Story

In a world where the Sun has turned into a Red Giant unexpectedly, before it destroys the Earth, a well known mutant stops the humongous star from devouring the planet by making a barrier which hold the Red Giant off but not before the massive amounts of radiation render many countries incapable of allowing people to live in them anymore, and although it has lasted for 20 years, it appears that two years are all that the barrier has enough energy left to withstand, unless the mutant's three pow

Marvel's Corner: Gold Cup Edition

Welcome one and all! This is Marvel's Corner!   We are back! After a few months long turf war with some other blogs, a tornado strike on our HQ, and a battle over union rights with my staff, Marvel's Corner is back. Don't worry, I crushed my staff's spirit. Those socialists were draining me dry. "We have car payments to make... My kid can't drop out of school, she's only in fourth grade... Blah blah... You can't pay me with Marvel money, that stuff doesn't exist... I haven't eaten in days..." Yo

Anatomy of a Game episode 1

Nearly everyone who's ever played a Capcom fighting game will tell you that it's a blast. But what makes them so great? Welcome to Anatomy of a Game, my first blog feature. In it, I'm going to try to disect games so that I can see what makes them tick.   Anyway, back on topic. Little bit of backstory. Capcom basically pioneered the fighting game genre. They did not however, create it. There were multiple, much more primitive fighting games released before it. Few, however have created such a big

Reports Of My Death, Yadda Yadda Yadda...

Hi, guys. Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been around on the site for a while. Most of you probably didn't give it a second thought. I just wanted to say that, yes, I am still alive and intend to begin contributing to Electric Ferret once again (time permitting).   I suppose I'll explain my absence, just in case somebody was actually wondering where I was. Primarily, my school's baseball season began. I enjoy playing baseball, and have been spending hours at practices/games. This has

A Hero's Awakening Chapter 2

Important Note: The previous chapter was from Travis' perspective, this is from his cousin Cody's perspective. -Chapter 2- “It’s better to be caught than to be caught in a lie†~ Cody Fox Travis once told me that if I didn’t do my homework, I just don’t have to raise my hand and the teacher won’t even notice me. That used to work… until high school. Two months as a freshmen and I’m learning that teachers like to hear from everyone. That’s why I make sure to do my homework eve

Canis Minor's Top Ten Strangest Anime

Anyone who watches anime regularly can tell you that most of the shows are pretty good. But the fact of the matter is that it's just a form of TV show. There's crummy anime and more importantly, there's weird anime. Here are my top ten picks for the weirdest anime ever. Please keep in mind that this list is purely subjective, so if one or more of your picks didn't make it, feel free to make a friendly comment, but try to avoid ranting.   Without further ado...   10. The Magician?

Chapter 1 Part 3: The Magician?   Her eyes, flew open, quickly to escape from the nightmare she experienced. She would see that along with the moon still out, that she also had a blanket placed over her. With caring hands she pulled it over her and went back to sleep.   "Thank...you...." She managed to say before drifting back to sleep.   Back in the house quirky sounds could be heard inside. The sounds would continue all night and through part of the morning. When they finally stopped,

The Meadow

Chapter 1 Part 2: The Meadow   Kurumi wandered into a thick bundle of tall grass, though calling it tall in her case would be a lie. She had seen what looked like a lake from where she stood and wanted to check it out. Walking through the grass was difficult however, while she could easily traverse it she didn't want to accidentally crush a poor animal because she was careless. She payed close attention to the way the grass contoured to her legs and feet as not to cause that mistake. 'W

Long Silence

Chapter 1: Long Silence   The girl found herself in a meadow, the pouring rain running down her cheeks. Her snow white hair becoming dirty in the mud, she didn't care she only would only lay there. It was already hard to determine if she was crying or if it was only the rain. One thing was certain however, she was upset. Vastly upset, over what might be the last time she ever saw a day of sunshine over her head. What would await was surely a dark cloud over head is what she would think.

