Ozymandias saved humanity from certain extinction.

The villains of Watchmen were the narrow-minded heroes who tried to stop him. Like Rorschach.

So you're saying that by disregarding human life and killing millions is right? Even if it saves billions?

I'm sorry, but utilitarianism is one of the WORST measures of ethics. This states, like Ozymandias's killing of millions of people to save billions, that the ends justify the means.

There is always another way. For example, seven people are on a life raft that can only hold six. According to utilitarianism, you have to throw someone overboard. However they wouldn't notice the option of someone getting off and kicking behind the raft in a direction, then rotating the person who has to kick every twenty minutes or so.

I'd say Ozymandias was the villain. One of the only villains that I know of in history to win.

At the end of Watchmen, not only was the world saved, but Ozymandias ushered in a new age of peace and prosperity.

The ensured survival and prosperity of the human race vs. the small likelihood of an alternative being reached? I go with the former.

And we cannot look at this from a generalized standpoint. It is always case-by-case. In the case of Watchmen, Ozymandias knew that there was no other choice. This conclusion was not reached due to any utilitarian views, but through observation and reasoning. Ozymandias was sure that it was the only option to avert the extinction of mankind, even at the cost of millions of lives.

Rorschach, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre, and Comedian were too narrow minded to see this, making them the villains.

Sometimes, the ends do justify the means.

Believe it or not I say it comes down to Hoffman who is very good at trapping as well as killing his victims, the new Jason who is a smart a well as brutal killer, Ozymandias who is a genius, Megatron, and Lord Piccolo who actually destroys a city in the movie.

Hmm....I say Ozymandias royally screws all of them.

I mean the guy outsmarted and played Docter M for god's sake.

Then destroyed New York City.

Had Piccolo been portrayed right I'd say I give it to him, but seeing as how awful the DB movie was I have to agree that Ozy wins

They were both villains to my mind. Ozy for killing all those people and Rorschach for trying to throw away their sacrifice.

Did he really out smart Doc M? I mean the doctor lives at all times at the same time. He knew what was going to happen and then just played his role.
