"...Officer Jennifer Chase!" The young KPD officer nearly jumped when she heard her name being called by the parade commander. "YES SIR!" she replied, and executing the proper drill procedures, marched out from among the ranks of the assembled KPD officers on the parade square. Saluting to the parade commander and the comissioner, she steps onto the platform. "Congratulations, officer Jenny," said the comissioner as he handed out the rank insigna. Jennifer's heart nearly skipped a beat as she held the rank insigna in her hand; this was a day she had long waited for. No longer would she be merely a police officer; from this moment onwards, she is now in the Khazan Mobile Police, the KPD's much-esteemed elite armoured police force; all that training in the Khazan Academy has finally been rewarded. For a few seconds, her mind was in a dimension of her own, before she realized that she was still standing before the comissioner. "YES SIR! THANK YOU SIR!" Jennifer shouted the regulation statement, and as the standard procedures dictate, shook hands with the comissioner, took a step back, gave a final salute before stepping off the platform and marching back to her original position among the assembled officers. *LATER THAT AFTERNOON* After the whole promotion ceremony was over, Jennifer and her colleagues gathered at the cafeteria, discussing how they should spend the evening. "This calls for celebration," suggested officer Bernard Chow, the "wiseman" among this particular group of friends. "I agree," replied a grinning Jennifer Chase, in a highly celebrative mood. "Since you suggested this, why not treat each of us a brew at Greasy Droid's Bar and Grill?" Hearing the statment, the "wiseman"'s face immediately goes blank, much to the laughter of the rest. However, the joking and the merriment was cut short as their grim-faced, no-nonsense captain Jarvis approached the group with an order, as usual, "Squad, meet me at the hangar in five minutes' time. I need to brief you all on your duties, the equipment you will be assigned to. Now, go! On the double!" The newly-promoted officers looked at one another. "Guess we'll have to discuss this later," Jennifer remarked as the squad double-marched from the cafeteria to the hangar. --(fic by Lawman)

Personality: Permission to speak freely? Hey, what more could I say? After all that hell I've been through, from a boring job of tedium and paperwork in the lowly ranks of the KPD, to the training programme for all Mobile Police cadets in the KPD academy, I learned that it's better for me to take things easy while off-duty; you know, let's just sit down and talk, have some good laughs together. Not like most of my colleagues in the Mobile Police, they're always so serious and stuck-up, whether they're on duty or off it. Sure, I'm no different from them when on duty, but at least I know how one should have a good time while off-duty! Don't be so serious... Seems like for this reason I seem to get along better with officers from other departments.

KOMBG MARS-550

  • Power: Commander
  • Level:Ultimate
  • Kit Power Link: Cyberware
Like all officers in the Mobile Police, I am assigned to a robotic sidekick *oops, slip of tongue* I mean, a deputy, which is a specially modified KOMBG Mobile Armoured Robot Suit (MARS), using the same self-contained artificial intelligence system as KOMBG's FASDOW units (MARS units are supposed to be piloted robot vehicles, however in our case, they are programmed with an AI), they are every officer's loyal friend and sidekick, and with an attitude too...

Meet deputy "Metalneck"

  • Power: Commander
  • Level:Ultimate
  • Kit Power Link: Cyberware
  • Area Effect This attack causes damage in a large area.
  • Seeker This attack hunts and follows its target.
  • Ranged and Melee Attack! Attack is equally effective at range and up close.
  • Multi Attack Attack can hit multiple times during one strike.
For my case, I gave my MARS a pet name, "Metalneck", and it seemed to like the name. "Metalneck", like all MARS-550's, is a 16'5" battlemech style robot that smacks of anime designs. Sheathed in a KOMium alloy armour shell, and brimming with the latest KOMBG-manufactured weapon systems (railguns, lasers, missiles, smart rockets, napalm bombs, fusion cannons, gatling autocannons, grenade launchers, particle vibro-swords, positron rifles, you name it, they are most likely to have it, though it largely depends on what weapons the MARS unit has been assigned to), it is best suited for going toe-to-toe against superpowered metahumans and interdimensional terrorists, something which we are all trained to handle with our MARS units.

