MOD EDIT: To prevent from derailing a thread further, I just moved all of the posts for this discussion here. We can discuss the state of CBUB here. As we've had this discussion in length before, though, I'm not really sure how many users are up for this again. I know after I've said my peace, I'll be done with it. Anyways, carry on.

Good scenario, Dinsdale, but a word of advice. If you keep making full-blown stories in the Rumbles, there's a good chance you may run out of ideas for stories for official matches.

You say that like it's a bad thing. Official matches are overrated. The Rumbles are the real heart of CBUB.

It's a bit scary that you actually believe that, and I seriously hope you're in the minority. The Rumbles were always meant to be almost an afterthought of electricferret. The Official Matches and Back Issues are what really bring people in.

I don't see why both views can't coexist. CBUB can have two hearts, right?

CBUB, from the very beginning, was about deciding who could beat who in a fight or competition. It was never meant to be a fanfiction.net-like site. The Rumbles still reflect that. On the Official Matches board, however, there's way too much emphasis on the setup. People talk too much about the setup, about grades, and how well written or bad written it was and what grade it will or won't get. They barely actually talk about who would win the actual match. That's why I think the Rumbles are the heart of CBUB: because they are doing what CBUB should be doing, discussing who would win over who and not caring about how the setup is written.

We'll say CBUB has a two-chamber heart... making it a primitive beast. How apt!

I'm pretty sure Nova was addressing khoi. As you mentioned, you've known about EF for some time now.

As for your previous post, I'll be likely be addressing that some time tomorrow.

Heh, you can join the Jedi Council, but you can never be a master if you don't respect every aspect of CBUB. Matches can be just as fun as rumbles. Besides, I'm pretty sure matches have been around longer than rumbles.

No, they haven't. The thing that the Rumbles are doing is what serge first did, back when this was "Callisto's Battle Circle", and then during the original run of CBUB. Before it went interactive, before this whole thing about grades and setups. Remember Frosty vs Rudolph? Xena vs Buffy? Al Bundy vs Homer Simpson? The whole thing with the grades and the setups came much, much later.

Placeholder post. I'll edit this later to make my points on this subject, unless of course someone else makes them before I can.
