Nation States WAR!!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, time to officially sign up for our little war RP. This RP is set in the Modern Era, but I do not like Nuclear Weapons, The price Tag set for them is to have a $3,000,000,000,000 Defense Budget in addition to all the money you have to spend on Tanks, Planes, Boats and Infantry Equipment... only after that will I consider it.

To play all you have to submit is your:

Nations Name:

Nations Leader:

Link to Nation on http://www.sunsetrpg.com/economystatistics.php

And then provide some information on:

Geography

- Number of Provinces/States/Territories (3 to 5 is a good number)

- Climate/Terrain (For more info, check this out)

- Natural Resources (List a couple form Most abundant to least)

- Natural Hazards (Mountains = Rock slides, Hot Arid = Heat, Hot Wet = Disease, etc. Go wild but make it reasonable)

Military

- % of Pop in Military (5 to 10% is Standard... 25% or more is Psychotic Paranoia)

- Typical Infantry Squad Equipment for a 10 man squad (Weapons, Armour, Explosives, etc.)

- Common front line tank (Tons, Weapons, Armour, Speed)

- Common front line aircraft (Type, Weapons, Speed, Maneuverability)

These should have as much information as your willing to give, but keep it to about a paragraph at the largest.

Question, are we basing our stuff off of the NationsStates calculator? Because as you can see, my budget for defense is.... $0. Or can I just fake it within reason for the moment?

Also, what level of technology is this? I'm assuming slightly near modernish (and slightly ahead in the future by like, 5 minutes). Which, in RP terms, means UCV (unmanned combat vehicles) are slightly more available, or more combat vehicles don't require a pilot to be in the vehicle as they can be remote controlled). But not PEW PEW LAZORs and MAGNET RAIL GUNS!!!!!1 being given to every single soldier, but still being experimental weapons on bigger ships/planes.

Anyways, for the time being I'll go ahead and post the other stuff, I can change it when you answer the above questions:

Nations Name:

The Empire of Allied Intelligences

Nations Leader:

Emperador Frederico Fox

Empire of Allied Intelligences

History- (I figured why not?)

Being an island nation so close to the mainland it enjoyed a relatively far better level of development than island nations regularly do, and as such was caught up more in the mainland's politics than usual.

The EAI was formed after a bloody civil war on the islands of Bonita and Preciosa, which erupted over the general mismanagement of the people and resources.

Geography-

Number of States:

The EAI, still being rather small, only had 2 states, both of which are their own little islands. The Isla Bonita, "Pretty Island" is the Easternmost island, while the Isla Preciosa, "Precious Island" is the Westernmost island closest to the mainland. These states, however, are broken down into smaller sections, 2 on each island, to better oversee any and all issues that each state may require.

Climate/Terrain-

The EAI is situated in two islands, and as such experiences a tropical climate. Urban development has brought down parts of this, though city planners still include allowing "controlled" jungle develop in city parts, sides of roads, and as general scenery. Isla Preciosa is also home to a dead volcano, it's caldera long since emptied due to a terrifying eruption many millenia ago.

Natural Resources-

The EAI has quite a healthy fishfood industry, exports several island fruits to the mainland countries. Bamboo, which is thought to have been brought in by explorers several hundred years ago, is used as a building material, as most of the islands heavier resources, radioactive, metals, etc. are mined from the underground mines that may have been created by the dead Preciosa volcano. These resources are usually kept by the government to fund several projects.

Natural Hazards-

Several animals on both islands are quite venomous and a few are outright dangerous even without venom, and while awareness of this problem is high, it is often simply impossible to catch every single animal in the lush jungles that surround most of the cities of the EAI. Innoculations against other diseases, such as those carried by mosquitos, has quelled any other health risks.

Other natural hazards, however, are unstable areas caused by the underground mines that honeycomb Isla Preciosa. Settlements are built only after a thorough underground survey, but in the wild several uncovered pits lay hidden, and several people fall to their deaths a year.

