This is part of an Arc, the last installment of which is found at Chameleon (Marvel) vs. Creeper (Jack Ryder).

This is the wrap up for Cheshire vs. Black Widow. Natasha is in Metropolis where she is meeting with her supposed informant from LexCorp in the park at midnight. This turned out to be a trap and the "informant" is actually the assassin, Cheshire who is there to kill Natasha.

*********************************************************************

The two women squared off, then Cheshire lunged forward. She spun into a leg sweep which the Widow leaped over. While her opponent was still in the air, Cheshire continued her motion into a spinning side kick, which caught the Black Widow in the abdomen. Natasha rolled with the impact, using the kick's force to turn a backflip and land on her feet.

"You're pretty good… for an old lady," Cheshire said with a grin.

"I can't say the same," Natasha replied. "You've got a few tricks, but they're predictable. You've given me enough distance to do this." She aimed her bracelets and fired her Widow's bite half a dozen times, sending the green-clad woman in an acrobatic scramble for cover.

Cheshire ducked behind a bronze statue of two children at play and hurled a handful of throwing spiked at the Black Widow. Natasha ducked and twisted gracefully and the little missiles all missed. This gave Cheshire a chance to leap from cover and close the ground between them again. She slashed at the widow with an open-handed strike, fingers hooked like claws.

Natasha caught the arm and twisted into a Sambo throw. Cheshire landed with cat-like grace and immediately kipped to her feet. She advanced, weaving her hands in a clawing pattern Natasha recognized as coming from Black Tiger kung fu. She gave ground slowly.

"I see you know when you're outmatched, honey," Cheshire said, grinning.

"I know poisoned fingernails when I see them," Natasha replied. "You have a reputation for using them when you know that's the only way to win.

Cheshire's smile slip, just a bit, and she pounced.

Natasha dropped on her back to avoid the deadly claws and thrust her foot into Cheshire's mid-section, throwing her. The Eurasian woman twisted in mid-air and landed on her feet. Natasha rolled to her feet and timed her leap perfectly, slipping a flying side-kick through the narrowest hold in Cheshire's defenses to strike her chin. The assassin went down and wasn't quite as fast getting back to her feet this time.

"Without your poison you're nothing," Natasha said. "Even with it, you're not much."

"I don't need it to deal with a crone like you," Cheshire said. She was still grinning, but the expression seemed to take effort now. She balled her hands into fists and moved in.

Natasha blocked the first punch and countered with a right cross to the stomach. Cheshire winced and replied with a backfist to the face and a Muai Thai round kick to the thigh that send the Widow to one knee. Natasha spun her body and lashed out with a leg, sweeping Cheshire's feet from under her. The assassin landed and back somersaulted away.

Both women were on their feet in an instant. Grinning madly, Cheshire feinted a spinning heel kick, then converted it into a leaping round kick. She flexed her foot and a three inch blade popped out the tip of her boot.

Natasha caught the kicking leg and twisted, slamming Cheshire to the cement walkway. Still holding the assassin's leg, she planted a stomping kick in her solar plexus.

"A boot knife?" she asked scornfully. "Rosa Kelb was teaching that when I was a little girl. Do you really think an old KGB trick is going to work on me?"

"Maybe not," Cheshire said, grabbing the leg that pinned her, "but it got you close enough for this."

She raked her fingernails down the Black Widow's calf, ripping her costume and leaving deep scratches. Natasha gritted her teeth, but didn't release her. Instead she raised her bracelet and fired a high-intensity blast, at point-blank range. Cheshire went limp.

Natasha stepped back, already feeling shaky. She tapped the comm. Unit in her ear.

"SHIELD, this is Widow," she said. "Rendezvous was an ambush. I need immediate extraction with one prisoner. Nick, I'm going to need medical attention too, right away."

Dominique Destine gazed through the transparent barrier of the cell that housed Killer Croc.

"You've outdone yourself, Sevarius," she said. "He's not just a deformed human any longer."

The huge man-alligator drew his lips back from the jagged teeth that filled his crocodilian muzzle and lashed his tail angrily.

"That was mostly Milo's work, actually," Sevarius said. "He isolated Croc's genetic atavism and enhanced it. The result is an immensely strong specimen who is all but bullet-proof. He's a great improvement over our previous experiments with natural armor."

"How so?"

"Well, the wood-louse boy and the turtle-girl both have excellent natural protection, but lack any offensive capabilities," Sevarius replied.

"What about the homeless woman you used armadillo DNA on?"

"Ah, Tasha," the scientist replied. "I'm afraid we lost her. She became very depressed over her new situation and found a way to hang herself."

"No matter," Dominique said. "Sabretooth is out in the field, recovering the last of your mutates. I'll just have him pick up a few more homeless for you on his way back.

"Thank you," Sevarius said. "Now, I think the others are ready for the special experiment you had us set up."

They moved to the next cell where Dr. Milo and Dr. Dorian had a pretty red-haired girl of 19 or 20 strapped to a gurney. She was semi conscious and the scientists were prepping her for an injection of some sort.

"Ms. Head sent us this one," Dominique said. "She was very specific we use Langstrom's mutagen on her."

"I wonder why," Sevarius said.

Dominique didn't reply, she merely watched as Milo injected a syringe of green fluid into the girl's bicep. Then both scientists backed out of the cell and closed the heavy Plexiglas barrier. She girl screamed and convulsed, then her clothing tore as her body expanded and morphed into a humanoid bat.

"I can't say," Dominique said, smiling thinly. "She just seemed amused at making the young woman into a bat-girl."

The policemen in dress uniforms raised their rifles and fired three volleys. Two officers removed the American flag that draped over the coffin, folded it with ritual precision, and presented it to the grieving widow.

