After listening to some of the songs from the movie soundtrack(again), I realized that I haven't seen this discussed anywhere here on EF, despite knowing that some of the members here are fans of Les Misérables(the book and the play, if not the movie).

So, here is a thread for it :)

I'm a fan of Les Misérables myself, and watched the movie(twice) with my girlfriend, and I loved it. Sure, there were some less than stellar things, but all in all, I thought it was a brilliant movie. And the music/singing was absolutely amazing.

So, have you seen it? Liked it, loved it, hated it? Thoughts?

I loved Les Miserables. Fucking awesome movie.

Not as great as the 10th Anniversary but it was a fuckin awesome flick.

I thought nigh everyone was fitting for the role though my expectations for the Thenardiers kinda sunk when it was Sascha Cohen and Bellatrix though that might be unfair as I'm comparing them to Alun Armstrong's performance from the 10th.

I really liked it. To be honest though, I didn't cry. I came close though when Éponine died, but no luck.

Loved Eponine. Beautiful performance on her part. Her actress also took part in a stage edition of it, which was cool to find out.

What's even better it was her first film and it was a breakout role for her. Awesome.

The only thing that 'got to me', was the song "Empty Chairs", that Marius sings after the massacre.

Terrible adaptation. They left out RoboJean and Ponpon.

Marius is so OP. The only character who can stop his combos is Cosette, and she's otherwise useless in competitive play.

Hugh Jackman is a lucky man. He's in no way a bad singer, but his voice comes nowhere close to being as good as Colm Wilkinson or Alfie Bow. Russel Crowe was just so awful as Javert that nobody noticed.
To be totally frank, most of the cast was pretty meh. A couple of great standouts though are Anne Hathaway and Samantha Barks, who were just fantastic as Fantine and Eponine.