KOMBG MARS-550, Part 2

  • Power: Mechanized Armor
  • Level:Supreme
  • Reinforced Defenses Defense blocks Armor Piercing attacks.
As mentioned before, my MARS unit is a loyal friend. It always helps to withstand the brunt of any physical attack thanks to its super-strong KOMium armour shell. I always stick close to Metalneck so that I can duck behind him for protection, should there be trouble. Alternatively, Metalneck can switch into "pilot mode" in which I can pilot it like a normal mech armour. While I'm inside Metalneck, I can have full access to all its sophisticated weaponry, and possibly, with better accuracy thanks to the interfacing between pilot and robot. Whether I'm piloting Metalneck or riding atop its shoulder, it always provides good protection; besides it sure beats walking!

KPD Standard Issue

  • Power: Eldrich Blast
  • Level:Standard
  • Ranged Attack Attack usable at a distance (only).
This is every Mobile Police officer's regulation sidearm. A Smith & Wesson LW-10 light laser pistol, issued to me on the day I was selected as a cadet. On normal assignments, this is quite adequate, though hardly of much use against most Khazanian supervillians. Usually, while Metalneck slugs it out with a powerful enemy, I would just stand back and provide cover fire with my standard issue, unless I'm piloting Metalneck - it's got much better firepower; but no matter what, I still like my Smith & Wesson!

Ionic Thrusters

  • Power: Flight
  • Level:Superior
The MARS-550 units are all equipped with small ionic thrusters, giving them limited flight capability and therefore, improved mobility. Quite handy when patrolling, where an aerial view makes it easier to spot trouble; and for flying away when things get pretty thick. Finally got the system upgrades I've requested from the KPD robot mechanics; now the thrusters are significantly more powerful - capable of attaining a maximum altitude of 600 feet, at a max speed of 50 miles an hour, giving better speed and mobility than before. Though for safety reasons, I only fly while I'm piloting Metalneck...

Cyberlinked HUD

  • Power: Radar
  • Level:Standard
All MARS-550 units are also installed with a standard Heads-Up Display (HUD) unit, which also features a scanner sweep, allowing the MARS and its pilot to have a 360-degree line of vision. This makes it easier to target enemies from just about any angle, or just to get a better view, especially when flying.

Cyberlinked HUD: Thermo-Imager

  • Power: Thermal Vision
  • Level:Standard
  • Weakness: Not usable in terrain Lava Cliffs
As per my request, I've just had the robot mechanic to upgrade Metalneck's cyberlinked heads-up display system by installing a thermo-imager, this allows the HUD system to detect heat patterns - pretty handy for detecting concealed opponents, or those who can't be traced by normal vision. When used in tandem with the scanner sweep, it can display heat signatures coming from all targets within its 360-degree line of sight. Well, the mechanic did say that I can't use the thermo-imager while I'm at the lava cliffs, for the overwhelming heat patterns there will only overload its systems, so it loses its effect there...

Police Basics

  • Power: Marksman
  • Level:Superior
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
Okay... I must admit that I'm a bit ashamed of not having spent enough time to catch up on my weapons handling since my promotion into the mobile police, until now. Four times a week, I spend at least an hour of practice firing my KPD standard issue and another hour of practice on Metalneck's ranged weapons. Though I'm not as good as the KPD's snipers, just average. With some more practice, I've improved significantly; under normal circumstances I'd almost always hit (say, 9 out of 10) wherever or whatever I'm aiming at, and I sometimes surprise myself with some simple trick shots, too - nothing fancy, but nevertheless impressive to the average man. On the whole, it makes my job easier in those situations where you can't simply spray-and-pray.

Police Basics 2

KPD Officers' Handbook, procedure A-003; When in doubt, think. Try to know the enemy better through careful observations. A glimmer in the eye? A cracking of knuckles? What kind of reaction(s) do they produce when hit by a certain type of weapon or in a certain location? While I can't exactly figure out what abilities they may have or predict their moves, it at least gives me an understanding on the nature of an opponent, what to expect from them, and the most suitable approach against them...