Prolouge

The Past   Earth. It has various races living upon its surface. But what about the diverse cultures they each bring to the table? Are the races, that find themselves different then others, to be shunned just because of diversity? Giants, elves, dragons, humans. These four races are what made the earth so vastly beautiful, but over the years only humans remained. Dragons, elves, and giants are all but long gone now due to humanization of the earth. The world that one such girl would come

Harry Dresden is the magic version of Peter Parker

Recently the Borders Bookstore around me have been closing down. As such, I've been there to two different stores. I managed to pick up a copy of The Dresden Files Welcome to the Jungle. This I've been after To quote the author Jim Butcher from the Dresden files comics, "Harry is like Peter Parker, except instead of a science geek he's a magic geek." Now, after this fact a few things suddenly come to mind and make sense that didn't before. Some of it may be the personality, some of it may

I Don't Know Anything About Dragon Ball

No really, I don't.   Well, not MUCH anyhow. Here is what I know about Dragon Ball:   1) Goku is some dude from another planet who wanders around learning kung fu. He starts off ridiculously overpowered and as things progress it just grows astronomically worse. I don't know if they ever show him splitting a mountain in two with a karate chop, but I'm pretty sure he could and no one would blink an eye.   2) The planet he comes from is Vegata. I think he also fights a bad guy named Vegata, w

Random Review: Gunsmith Cats

I love the Salvation Army. They sell a bunch of trash that I don't need but will buy anyway for reasonable prices. As a matter of fact, the last time I was there, they were selling VHS tapes for 10 cents a piece. Now, I know what you're thinking. "VHS?!? Why would you want any VHS tapes?!?", maybe if some of the teenyboppers happen to be here they might not even know what a VHS tape is. Ah, VHS, I remember you from my youth. The constant rewinding, the leaving them out on the floor where they wo

Happy Birthday Deadpool! REVIEW: New Mutants #98

Welcome one and all, this is Marvel's Corner!   Today we celebrate a very special occasion. We celebrate one of my favorite hero's birthday! And who is this hero? Well, if you haven't read the topic title yet, it is none other than the Merc with a Mouth, DEADPOOL! To truly celebrate, I dug into the Marvel archives and found his first appearance: New Mutants #98.   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today's Topic: Happy B-day Deadpool/REVIEW: New Mut

How I Learned To Hate Writing...

HOW I LEARNED TO HATE WRITING by Soberguy   So, as some of you may have noticed, I haven't written anything here in ages. No characters. No fics. No matches. Just snarky message board posts and the occassional private message rant. That's it.   Well, I suppose now I have this blog, but you know what I mean. Stop being a smart-ass.   So the big question I suppose is: "why"? Why after years of relatively consistent production have I buggered off into semi-retirement? Have I lost my edge

The Game in Review 3: Shadow of the Beast

My last entry was filler, and I apologize for that. Unfortunately "The Black Bass" is a game about which I have little to say. Today's game, however, has left me both speechless and unable to stop talking about it. I present to you "Shadow of the Beast". I own the Genesis version of this game, but it was released on multiple other formats such as Commodore 64, Lynx, and Turbo Grafx CD. Essentially, you play as some sort of mutant creature named Aabron going on an epic quest of some sort. Actual

The Game In Review Episode 2

If there's two things in the video game universe that have been argued to high heaven, they are the best game ever and the worst game ever. In today's GIRE, I'll reveal what I think is the worst game ever. Hold on to your hat, because here it comes:     Never heard of this thing? You're not missing much. As I've said before there's much debate about the worst game ever. To me there's a difference between the 'worst' and the 'most unplayable'. The worst game ever needs to be playable, and The Bl

Irritation Thursday

"And now for something completely different"   As we near the end of the first month of the new decade, I would like to rant about something. By this time, most video-game magazines, websites, etc. have put out their various best/worst lists. One game that has come to my attention is Metroid: Other M. Now whether you hate this game or love it, I don't care. Honestly, I haven't played it. What bothers me is... well to quote GameSpy.com... Now why did this bother me? The "hasn't been completely ov

The Game in Review episode 1

I'm going to try something new. I'm going to start reviewing video games, but not necessarily new ones. You see, I'm the kind of person who loves 'retro' games. Don't get me wrong, I love the newer games, but you can't beat the classics. There's the ones we all know, sure, Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter II, Doom, Tetris, the list goes on and on. The point is, I'm going to look at ones that you may or may not have heard of.   That having been said, here is today's Game In Review:     Virgin G

Stuff? Stuff?? Where are you stuff? Here stuff!

Well, a few weeks ago, I had a nice long conversation with myself. Other than figuring out that conversations with yourself aren't as much fun as they used to be, I also came to realize maybe its time to actually try this blog-thing out. Now, I don't expect to have thousands of loyal followers, and I don't even expect to need an on-line store. No sir, I'm doing this just for the fun of it. What is IT, you ask?   IT, well... THIS is going to be a place where I'll review CBUB matches and FPL Char
