That's fine by me. Besides, Shijin has always been the working outside of the office type of guy

Ditto for Connor. Now that he's 'freed up', but still SLJ, I might look more into the pair-ups initiative. Beacons sound awesome, and as for not having oen on hand ya gotta admit something that size is boudn to get lost by some butterfingers :(. So yeah, I dont imagne it'd ruin too many peoples stories.

SLJ is SLJ, and within the organization, there isn't a whole lot of attention paid to rank or hierarchy. Having said that, there IS a hierarchy, but it largely exists for organizational purposes, and for those acquisitive Type A folks who actually care about achievement.

SLJ Division 2 is anyone who has passed recruitment. This is your basic level, and is no reflection on how powerful or "good" an SLJ member is. If the SLJ is the Boy Scouts, this is like being a "Tenderfoot." It's a catchall title, the largest group in the SLJ, about half the SLJ members fall under the Division 2 category.

Anyone with a "V" behind their name is someone who has logged over 5000 hours of additional volunteer work for the Sentinels outside the normal superheroics. The SLJ does a lot of community outreach, charity, and construction projects. 5000 hours of volunteer work can usually be completed in 4-7 years. Because it is up to individuals to track their own hours, some Sentinels have invested considerably more than 5000 service hours and just never bother to apply for the rank. Although it ostensibly stands for "Volunteer" the V has also been said to stand for "Veteran" as it is proof that a person has been with the organization steadily for several years.

Anyone with a "T" is anyone who has completed all the available SLJ combat, leadership, and tactics courses, and logged over 2000 hours in as an administrative assistant inside SLJ headquarters. The 2000 hours is structured as 5 hours, two days a week, and is completed in just under 2 years. A Sentinel must have qualified for rank "T" in order to train recruits.

SLJ Division 1 is the label for the administrative staff of the Sentinels. Because Div 1 members spend so much time running things, they see significantly less "action." Occasionally a hero becomes too old or is severely injured in the line of duty, and is moved to Div 1. SLJ Division 1 is run by Deputy Director Blake, and while not a metahuman, she is one supremely organized lady who is a master of delegation. She serves as a secretary for the Board and is on the short-list of people who know who the board members are (the others being Trevor Cale, Blind Mike, and Director Pope of Alpha Control.)

Note: if a Div 2 member becomes Div 1, they may keep the V or T honorifics, if they wish. Many Sentinels wear these as a mark of pride.

Any Sentinel with an "S" in their title is a specialist in some area. This can be anything from explosives to computers to architecture to ancient Egyptian artifacts. The S can coincide with any of the ranks. This typically denotes a postgraduate degree of some type, usually in an "exotic" field (sorry, English and Business majors,) and, depending on the area of specialization, some Specialists may not get called to use their knowledge on for years. Specialists may come from anywhere within the SLJ.

Bravo Sentinels is a powerhouse group of SLJ members who serve as the "Cavalry," working as major backup for large-scale threats. They are led be Blind Mike, and most of them have earned a V by simple virtue of the Bravo Sentinels heading up so many public works type projects. Bravo Sentinels are kinda seen as the "Eagle Scouts" of the SLJ.

The Alpha Sentinels are seven individuals (Global or above) who serve the SLJ in a symbolic capacity. They work together as a team, typically saving Khazan, but more importantly the Alpha Sentinels are part of the iconography of the SLJ, a symbol the public can put their faith and trust in. They are real heroes, but they serve a publicity-related function. They are typically reserved for high-profile stuff. All seven spots on the Alpha Sentinel roster are presently filled. They are led in the field by Miss March.

Alpha Control, run by Director Pope, is the eyes and ears of the SLJ. Some of the best analysts, hackers, and tacticians in the world work for Alpha Control, and virtually all communication in Khazan (and possibly the world) is accessible to them. With their combined technology and brainpower, Alpha Control has an almost unlimited capacity for unilateral data processing. It is a high-stress, high-demand job, and they burn through a frightening amount of coffee every day. Any SLJ member in the field at any time can call Alpha Control for help and/or intel, although Director Pope himself generally only oversees Alpha and Bravo Sentinel missions.

Who are the Alpha Sentinels?
The SLJ is a huge organization. This is generally thought to be a good thing- the larger their numbers the more good they're able to do. Unfortunately, organizing this many people effectively requires an administration, which means that, in spite of the best of intentions, there is always going to be bureaucracy at work in the SLJ. To help ease this image, the Alpha Sentinels were formed as a public face of the SLJ- seven diverse, powerful heroes who operate as an autonomous team, with support from the larger organization when they need it.

