"Don't go!" I screamed. I begged. Yet he kept walking with the same quiet resolve. He wouldn't stop for me, nor would he stop for anyone. "You'll die out there!" I yelled, clutching his shoulder, sobbing uncontrollably. He paused, for just a moment. He looked at me with his cold grey eyes. He said "Wait for me...I'll be here". I watched as he walked down the grassy path, towards where the boats would find him. I wanted to run,.but I wouldn't. The entire day I merely stood there, letting the breeze blow my hair as it would. Watching the dandelions on the road, and being jealous - for the dandelions knew not of missing...just of warm days and cold rains... Every day I would return to the same spot. I marked it with a twig, so I wouldn't forget. I promised to wait, so I did. I waited through the cold night of November. I waited through the beauty of the spring. The warm, gentle summer breeze hit my face, yet he was still gone. The days passed. The months. The years...I waited past the days of my children, of my children's children... I stand, the longing look I've always kept. The twig has long since rotted and is gone. I remember the spot now for it's where I left my heart. I go there merely by instinct. Still I wait for him. His promise. He always prided himself on his promises. He promised his father he'd avenge his brother. He promised me he'd love me forever. He promised he'd return. So I stand past my day. I stand now as I'll always stand...'till he returns.

In the house that Jack built.

My father built this house before I was born. I've lived here ever since. I've really gotten used to this house... I've never told anyone this...well, besides my parents when I was little, but they wouldn't believe me. She never appears for anyone else but me... Maybe because others aren't open to the experience, and I was just a child when I first saw her. It was about 2 PM Dad was at work, and mom was watching TV I went downstairs to grab a coke out of the fridge, and there she was, crying. I think I was, oh, all of four at the time. The first instinct of a four year old when they see someone crying is to cry themselves. The second is to hug them. I ran up to hug her, but all I caught was air...

Tim's perspective.

Since then, I've grown up with her being there, in that same spot... Like, I'd just be down there making a sandwich, and BOOM, there she is. I'd talk to her, her just smiling at me as I spoke... Then, like that, she'd be gone. Me just standing there with my sandwich in my hand, talking to nothing but the wall. My parents always thought it was just an imaginary friend. I just, eventually, learned to pretend like she didn't exist...maybe, maybe she just wanted it that way...

Pamela's perspective.

He's returned, but...now the wait feels bitter sweet. He plans to marry. He sees me, yet...he doesn't remember. He doesn't know as I know. Our souls, that day, bonded eternally. He came back as another, yet I stay here, bonded to his soul like a snail to it's shell. I cried the day I felt him come back. Yet he looked upon me as if I were a stranger. My soul shattered that day. I return every day though...to see him. I waited for him, and he pays me like this. He builds a home upon where we promised to meet, and he brings a woman to live with him in this home.

Pamela's pain.

It dims my heart to see him now. My world has grown dead. Plants cannot grow, for they wither before their time. Life...life I care not for. I have nothing left but the memories, which slowly are being replaced by this...this mockery of all I know. If I could speak to him. If I...if I could only hold him in my arms, part his hair, and speak lovely nothings in his ear...but he has a blind eye upon all of it. He and that harlot plan out a life before my eyes and I am able to do nothing but watch. Bound to serve forever on the spot I promised I'd see him again upon. I will stand firm though. I know...I know he's in there. He must, on some level, remember though. He kept his promise. After all these years, we've spanned death to come together again...hope fade not from my heart!

So, the other day I enter the kitchen, and I see her, then it's like...like I only see her, I don't see any room, I don't see any kitchen, I just see her face staring at me with those weird eyes of her's. Then I hear this noise, it sounds like a forest or something. Suddenly everything gets all blurry, next thing I know, I'm on some dirt path in the middle of the woods. These two figures come walking by. I don't have the foggiest where the hell they came from, they just seemed to be there. One of em is this one cool looking dude who's wearing this set of medieval battle armour, and then, the ghost lady follows, but she's not a ghost, she all flesh and blood, right? Anyway, she like...clings on to the man and starts crying, and he just shoves her off and walks away. I'm sitting there thinking, "what a cold hearted bastard." But she just stands there, like she's expecting him to come running back any minute. Next thing I know I'm back in my kitchen again, like nothing had ever happened. The weird thing is, this was the first time I ever saw it, but I got this creepy feeling of deja vu. Do you think I'm going insane, honey? Maybe I should see a shrink or something...
