I think most of us know that while there are female writers in the industry, they're in the minority, and most of the conventions and the like of the comic book industry were, and still are, created by males, geared towards males. So how would comics be if they were originally written by women and geared towards women?

There's a number of them out there right now actually.

Kelly Sue Deconnick's writing Avengers Assemble and Captain Marvel at Marvel, and writing the latest Ghost run at Dark Horse I believe.

Kathryn Immonen's writing Journey Into Mystery also at Marvel.

Gail Simone's writing Batgirl at DC.

Christy Marx (Creator of Jem) is writing Sword of Sorcery also at DC.

There's probably a couple of others I'm forgetting at the moment as well.

And for the question at hand...not by much?

Yes, like I clearly said in the OP, I am aware of women writers in the industry. But it was created by males, and was male majority and geared at males for its entire history. If you think the Universe would not change by much by completely changing market orientation and origin, that's pretty damn crazy.

I can see certain kinds of stories being produced that aren't quite as cheesy and beefy as some male writers out there today. Exploring different themes that ring differently than most of the comics today.
But I can imagine some sexualizing certain male heroes, just to get back at guys like Frank Miller for years of sexualized female characters :P

Yeah we can finally get some heavily sexualized men, something relatively uncommon.

What about an inversal on the most heavily sexualized female character in Marvel comics?

Comics would still be just as good and aimed toward males. Not all female writers target there books toward a female audience only. Seriously I don't know why you would think it would be any different. Gail Simone had awesome work on All New Atom, Secret Six, Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Birds of Prey, and others. She wrote great issues for Action Comics. Her and other female writers prove comics would be just as good and still aimed toward males.

No, they really don't, because from it's inception, comics were aimed towards males. If females had originally written comics, and they were geared towards females, I'm pretty positive things would be different in the industry.