Terrible storms, tsunamis and hurricanes also disrupt everyday life from time to time.

Military-

The military is almost understaffed when compared to other countries of similar sizes. Due to the EAIs small size, island environment, growing economy and general public distate of violence, the armed forces make up only 1% of the nation's population, 900,000 people. This, however, is bolstered by use of simplistic robotics. Most vehicles: tanks, planes, helicopters are piloted by rudimentary drone computers or piloted via remote control or a mixture of both.

However, even with uses of modern technology, (and, some would say, a reckless and overuse of UCV) the EAI's Armed Forces are relatively undergunned. Jungle environments meant that the few of the heavier ground vehicles it produces, (tanks, artillery, etc) went unused in their own homeland and are hard to train.

The civil war in the EAIs past colored it's fighting doctrines. An "unnecessary" amount of men and women died due to being cut off from their main forces by the enemy or by the jungle itself. This led to the idea that each squad most be as fully autonomous and as well equipped as possible to survive.

This results in the EAI Armed Forces being built almost entirely around fighting on their hometurf, a flaw most people don't mind, as they hope never having to fight anyone else. The DoD, however, petitions nearby governments for use of their land to train their soldiers, logistics trains, armored divisions and air forces for greater ranges and fields of combat, though this is met with some hostility by the public.

Typical Infantry Squad Equipment for a 10 man squad-

Jungle fighting ruled out weapons too unwieldy to use in jungle environments, and as such, typical squads are equipped with:

  • 8 soldiers armed with assault rifles/SMGs/carbines/shot guns (the use of shotguns arose when CQC frequently erupted in the civil war, the dense jungle environment allowing frequent ambushes)
  • 2 heavy weapons specialists with heavy machine guns/flamethrowers/grenade launchers/rocket launchers

All the soliders are given spare grenades, a machete for clearing away jungle (and, if it comes to it, for CQC combat), and a side arm which is usually a machine pistol. Jungle fighting excludes heavy armor for fear of health issues for the soldiers, and as such light kevlar vests are usually worn along with combat fatigues. In addition, soldiers carry jungle survival kits meant to allow soldiers to rest or make camp in some semblance of comfort on prolonged jungle missions. The soldiers are also trained in survival techniques, knowing which plants/seeds/animals are edible, what to avoid, what not to do in the jungle etc.

Front line tank-

The front line tank of the EAI Armed Forces is known as the Perro, or Dog. The Perro gets it's name from its computer brain which "has intelligence that almost reaches that of a dog!" While being controlled by a computer it can follow only the most basic of orders: guard, patrol, attack this position/force, defend this position/force, retreat. However, to offset it's general lack of combat code and inability for more complex manuevers it is heavily armed and armored. Protected by explosive reactive armor over composite armor, the Perros were overly defended during jungle warfare (where opposing armor was rare). It sports four independently firing 12 mm autocannons built along the main turret. The 90 mm main cannon is overshadowed by a missile rack that dominates the turret. The missile rack can be fitted with anti-tank/air guided munition variants, along with typical missiles meant to rain down on infantry, spraying them with either napalm, shrapnel or simple explosives. Its top speed is 30 km/h, though it usually travels faster to maintain autocannon stability while firing. Due to the fact that no space must be required to a human crew, it can be either fitted with spare rack of missiles, adding 8 missiles to it's original 24, a built in autocannon ammo feed, extra ammunition storage for the main cannon or its drone brain can either replaced with a telepresence system, which allows a human controller to remote control the Perro.

Common front line aircraft-

The Murcielago, or Bat, is almost a direct analogue to the Perro, with some basic changes. It sports one underslung autocannon, meant to scan the jungle floor and protect the Murcielago from ambushes. Along it's small weapons racks it sports a variety of missiles meant to rain down a volley of fire on enemy positions. Again, due to a lack of human crew, the canopy where a pilot would be is replaced with a "face" made up of 2 large forward firing machine guns flanked by two other missile launchers. This forward facing "face" can be replaced by a sensor suite or by a system to allow telepresence. Along it's sides are two autocannons which can be manned by side gunners, and can ferry up to 12 people into a combat zone. It can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h.

