Probably the most surprising of the characters still going to me. For reference, I have used 210 characters in this story and including these two fighters and the other two ongoing matches there are 22 characters left who have not lost or tied yet.

GAINING AN EDGE: A MASSIVE FIGHTING GAME CROSSOVER PART 183 The Dragon Shrine maiden, Momiji, stood with ancient seer, Viola, in a forest clearing. “Are you ready?” Momiji asked gently. “Yes. Are you sure this is the course of action you wish to take?” Viola wondered. “Master Ryu is convinced it is the best move to make and I agree with him,” Momiji answered. (REF: GUY VS. RYO SAKAZAKI) “What have your visions been telling you, fortune teller, since you have been resuscitated?” “That all stars will come together in the night sky above the tallest building in Japan,” Viola foretold. “If everyone is converging in pursuit of Soul Edge wouldn’t you agree that pulling all of your allies together to defend its position would be a wise move?” “I have come around to the way of thinking that bringing us all in one place will only strengthen Soul Edge and bring its pursuers directly to us,” Viola countered. “Good. We are not afraid. Better us to fight them on ground then on on thiers,” Momiji explained. “There are many good people in this fight and if we gather them here, evil won’t stand a chance.” Viola acquiesced. “Very well. I will try to establish a link between myself and the other seers that have come into contact with Soul Edge.” Viola closed her eyes and mystical energy swirled around her. “I have located the tomb guardian. She is in a rough patch (REF: RACHEL VS. ZAFINA) and her light is diminishing. Pretty soon it may extinguish all together.” “I wonder if there is anything we can do to help her.” “I can ask her permission to see through her eyes if it may be of assistance to her,” Viola announced. “Yes, please.” Viola was silent for a few moments. “She has agreed.” Viola opened her eyes and they were nothing but pure white light. Similarly in the alleyway near the G-Corporation Millenium Tower where Zafina was fighting Rachel, her pupils also went completely white. “She is losing a fight against a blonde warrior woman in black leather. I do not recognize her,” Viola proclaimed. Momiji gasped. “Could that be Rachel? Kasumi had lost track of her. (REF: ELIZA VS. NYOTENGU) Viola, are you able to speak through the tomb guardian? We may be able to save her as well as gain a powerful ally in this fight we thought we had lost.” “Yes,” replied Viola. Back in the alley, Rachel pinned Zafina against the wall with her long leather boot and cracked Zafina across the face with her war hammer. Zafina fell hard with a thud to the ground. Rachel turned her attention back to the reason she was there, Hwang. The ancient Korean hero was still slouched in pain next to a dumpster. Rachel suddenly paused her walk back to him when she sensed an unfamiliar presence in the air. She readied herself for another fight but was caught off guard when she heard her name come from the mouth of her fallen opponent. “Rachel! Are you the one named Rachel?” Zafina called out from the ground. Rachel turned her body back toward Zafina and stepped toward her. “Do you know me?” “This woman, Zafina, does not know you and is barely holding on to consciousness,” was the reply. “My name is Viola, I am a seer like Zafina and I am trying to stop the resurrection of Soul Edge.” Rachel’s ears perked up. At that moment, a portal opened up next to Hwang and Zasalamel stepped through with the intention of taking the injured warrior as he had done with Maxi in Mexico. (REF: CASSANDRA ALEXANDRA VS. DARLI DAGGER) When the conversation between Zafina and Rachel reached his ears, he hesitated. “I have come into contact with your friends, Momiji and Ryu Hayabusa, who also share that goal. Currently Ryu watches over the sword,” Viola informed via Zafina. “They have requested your presence to help them. Simply grab Zafina’s hand and we will show you the way.” “It could be a trick,” the demon possessing Rachel since her fight with Shura opined. (REF: RACHEL VS. SHURA) Rachel approached the hand with some hesitation. “If this is a trap and you have somehow hurt Hayabusa it will be the last mistake you ever make, seer,” she threatened. Rachel took Zafina’s hand and convulsed as images filled her head. “Ryu, it’s really you. You’ve done it,” she marveled. Rachel let go of Zafina’s hand and the images ceased. “Now that you know the way it is important that you make haste and arrive as quickly as possible, the battles for the sword are imminent,” Viola instructed. She took note of Hwang a short distance away. “Also, bring Hwang with you he….” Viola stopped mid sentence when she recognized the hooded figure in close proximity to Hwang. “Zasalamel?” The shock of seeing the immortal warrior startled Viola and broke her concentration. She lost her connection to Zafina and collapsed in Momiji’s arms. “What happened? Are you alright?” Momiji asked. Viola admonished herself. “He was there. I was giving out the directions on how to get to Soul Edge, and