Tony Sandler here, but most people call me Vegas, I am what people call...a Super-hero. I originally hail from Los Vegas, Nevada, hence my nickname. The guys in 'Nam gave it to me; partially cause of where I'm from and partially cause I was one lucky son of a gun. They loved me; unless we were playing poker of course. Anytime I was out on patrol with them, it seemed like nothing could go wrong. No one died, our ambushes went off without a hitch and our bullets hit more often. That's why I stayed in the army till the war was over. Not cause I wanted to, but to help save some lives...well, that and I had nothing better to. Both my parents and my fiance were all killed when some psycho climbed a clock tower and started shooting people at random. There was nothing I had wished more than to have been at home then, cause they would probably be alive today; I mean, if I could keep my platoon from getting shot, it stands to reason that those bullets that killed my family would have missed also if only I had been with them. When the war was over, I was hailed as a hero, given some nice shiny medals and told to go home; only I didn't have a home to go to. I became a drifter, a wanderer, an adventurer of sorts. After living through 'Nam, there was no way I could deal with a normal life. I soon found myself moving from city to city, doing odd jobs for food or money and helping those in need of a little luck. Next thing I knew I was working alongside this weird caped crusader to bring down some major bad guy looking to enslave the world. I did so well he asked me to join his team and become a full-time, full-fledge super-hero. I knew I was lucky, but super-hero lucky? Well, the guy convinced me and here I am today, one of Khazan's baddest heroes around. Seems I was a natural at it. Fast, smart, agile and yes, lucky. I actually enjoy this job, gives me a feeling of pride, just like my days in 'Nam when I used to keep my buddies alive. Now I keep the people and my buddies alive.

Personality: I'm pretty much a 'fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants' type of guy. But you probably expected that from a guy who boasts luck as his special thing. I'm into good times, saving innocents and busting up bad guys in a messy way. Life's been pretty good to me, minus having my whole family killed by a psycho, so I'm more or less from the 'cups half full' variety. Being a hero gives me an outlet for the rage I sometimes feel when I start thinking about how my life could have been had I been with my family when that bastard started shooting. When I start getting depressed or angry at the world, I just go out and bust some evil heads. It gets rid of that anger so I can sit back and smell the roses of life. I call it therapy, only cheaper.

Empathy

No one has ever been able to figure out why I am the way I am. Lucky I mean. Scientists, doctors, mages and sages have all tried and failed. Personally, I've given up trying to figure it out I just go with the flow and thank the Lady for the gifts I have been given.

Roll the Bones

  • Power: Lucky
  • Level:Ultimate
Well this is it. This is ultimately what makes me Vegas. When I'm around, pretty much nothing can go wrong for me or my buddies. I wish I knew why I'm so lucky, but then again, if I did, it probably wouldn't work. Well, it's pretty self-explanatory really. I tend to be at the right place at the right time, my bullets ricochet just right to hit the guy even when I initially miss or he's hiding behind a corner, my enemies gun jams at the right time, or perhaps he trips and it throws his aim off. Nothing really far fetched like falling chickens or sparrows flying in the way of a bullet destined for my heart or anything like that happens, its just plain old fashion Good Luck for me, which also translates into Good luck for my friends and Bad Luck for my enemies. You see, when things go right for my friends, they go right for me also, and when things go bad for my enemies, they go right for me, see the connection? Well, that's about all I have to say on this. I'm just lucky, what more can be said.

Good Timing

I tend to get lucky in a lot of different ways. One common way is simply intentionally or unintentionally getting out of the way of attacks just before they hit me; even surprise attacks. It's just another extension of the luck that surrounds me, but hey, you won't hear this cowboy complaining.

Right Place, Right Time

Seems I have this habit of being in the right place at the right time to get the job done right. I don't plan for it or do anything special for things to work out just right for me to save the day by being in the right place...it just happens. Whether its being in the right spot to catch the vial of deadly toxin that's flying through the air, or to be missed by an unexpected attack, or to get in that one lucky hit that takes the big bad ugly down hard, I some how get there. And if I do say so myself, it makes me look damn good and I've gotten more than a few kisses from the ladies for being their 'Knight in shining armor' just because I was the one that caught them after the monster tossed them away. Or maybe its just that my dashing good looks?

Hit'em Hard

  • Power: Martial Arts
  • Level:Standard
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
In 'Nam we were facing guys who had trained their whole lives to kill with their bare hands. That meant that when things got up close and ugly, our men either learned to fight the fast and hard way, or get our asses handed to us. As could be expected of me, I learned fast and hard...and often got lucky. By the time the war was over, I had to actually license my hands and feet as deadly weapons with the local police force everytime I hit a new town.

Start with a plan...

  • Power: Tactician
  • Level:Standard
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
...let Lady Luck handle the rest. That's pretty much my life story. I tend to make really good plans and they almost always work. When they don't work exactly as I planned, well...I get lucky. I used to just rely on the fact that at close range you can't miss with a shotgun, but i have realized that sometimes out-thinking your enemy is the only option, even when up close and personal. Some guys in Khazan can take a shotgun blast to the face and laugh it off, so you have to have a back-up plan when that happens. So if my first tactic fails, i am now look for other options, where as before, i would have just kept on shooting.

Livin' da Vida 'Nam

  • Power: Marksman
  • Level:Standard
  • Melee Attack Attack usable only hand to hand.
If 'Nam teaches a man one thing, it's how to shoot straight. Now if only that was the only thing it taught us, perhaps us Vets wouldn't be so screwed up now. I guess I can't really say that its skill that lets me hit the mark every time, since it could just be plain old luck, but for my own ego's sake, I like to think at least a part of its actual skill.

Scatter

  • Power: Shot gun
  • Level:Standard
  • Area Effect This attack causes damage in a large area.
  • Ranged Attack Attack usable at a distance (only).
  • Armor Piercing This attack ignores normal defenses which are not Reinforced.
I pack my weapon of choice from my days in 'Nam, a good ol'Shotgun. I've always called my shotgun Scatter, makes it more personal. Scatter may be a normal shotgun, but I can't tell you how often I've gotten lucky hits in and done far more damage that one would expect from a shotgun (which is quite deadly on its own). Crowded places and Shotguns generally don't go well together, at least when you care if bystanders get hurt or not. I used to avoid using my shotgun if there were too many people around, but then i discovered the wonderful world of the Slug Shot. Rather than a spray of tiny pellets, its a single heavy slug. So, as long as my aim is true, only my target gets nailed.