Common naval ship:

A small fleet of navy warships protects the two islands of the EAI. Unlike other sections of the Armed Forces, these frigattes and corvettes cannot be manned by computer drones. They sport simple and modest weaponry, anti-air/missile batteries, missile tubes, and, in a few cases, old style warship cannons meant, and used, to bombard areas of the island.

1) If you don't have a Defense Budget then Technically Law and Order can be used to build a Paramilitary Force.

2) Tech Level... Yes, I'm currently trying to find that out myself... I've asked and tried to gather votes, but have only ended up with 3 so far, and that's only counting You, Me and one other person... That's why I tried to keep my own choices... vague.

Do we come up with our own armaments and vehicles within the limits, or do we have to use existing designs only?

I'm not Skirmisher, but from what I see from his post he left his stuff vague. He could have simply linked to wiki articles on guns, tanks and helicopters, but chose not to. Even my vehicles are within modern tech or 5 minutes in the future. But in the other thread he's deciding what time and tech level to use, so we might have to change things if we use modern technology.

Have you seen a Combat Auto-Gyro? I like the design and think that with a little development they could be effective ground support fighters, but the modern world doesn't have them...

So Design whatever you want within reason, if you need help I'm sure that either I or someone here could write a basic guide.

Yes, current votes are leaning to a Modern Setting... but then again there are only 4 votes...

Ahh, then you should've specifically stated this "but maybe I can answer your question since he's not here." after you said "I'm not Skirmisher" as you most certainly did not. Then there would've been no confusion.

But ah well. Its not a problem. Thanks for trying to help.

Guest He who fights monsters

OK. Sorry to complain, but I was the yellow state, in alliance with Jaeger Panzer.

Name: The Federation of Erisus

Nation's leader: Draco "Xenoripper" Eternus

Link: http://www.nationstates.net/erisus

Provinces: Four (South Erisus, West Erisus, East Erisus, North Erisus)

Natural resources: Oil, Forestry, fish, hydroelectric power, livestock

Hazards: As it is a "Death World," It has a heap of natural disasters, owing to the Tsunamis, as it is close to the Ocean. It does have occasional Xenomorph stampedes and earthquakes.

Military: 10% 6.2 million

Squad: PMA Assault Rifle, rival of the M41A Pulse Rifle (4), Bullet proof armor of Non newtonian fluid reinforced by spider silk (all ten) and Xenomorph hide, fletchette grenades( all ten), Anti-tank rifle .90 caliber (2) medics with automatic combat shotguns, (3) and the team sniper with MM 24 sniper rifle, with rivals the CheyTac M200.

Tank: Slow, but very tough, the M19 Great White has Gyrojet like rounds that explode once they hit the opponent, even in penetration. which is the primary armament. Its armor is titanium with carbon fiber plates, the 40 ton tank is rather slow, 27 miles per hour. The secondary armament is a miture between a flamethrower and a Gatling gun, firing flaming rounds against infantry.

Aircraft: Pterodactyl: Very fast and bruising, but fragile, it was made for hit and run. The missiles are small thermonuclear warheads. The machine gun is fragile, but good as last resort due to the high kinetic energy. It can go to Mach 2.4 and is highly maneuverable, putting the F-22 Raptors to shame. It came equipped with anti jamming technology, with infrared tracking rather than radar.

Navy: Erisus has a rather humble, standard navy. The ships are a balance between strong and fast, with medium armor and weaponry, mostly comprising of the M15 Great White, a cheap, balanced ship.

Yes I remember that now as well.

This puts the Territory into contention... and gives me an idea to kick of this war.

I'll change the map to give Both parties the Territory, but I will expand it's boarders so that it can accommodate two full nations. This is the match to the Powder keg of Khazan!