he was right there. How could I have been so foolish?” “Whoever HE is, you gave the location to Rachel. He would have to get it from her, right?” “Well yes, or he simply could follow her here, Zasalamel is nothing if not patient,” stated Viola. “If he does try a different way to get the information he could get here quicker than anyone else. He has power unlike anyone you have come across yet and an obsession with utilizing Soul Edge.” “I see,” Momiji said solemnly. “Then it will be my duty to stop him. I feel responsible for the way he has found out, so it will be my responsibility to make sure he does not reach Soul Edge. Tell me everything you know about him.” Back in the alleyway, Zasalamel slipped backward into the shadows as Zafina’s body slumped back to the ground. He remained out of view of Rachel as she spun on her heel to figure out what had just happened. “Someone else is here,” she noted. “Who is Zasalamel?” “Zasalamel is bad news,” answered Hwang. Zasalamel weighed his options and considered revealing himself and attacking Rachel for the information she had just received, but then he thought better of it. All he would have to do is let her lead him to Soul Edge, He smirked and disappeared into a portal. In the alley, Rachel stood ready for anything with her war hammer held out firmly in front of her. She eased her grip slightly. “That is strange, the presence has disappeared. What is going on here?” —------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inside the Kanzuki Estate, Honoka went to go visit her favorite pop star, Athena Asamiya, who was recovering in a large guest room after her fight against Ibuki. (REF: IBUKI VS. ATHENA ASAMIYA) “Are you sure there isn’t anything else I can get for you?” asked Honoka. “You are so sweet, But, really, I am fine,” Athena insisted. “Karin’s staff has been taking good care of me. I only wish that…” “What?” “I wish I was out there actively helping instead of stuck up here recuperating,” Athena lamented. “I’m sorry, Athena.” Honoka straightened out her arms and stomped on the ground. “This is all that stupid ninja girl’s fault. She had some nerve. The others should have let me teach her some respect.” Athena smiled. “That wouldn’t have helped anything. Misunderstandings happen. And if she is skilled enough to take me down, she could be a great help.” “Kyo and Ryu must not have thought so,” Honoka retorted. “They didn’t bring her along when they rushed out of here.” (REF: RYU VS. OROCHI) “Kyo and Ryu left?” asked Athena. “Yeah, a little while ago,” Honoka confirmed. “Is Karin back yet?” Athena inquired. Honoka shook her head no. “She is still out with Ken helping Hitomi after her freakout.” (REF: HITOMI VS. KEN MASTERS) “Who is still here?” Athena wondered. “That annoying ninja girl and uh.. Eliot. He came with Hitomi. He is a sweet boy. I’ve fought him before in the Dead or Alive tournaments.” An idea popped into Honoka’s head. “I bet he would love to meet you, he is just too shy which is why he hasn’t come up here yet. Hold on a minute, and I will go grab him. This will be great.” “Always happy to meet my fans,” said Athena with a smile. Honoka skipped out of Athena’s room and toward the main hall. Near the kitchen area, Eliot and Ibuki were engaged in combat. (REF: IBUKI VS. ELIOT) Eliot’s short, impactful strikes against Ibuki were effective but his technique was off. Whereas Eliot typically fought a defensive fight, the unbridled rage controlling him through his exposure to Soul Edge caused him to ignore those principles and remain firmly in the offensive. This resulted in an overall sloppy showing from Gen Fu’s prized pupil. Ibuki took advantage of a whiffed forward strike from Eliot and hit him with a split kick in the air. She then jumped on his back and spun him out from behind before dropping a small explosive on him. The explosion propelled Eliot into the air where Ibuki was waiting with a swift combination of punches and kicks. Ibuki threw a couple of kunai at Eliot’s feet to lock him in place so that she could hit him with her combos uninterrupted until he was eventually knocked out. “I’m sorry about this, but you need to calm down mister,” she declared. Honoka entered the area just in time to see Ibuki’s final strikes. “What are you doing?” Honoka demanded. “Leave him alone!” “Wait a minute, I can explain,” said Ibuki. “I don’t want to hear it, there is no good reason to attack Eliot. You are a bad person and I knew it from the moment I saw you,” Honoka accused. (REF: SHIKI VS. KAGE-MARU) “No, no, no, he attacked me,” Ibuki insisted. “Lies. Why would I believe you? First Athena, and now Eliot, you are a menace and you need to be dealt with.” Honoka declared. Ibuki gave up her protestations and simply cursed her horrible luck as she readied herself to fight.

If I may ask, what draws you specifically to the remake versions of the horror icons? Are they stronger? weaker? Of the three I've only seen the 2003 Texas Chainsaw remake so I'm curious. Going by the versions I know I see Team 2 being able to survive. If Teen Scream Queens can survive, then they can too.
