Or whatever seems to work. It seems pretty simple. You ca do a what if on just about anything but please be appropriate.
Now I'll start it off with my own What if?.
After playing Asura's Wrath and beating every part of it including DLC I wonder something. If all his powerful anger came from them making his daughter Mithra cry then: What if one of his enemies killed Mithra in front of him?

They might as well be. They live to fight on command. Their economy basically revolves around them. Military seems like not much of a leap.What if the Pokemon became soldiers? I don't know what I would do.

I would surmise it would be picked up by a much stupider and more easily captured idiot. And the story would be rather short and boring.

I meant the long term effects on the characters we know. What would become of L without the Kira case? What happens to Near and Mello if L never dies? What does Light do with his life if he doesn't get the Death Note?
