So I had a thought the Aliens from Independence day apparently wer like locusts strip mining planets and eradicating all life, their ships were huge and apparently pretty ancient judging from all the cratering from meteorites or possibly weapons, sure they lost when a genius hacked them and brought their shields down which tanked a nuke, but before that it was a curb stomp battle in their favor, and obviously they must have destroyed several planets already before they got to Earth.

So how would they fare against a civilazation with similar technology?

Scenario 1: Vs. The galactic Republic during the height of the clone wars, their huge ship is spotted not far from Coruscant and the Republic sends a fleet up in response as the ship begins to break up into smaller vessels. Can the republic fleet turn back the invasion?

Scenario 2: Vs. The UNSC during the Covenant war, instead of Earth Reach is the target the humans were expecting covenant.

Scenario 3: Vs. The Federation, set after the Dominion war instead of the borg in first contact they get the aliens from independence day, ships in the fleet include the defiant and the Enterprise E

Any way these are the ideas how would each battle play out and who stands the best chance of winning?

Hmm good battle. The Aliens could win scene 2 as they would have caught the UNSC off guard and the Aliens' ships are powerful enough to take out the UNSC. Also the main alien ship was powerful to the point it had to be destroyed from the inside if I remember correctly.

The other battles I have to think about.

The Aliens lose scenes 1 and 3. The Aliens could win scene 2 as the UNSC won't be prepared to face a different enemy. The Aliens come without warning too and immediately start bringing out there powerful weapons. There won't be a ground war to fight. The aliens would attack them fast and powerful before the UNSC could even get ships into the air. Remember there weapon were easily capable of destroying cities.

Aliens win Scene 2 but lose the rest in my view.

The Aliens were somewhere past the Moon, and, according to the movie:

"Calculated distance from source is at three hundred and eight five thousand kilometers. It's coming from the Moon."

And

"They should be entering our atmosphere within the next twenty-five minutes."

So it's pulling around 256666.7 m/s.

A Venator could outpace that thing at 10 seconds of full acceleration. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think Federation and UNSC ships could do that same, which basically means that if the Aliens appear over Coruscant/Reach/UFP Earth the Republic/UNSC/Federation has enough time to muster all their forces in preparation.

So:

Scenario 1:
The last episode of Star Wars: Clone Wars (the cartoon one, not the CGI one) show that Obi-wan and Anakin were in the Outer Rim when the Battle of Coruscant started. They receive a message from Mace Windu telling them that the Chancellor had been kidnapped, causing them to book it to Coruscant, they arrive not long after the Chancellor had been kidnapped. This means, if the Republic really wanted to they could call on ships from all the way across the galaxy to show up to repel the Aliens.

The Aliens also wouldn't be able to catch the Republic unaware, given that they don't rely on satellites to communicate their armies.

We don't know anything about their ship to ship firepower, but even if it's comparable to Star Wars firepower, they are outnumbered and outgunned.

Scenario 2:
Same as Scenario 1, (except for the pulling ships from all over the galaxy), but given the presence of AIs in the UNSC arsenal, the AIs might figure out that the Aliens have open links to their main computers being broadcast on unsecure channels. "We should them who they're dealing with." comes to mind. It could easily be that the UNSC sends them the virus to bypass their shields faster than Earth did.

Scenario 3:
Again the Aliens won't catch anyone unaware, and given the hilarious Star Trek technobabble stuff, it could easily be that they'd find some way around those shields. Even if they didn't, their ships might be able to destroy the Alien ships just as easily.
