Boratz

I could not move and I could hardly speak. This room I stay in everyday is just complete silence. My wife takes care of me everyday and I am unable to help her take care of our own children. The children I used to play with in this very room. I remember those days. The days before I was shipped out with the U.S.M.C. Here I am reminiscing about the good old days. The days of that I was somebody. I remember I was a Gunnery Sergeant in my days as Marine. I served my country for the price of my life. I don't know how I am suppose to move on; especially with a body that is unable to even operate fully. I have begged my wife many times to just let me die, but she is always wanting me to live to see the day my children become adults. I loved my wife very much and loved my children just as much. I thought I knew what the rest of my life would be like, but I never expected what was about to happen actually happen.

I guess I have to start from when I became broken. My name is Luke Colt and I joined the Marines shortly after I got married. I was with a squad of Marines in Fallujah, Iraq. We were ordered to take out the leader of some small terrorist group known as Lifeless Guns. I can't remember the leader's name, but I do remember the day of our mission. I remember we failed. We were about to move in on the target but something happened. A force stopped us from taking out the target. A shadow, with fiery red eyes, appeared in broad day life. At the time I didn't think much of it, because as it appeared my comrades were being ripped apart by something. All I heard was run by someone. I saw my comrades running, but most were turned into some kind of hellish flames. I turned around, prepared to die, I lifted my rifle to fire at whatever attacked us but nothing was there. My eyes went everywhere looking for the attacker. I soon realized my comrades were gone, and I was the only one left. Then the shadow appeared before me and after that it was just darkness.

I thought I was dead, hell I wish I had died. The military sent me home because I was paralyzed from the neck down. I don't know how they discovered my body, but I was told that everyone else was dead. That small terror group Lifeless Guns were all skinned alive. I heard rumors of a satanic group skinned them alive, but those were just rumors from the military doctors. I was sent home, despite my many pleas for death. I saw the beauty of my wife standing over me for what seemed like ages. She was the only reason why I wanted to live. She seemed so close, but with this new body of mine I could never be near her. I loved everything about her. Her name was Brooke and cared for me everyday after that. My children did their best to be around me, but I could see the sorrow in all of their faces. My children, Cole and Taylor, were best kids anybody could have. Like I said, they all did the best they could, but I could see the sorrow in them. I didn't want them to put up with my life any longer.

Many weeks had passed since my time of service, maybe even months. I never really paid attention, nor did I really care. Things were not getting any better, despite my wife's many attempts of hope. She tried so hard, I wish I could have been more. I wish I could have done something when that night came. I remember she put me to bed. I could hear her with the kids. They were watching television that night. I could hear them laughing. Their laughter brought some happiness in my broken pathetic body. I opened my eyes to see that same shadow I saw in Iraq, it had the same fiery red eyes. I tried to do something but I couldn't. The house started shaking and I could hear my family screaming my name. The house turned to flames and I could smell my own body burning. My wife and children ran in, but they to were caught in this hellfire. I could not save them. I could not do anything, but hear the screams and moans coming from their mouths.

I thought I was dead. I thought my life was no more, but I was wrong. I stood on a mountaintop and gazed upon the world below. I heard a smooth voice from behind. The voice said, "It's magnificent. Many have tried to get to the top of this mountain, this Mount Everest, but many have failed. You, yourself, are now magnificent". I did not know what was happening. Was this Heaven? What was this? I asked who he was and he replied, "I am a messenger of the Lord. My name is Gabriel". All of a sudden I became blank. I have of angels, I've even heard of Gabriel, but I couldn't even believe what was happening now. I asked him what had happened and he simply replied, "You and your family died". I fell to my knees as I heard my family had died, but I still did not know why I was there. I then I asked the question how was I there and he replied, "You were brought back". A tear rolled my face as a picture of my family came in my mind. I thought about my family and those who I served with, they deserved to be alive. They deserved to be here more than me. I asked why I was brought back and he said, "You were brought back to serve Heaven and fight the evils that the darkness brings upon mankind".

Since that day I have become something else. I am no longer a human, or at least not a normal human. I have abilities that no normal man could ever possess. I question why I was given this task. I question why a broken man like me can possess these powers. I'm a broken man, who cannot forget the evils of man. I've seen the worst of mankind and the worst this world has to offer. The darkness is overwhelming and my grieving heart still is infected by the pain of the loss of family and comrades. I was given this power to fight the darkness of the world, but I don't know if I can fight the darkness that has latched itself into my heart. Those screams that came from my comrades, and those screams that came from my family are what drive me to face the evils of both man and hell itself. I am the Guardian of mankind.

Teleportation

     Teleportation: standard (rank 1)

As I stood on this mountian I looked down and I was falling. As I fell closer to the ground and then I was on the ground. I didn't know what it was. I gazed across the landscape and I ended in the places I could see. I could teleport.

Holy Fire

     Fire: superior (rank 2)

After I was given this new life I became nomadic. I walked through the streets of Harlem one night. I could screams coming from different alleys. Suddenly, I saw a gang shooting directly in front of me. Some of them tried to get in their car, but I lifted my hand in rage. Suddenly, a bright white lifted came from the palm of my hand. The white burning light swept over the car. The car was burning and the gang turned their attention to me.

Dust in the Wind

     Decay: superior (rank 2)

Some of the people in the gang were caught in the flames, but one of them ran toward me. He took out a blade tried to attack me. He sliced into my stomach and threw out my hand. I put my palm on his head and watched his body break down into dust. He was starting to decay.

Heavenly Health

     Regeneration: standard (rank 1)

I felt the pain the blade going through my stomach. I staggered back and gazed down upon my once broken body. My body started to regenerate. It was something that only Heaven could provide.