Standing nearby, Jean deWolfe watched Greer Nelson as she accepted the flag from Captain Stacy. The pretty brunette was tearful, of course, but Jean saw something else in her face. Greer looked angry, and determined.

The police chaplain read the benediction and the huge throng of police began to break up. She made her way to the widow's side and introduced herself.

"Mrs. Nelson," she said. "If there's anything I can do…"

"There may be," Greer said. "That man… that monster who killed Bill. I want to find him, and whoever sent him. I want to help bring them to justice."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There are the subjects for your experiment?" L. Thompson Lincoln asked. He and Norman Osborn were in the control booth overlooking Dr. Octavius' staging area. Two big, muscular men in prison fatigues stood near the diminutive scientist; a tall, muscular man with a blond buzz cut and an even larger African American man.

"I know one of those men," Lincoln said.

Osborn consulted a chart.

"The blond man is Mitchell Tanner," he said. "He's Special Ops, martial arts, sniper training, a talented assassin who didn't adjust to civilian life. He was at Rykers for multiple counts of assault and aggravated battery."

"And the other?"

"A small time leg-breaker for a Harlem loan-shark. His name's Carl Lucas."

Lincoln grunted in acknowledgment and it seemed to Osborn that he was focusing a good deal of attention

"Octavius," he said, pressing the intercom button.

"Yes sir?" the little man answered anxiously.

"Don't keep us waiting."

"O-of course not," Otto replied. "I have two variations of the process to try. We'll start with Mr. Tanner first. I'll immerse him in the tank and the treatment will infuse his body with microscopic particles of osmium-steel--"

"That's very interesting, I'm sure," Osborn interrupted, "but we're here to see results.

"Y-yes sir."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jean deWolfe was dreaming--at least she hoped she was dreaming. She was standing in some sort of subterranean chamber filled with ritual decorations and paraphernalia. It was Native American but, aside from the fact that it wasn't Mohawk, she couldn't place it. In the center of the chamber an open fire gave off an abundance of dark, vaguely sweet-smelling smoke.

A figure appeared in the smoke. It was dressed like Red Wolf had been except that its head was an actual wolf's head and it was gigantic. A sense of deep wisdom and terrible power emanated from the wolf-headed colossus and Jean found she couldn't move.

"Jean deWolfe," it said. "I am Owayodata, wolf-spirit of the Tsitsitas, whom you know as the Cheyenne. The man called Red Wolf is my chosen one."

"He's… Red Wolf is in the hospital. He's been badly hurt."

"The vé'ho'e medicine cannot save him; his wounds are too great. You must bring him to a place where I can heal him."

"Wait!" Jean cried at the smoke grew thicker. "What am I supposed to do? Why me?"

There was no answer as the giant figure faded from sight. Soon the chamber was so full of smoke that Jean couldn’t see anything, then she woke and found herself in her own bed.

"Holy crap," she muttered.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"So…" Spider man said, "Goliath headed off to Gotham and left you guys to mind the city?"

"Pretty much," Brooklyn replied. He and Lexington glided along, keeping pace with the web-slinger as he patrolled the city.

"Hey, Spider-man," Lexington said. "Would you mind if I got a look at one of your web-shooters."

"Lex loves gadgets," Brooklyn explained.

"I don't know," Spiderman said. "I guess I could. Tonight's pretty quiet after all."

At that moment the three heard the sound of squealing tires followed by a crash.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three blocks away the prison transport van lay on its side. The bizarre form of the Vulture landed behind it and used his wing to shatter the lock on the rear door. The guards in the back had been dazed in the crash; before they could recover enough to do anything, Vulture reached in and cracked their heads together. Several prisoners tumbled out but the winged criminal ignored all but the last, a shackled man wearing an elaborate insulated suit.

"Maxwell Dillon?" Vulture asked.

"No," the man replied. "Call me Electro."

"Very well, Electro. I'm after revenge on a man named Norman Osborn."

"So?"

"So, I will release you from this containment and give you a large sum of money if you'll help me get my revenge."

"Sounds good," Electro said.

"Using his wings, Vulture sliced through the manacles and smashed the device that regulated Electro's amperage. With a surge of power, Electro burned away his protective suit.

"Oooh! Pretty lights!" Spider-man said as he swung down on the pair, flanked by his gargoyle allies. "Is it Christmas already?"

*************************************************************************************************

The only gargoyles involved in this fight are Lexington and Brooklyn.

Spider-man is the version from the Spectacular Spider-man animated series. He is not as strong as comic book Spider-man, and is about a 2-3 tonner.
Posted Image

Electro and the Vulture are also from Spectacular Spiderman, and are powered to match this version.

The good guys want to capture the villains and (if possible) the other escaping criminals. The bad guys are more interested in escaping than fighting, but will fight fiercely to preserve their freedom.

Amazing setup! I think the only one that can pose a threat would be Electro. The other criminal might help????? (most likely not). But with a bit of bumps and bruises, Team 1 wins.

Their focus may be on escaping, but electro can't outrun Spidey, who will take electro out with ease. Meanwhile the two goblins will keep vulture busy long enough for Spiderman to take him out. I give it to team 1.

Gargoyles, man. There's a difference.

Anyways, another great set-up, Dinsdale. Your story progression with these arc stories just may be second-to-none at CBUB.

As for the match, Spidey has beaten Vulture and Electro before, both individually and as members of the Sinister Six. With Brooklyn's cunning and Lexington's scientific smarts, as well as strength comparable to Spidey's own, they should be able to handle these two villains.

Wait, your username is Dark Spider-man and you don't know who the Vulture is? He's Spider-Man's first and one of his most frequent foes.

I that was a typo, I thought I put "criminals". In the setup Dinsdale said "other escaping criminals". The other criminals escaping I wondered if they could enter to aid Electro and Vulture. Lol.