In practical, story terms, the Alpha Sentinels are like your JLA or Avengers type of group. They're a tool to be used in your stories, either individually or all together, an easy watermark in terms of character and powers that you can use whenever you need to reference an archetype. There's the brick, the magic user, the cosmic dude, the psychic, etc etc. Naturally, they have their own distinct personalities and histories that set them apart from their generic comic book sterotypes, but by and large they're just here for you to use as pieces in your story.

The seven current heroes on the Alpha Sentinels Roster are:

Miss March
The longest standing member of the Alpha Sentinels is Miss March- a "classic" hero from the Golden Age who has been around a long time and fought alongside the most legendary heroes of all time. Incredibly in-shape for a woman in her 60's, Irene Ryan is competent, confident, and healthy. Due to her longstanding popularity, she has been given a good deal of political control over team affairs. Every member of the Alpha Sentinels was handpicked by her, except Sage (see below,) and she the team's de facto field leader. She's got a suit of powered armor that lets her fly and houses a number of deadly weapons, but her true deadliness comes from her tactical abilities.

Brainchild
During an encounter with the extradimensional superego entity known as The Wishgiver, Miss March's subconscious desire to be a mother expressed itself. Due to her cybernetic implants, Miss March had been sterile for many years, but nevertheless nine months later she gave birth to a biological and technological marvel: Brainchild. Having grown up in the limelight, Allison Ryan is poised, graceful, and just coming into her own as a hero. Being an unexplained miracle of cybernetics and extradimensional magic, she is capable of incredible bursts of speed. She has combined this with a lifetime growing up in the shadow of the SLJ to become a deadly martial artist and brilliant detective.

Spectrum
An accident aboard the International Space Station caused Astronaut Spencer Truman to be bombarded with theoretical particles known as axions, destroying his physical form but giving him basic control over the entire electromagnetic energy spectrum. Being composed of pure energy, Spectrum feels distant and detached from humanity, but unlike some of his comic-book contemporaries it is a feeling he actively works to fight- he continues to rediscover his humanity by emotionally investing in missions and his teammates.

Dr. Raven
An unparalleled master of the mind, Dr. Raven works diligently to support his teammates even as his own personal life falls to pieces. Once a brash young telekinetic with everything to prove, Luther Blackfeather has mellowed in his middle age. A questionable psychic relationship with the SLJ's resident empath, Karina Edelweiss, tarnished his reputation in the superhero community, although no wrongdoing was ever conclusively proven. Due to his financial and legal troubles as a result of his divorce, he hides behind his status as an Alpha Sentinel, using heroism to escape his day to day worries.

Lord Greenwood
A reformed Victorian Era villain and possibly the world's first eco-terrorist, the immortal Lord Greenwood eventually decided to work with humanity rather than against it, and has been a reliable and powerful Sentinel mainstay for decades. A terse, pithy, well-mannered consciousness housed in a living, shifting Xanadu of plants and insects, Lord Greenwood only assumes the shape of a man for the comfort of his allies. His body regenerates continually, and he exhibits complete control over the natural world.

Sage
The most recent addition to the Alpha Sentinels, Callum Sage was appointed by SLJ bureaucracy after the death of his mentor, the Ur Wizard, Zephandi. The cocky, privileged twentysomething was prophesied to be the Chosen One, and is mysteriously fated to one day become the world's most powerful practitioner of magic. Fully aware of his destiny, the powerful but egotistical Sage is something of an odd fit for this close-knit team.

Steel Will
The orphaned son of former Sentinel Stormriders, William Fairweather was groomed from a young age to become a hero. Demonstrating remarkable strength and durability, the once shy, clumsy youth has grown into a wisecracking young man who uses humor to mask the depths of his codependence on his surrogate family. He's super-strong, invulnerable, and can fly, and while Will's physical qualities are impressive, it is his inherent likeability which may prove to be his greatest power.

Anybody have a suggestion for reading order? Like a Mega Man boss progression, where reading one character sheet before another works better?

Miss March
Spectrum
Steel Will
Greenwood
Doc Raven
Brainchild
Sage

When I had just read one of these, it was awesome. But now coming to the end of the list, it's still F@#$ing AWESOME! You know what I like about an Ivan character? There are certain things in a character that you can pull off simply due to your intelligence. You just have to know certain things to do certain things. You know those things. Hats off man. Seriously good stuff.

Oh and Variant and Foil - Hilarious! I still have a few variant and foil covers in my comic stash.

This is the most rewarding part of writing for me- my entire FPL experience is a love-letter to superhero comics at times, and it is always cool when someone recognizes those little nods.

By the way, stuff like this is why you vote for Ivan's characters. When people are doing stuff like this, you vote for them to keep them motivated and to eventually see guys like Blind Mike (or Raya Sayang...wink) see the light of day.
