I don't listen to too much rap, but I do enjoy some Eminem, Lil Wayne's rap stuff (I hate his hip hop), and other hit songs. However, I must say that my favorite rapper(s) of all time is N.W.A.

Commercial Rappers suck. Talib Kwali and Mos Def for the win. Roots for the runner's up.

How could I forget about Talib Kwali? "The Blast" is an awesome song. It's reference after reference to pop culture. I love it. And I must make a correction to my previous post. My favorite rapper ever is The Streets.

eh, treach? Don't say commercial rap sucks and then cite the two most commercialized indie rappers in existence. That's just silly.

I am immediately suspect of anyone who lumps artists together into a collective dustbin based on commercial popularity. There are a lot of commercially successful rappers who are successful because THEY ARE GOOD. There are also a lot of indie rapper who are still indie because THEY ARE TERRIBLE. To dismiss that which is popular because it is popular is the first step on the slipperly slope to douchebagposeurville.

Tis true. Tis true. I was all up in douchebagposertopia on that one.

eh, treach? Don't say commercial rap sucks and then cite the two most commercialized indie rappers in existence. That's just silly.

Commercialized indie rappers. Heh. I agree, they are not Charlie Tuna (whose name I didn't even spell right), but Rawkus is heavy on the indie push. Most commercial success stories are beat driven, appealing to the masses, no love-having drivel. I agree this is not always the case. Jay-Z is amazing in my opinion. He has a line, where he addresses this. He said he used to rhyme like Common but it didn't make cents, so he hasn't rhymed like Common since. That's awesome. However, Eminem has lost touch. Lil Wayne is garbage. Biggie and Pac were tools. I like my rappers to remember what Hip Hop is. I am going to lump the majority of Commercial Rappers into this category of suck (Mind you, there are a ton of commercial rappers I like, for various reasons). However, I can also lump a lot of Indie rappers into the suck pile too. So, it's a catch 22. Yeah, I guess that comment was a slippery slope into douchebaggeryville, so I retract the statement.

Good ol grown ups like Sober and Ivan. They make you think before you speak.
