Childe’s head hurt. The room was dark, the blaring noise of an vicious crowd echoed in her ears. She soon heard a more annoying sound, the sound of two grown men bickering like children.

“All I’m saying is that we could have pawned the Force Van or something.”

“Are you stupid? That van is priceless…plus it doesn’t have tags or a legal registration.”

Childe rises to her feet. The two men arguing were in colored jumpsuits, one black, the other red. Instinctively she pulls her katana and brings it towards the red one’s throat.

“Answer me or I will rend you in two…”

“Whoa, easy there,” he begs, “we’re on the same team. It’s the guys on the other side of the arena you want to worry about.”

He points out the locked gate and towards a massive arena beyond it. It was laden with death traps, obstacles, and a cornucopia of extra weapons. Childe slowly brings the blade away from the man’s throat. She notices two other men in the corner dressed like the others, except in yellow and white.

“What’s going on here?”

“Short version,” Red says, “is that you are fighting in the battle arena. We’re your teammates, so you know, don’t kill either of us.”

“You mean any of us,” Yellow says

“Sure, I do. (Really I just mean the two of us, the other guys are expendable..)”

Childe stares out the gate, the roar of the crowd reaches a pinnacle, a booming announcer comes on over a pa. She turns back to the Force warriors.

“So, the people who run this arena kidnapped us to fight?”

“You were kidnapped?” Black says, “Damn, sorry to hear that. We volunteered for some extra cash.”

The announcer comes to the words “we salute you” and the door opens. Childe goes off with a start while the warriors wait back patiently. They watch as she engages a flying robot. Then they spy a guy in a nice suit. He looked out of place in the carnage of the arena. Red turns to his team.

“So, lets let the vampire and the killer robot duke it out, and focus on the dandy in the suit. Still, lets be careful, and see if we can use the element of—”

“LETS GET ‘EM!!!!” Black yells as he sprints out. Yellow and White follow suit. Red shakes his head and then follows out. The fight had begun.
