Can you think of any character in fiction that can defeat Wikus (from "District 9"), while he (Wikus) is wearing the battle suit he wore on the movie?

Anyone with the correct weaponry. The only reason he was kicking everyone's butt is because they showed up with weapons to take out a guy with guns, not weapons designed to take out a mechanized unit. Hell, once they took out what I assume is some sort of heavy sniper rifle or anti-tank weapon he went down pretty fast.

He was using the Denel NWT-20... Basically a 20mm cannon in sniper rifle form. So... yea I think that would hurt, but look how much damage it actually did. Two hits and he's was still capable of running, fighting, throwing pigs through buildings, catching RPGs, etc. Then he was repeatedly shot in the back with an auto PSG1, which barely phased the armour. What Really kicked his butt was that second truck they rammed him with.

Actually what I think really kicked his butt is that maybe the Armour actually makes the pilot feel the pain of the hits so as to allow him to respond better to attacks outside his visual. For a soldier that's capable of dealing with pain, it would be very beneficial, but for Wikus who was just some regular guy... he'd struggle, which is what he did before focusing on it and using it (After 1st truck hit)

As for actual Damage, either hit it with something more powerful than any standard small arms (above .50 caliber) to deal superficial damage to it, or keep hitting it with Trucks.

See it here Warning it is District 9 and does contain plenty of Violently Exploding People and of course Bad Language.

What? After the two shots the suit was moving alot slower (he wasn't running anymore, or jumping) and the suit was staggering as it moved. It was very clearly damaged by a weapon designed to take out armored objects, while the assault rifles on the soldiers weren't doing anything except annoy Wikus. The rocket blew up it's arm, and the second truck just knocked it over. The two hits from the anti-materiel rifle really messed it up., each shot visibly shaking the suit.

I don't think it lets you feel pain (since that could kill the user before the suit is done for) but I think the suit did hightlight impacts on the HUD (the HUD displayed several flashing and disappearing dots, which to me look like round impacts on the armor).

Yeah, basically anything that can mess up vehicles should mess up the suit.

I am not going to deny a Dalek gun would do, I've seen them damage huge aircraft, destroy houses, and I've heard that one pierced a nuclear dome.

It'd say that it was probably at 70-80% after the 20mm hits. Getting hit with the trucks would not only have hurt the suit, but also Wikus, and the guy was clearly in alot of pain.

After the first truck hit though, he turned and fought the Mercs, and didn't really need to Run or Jump.

It may not let you feel all of the pain, but it might give a good representation of it and where it comes from. Also, note that Wikus was only half Human at the time. These suits were designed for the Prawns and only the Prawns, so there's partial incompatibility to consider. Then there's the fact that the suit drilled something into Wikus' nervous system to allow him to control the suit, there could be natural feedback from parts being damaged.

Right, it's only a tank that walks after all. It's it's weapons that are truly gruesome.

From a purely technological standpoint...

One of these, these, or these.

To Counter

1) Wrong, the Tau suits and Wikus' suit seemed fairly similar in strength and toughness. As well the omgwtf weapons seemed also to be on par with Tau tech. What would make the difference is that Wikus is not a soldier, hell he's Never piloted a Power Suit before. Tau of the Fire Cast relentlessly train and fight against the enemies of the Greater Good.

2) It could only hurt him in close combat, unless it was a Las Cannon variant. The Assault Cannons bullets could theoretically be caught by the Grav Gun, or Wikus could grab something durable to hold as cover with it. As well, as long as he's in kinda good condition he could run circles around it.

3) WTF... Your putting something that would classed as an Elite Choice in 40K against what would be classed as a Super Heavy. Still though, Star Wars tech has very Glaring Flaws all throughout it. If Wikus were to get behind it and or under it he would have absolute Impunity against it's weapons. From there he could climb its legs and rips it's guts out, or just cut it's throat with his Rockets/Arc Beam/Repeater Cannon.

Bet a Special Weapons Dalek could:

This is why I hate time traveling races. I have been looking for info on the specs of Daleks for a while now and am still confused. It says that some variants did not posses shields and could be taken down with small arms fire. It also says that only the Daleks of the Time War possessed shields, and that only the Cult of Skaro's four Daleks survived it. Then one of them then goes back in time to the Time War and saves Dravos (Their creator). During the time before and after saving Dravos, these Daleks built more Daleks. One would assume that these Daleks would have shields too. Which would mean that All Daleks should have Shields... Yet, there are Daleks that do not have shields...

So my question is: Does the Spec. Wep. Dalek have shields?

If not then Wikus wins

It is also said about their Weapons that some modern armours can stand up to the attack, and that the Spec. Wep. Daleks cannon is 50x as strong as a regular Dalek gun. If we say that a Regular gun is about several thousand Joules (3000J) then that would put the SWDs cannon at around 150,000 Joules.

Adding up all the damage from the Fight in the slums of District 9: [2] 20mm HEAT rounds (28,500 J/ea), [~450] 7.62x51mm (3,350 J/ea), [Hundreds?] 5.56x45mm (1,300 J/ea), [2] Truck Impacts (~200,000 J/ea), [1] RPG-7 2kg Frag Warhead (??? Joules), [1] 20x42mm HEAT (??? Joules) = 2,300,000+ Joules without the last two unconfirmed values. The Damage Threshold would probably be somewhere around 10%, meaning that a blast would have to be 230,000 joules to put it down in one hit.

Meaning that it could probably survive a hit from the Dalek and return fire, but it's going to be really f***ed up.

Which goes back to my first question... Does it have shields? If it does then it is unlikely that the Suits weapons would deal enough damage to stop it from being able to fire a second round. But if it doesn't then it's going to be ripped apart.

All these calculations... do you just have a lot of time to do these calculations or are you just a super-genius.

@ Skirmisher, their guns are stronger than they look: @ 2:00 they will use their weapons

As for durability of a normal Dalek, in the episode Dalek, it is shown that a Dalek went through the earths atmosphere, crashed into the ground with the kinetic force capable of destroying a forest, and he survived for three days like that before being found by humans, then he was tortured for 50 years, until he regenerated and downloaded the entire internet and took the power from 5 states. And a special weapons Dalek is WORSE than normal Dalek. Oh, and it doesn't have shields.

Edit: Small arms fire? They had to use RPGs to take down the older and weaker variants!

Dude. SHUT THE HELL UP ABOUT DALEKS. That's the only thing you talk about. How about you show you know something about something other than a Dalek.

I'll be talking about that because you can't stop me. And... because it would destroy Wikus?

I said it in previous times, back on the CBUB. I haven't read your posts since then so I don't hate you as much. But I'm pretty sure ricrery's life revolves around Daleks. I wouldn't be surprised if he looks at Dalek porn, bakes Dalek shaped cookies, and tries communicating in the Dalek language. He hasn't shown any sort of intelligence in anything besides the Daleks. That's like someone researching the One Above All until he knows more than the creator of the OAA and then going into every argument and saying "Oh, OAA will win. This is why..." NO ONE CARES.

I'm wrong? How so? You haven't proven me wrong at all. Warhammer 40k has 0 relevance to my post, congrats, you're an idiot. And I'm assuming a Dalek is some crazy alien race that can destroy all of existence with some bomb.
