Previously: Betrayed by the Tengu and Cyber Shedders, the human Shredder Oroku Saki went to the Power Rangers to help stop their inhuman ambitions. Shredder and three teams of Power Rangers (original, Zeo and Turbo) committed a strike on a facility that the Cyber Shredder fancied.

Instead of finding Foot to fight, they came across The Foot being slaughtered by the Sith apprentice Ventress and a group of darkside converts consisting of chi-powered fighters and unique Force-using mutants.

In the opening moments, Saki had instructed Kimberly and Katherine to take on Dazzler and Boom Boom.

***

“You two,” Shredder pointed. “Take them!”

“Who does he think he is?” Katherine thought. She was about to voice her protest when Jason injected.

“Do it girls!” That was all he had to say. As the first Red Ranger and first team leader, Jason was nearly as legendary as Tommy.

Kimberly was a little quicker and apparently selected the woman that had light powers. That left Katherine with the one that made bombs. Great.

Boom Boom counted outloud, backwards from three, as a new energy bomb formed in her hands.

If she was this slow, in her attacks then this would be easier than Katherine could have hoped.

But her opponent wasn’t stupid – or so limited. Her countdown was only an exaggerated theatric. The bomb went off early and Katherine was knocked off of her feat and landed hard on her side.

“What are you doing?” Shredder screamed at her. She had landed near him. “Finish her!”

“That’s not how we do things!” Katherine grunted watching her opponent form another larger bomb.

Shredder saw her, too and made no move to stop the mutant.

Katherine took note and was utterly offended.

“Mind giving me a hand?”

Looking away from the threat, Shredder regarded her. “No. You will either defeat her in true warrior form or you will perish. Based on your skill and your skill alone.”

A naughty word almost formed on Katherine’s lips and she hoped that some of the others overheard the Shredder’s mandate.

That would have to be resolved afterward though, because Boom Boom was walking toward the Pink Zeo Ranger. Her basketball-sized bomb was over her head ready to be tossed. And she was counting down.

“3… 2…”

FIGHT SUMMARY

Boom Boom has been turned to The Darkside, so she’s out for the kill.

Katherine is powered by the Zeo Crystal. And has no help from that big meany, The Shredder.

Pretty good set-up, leroy.

I think Kat can win this. Yes, Boom Boom has her time bombs that can be dangerous, but that's her only real advantage here. Kat has a good deal more skill and has her Ranger abilities to fall back on.

I agree with DS. Your writing seems to have improved quite a bit.

Thanks. I think the improved quality is because I can't just write it off the cuff anymore as soon as I chose the characters. Nowadays, I have like ten different setups in various draft stages that I work on whenever I have a little bit of time. (Plus Word fixes most of the spelling errors for me).
