I agree we should be grateful there isn't war on our soil, but we shouldn't always think were going to be safe. For how superior our military is, they sure couldn't stop two planes hitting buildings.

Meh... don't forget both wars with Britain 1775/1812, as well as the War with Mexico.
So im pompous huh? Wish I knew that. Anyway. If youd like I can take off my america *vulgarity* yeah shades for just a moment. Dont get me wrong hayes. You are a smart guy and I love talking about wars and politics. But I dont mean nor was my intent to sound pompous. Also I think we should be happy no foreign army has set foot on our soil. And I doubt any ever will thanks to our navy.
Most recently however no, no foreign army has ever fought on US soil, Germany however, did once operate submarines in the Caribbean during WWII and Japan did of course attack Pearl Harbor, so...

. Yeah, yeah Corvette. The idea behind both examples from WWII, was that those two examples were the closest a US enemy has ever come to our shores since 1898.
I don't think either submarines or bombs have feet.

Actually they were going to scramble the jets in the closest vicinity, but they were doing war games at the time so they couldn't get there in time.
Except the two planes were already here, and as were the pilots for about a decade beforehand. -.-
But let's not derail this, if you want to continue we can take it to the derailment thread.

Heh, and earn the ire of North Korea .
Don't worry, I doubt their master China will allow them to do anything. I mean China also agreed on the tougher sanctions against. If North Korea even tries to launch a missile, I bet China can just easily take it out before it launches.

Is exactly what China will say, when North Korea starts rambling on about planning an invasion on their borders.

A single death is a tragedy... a million deaths is a statistic.
He's right in a way... If NK does nuke SK or Japan... we'll be outraged, saddened, shocked... but unless we actually see the devastation, the survivors, the raw death and mutilation of the attacks... it will have no other Effect on our lives other then "Oh, alot of people were killed... Maybe we should do something."
It's Human Nature, sad to say.

Not so much... China is only about a decade behind the states in terms of military tech iirc. Their biggest problem though, is that they're military is more focused on Land Warfare, not Naval.
Realistically, the US is so far ahead of any other country militarily it's ridiculous. We're called a superpower because the US military is the only force in the world that can project itself anywhere in the world, more so than the entire rest of the United Nations.
That said, they'd need to substantially beef their navy up to even think about challenging the US Anywhere except Asia.
