It started a little bit over a year ago. The world was devastated by a plague of some sort. It turned everyone into walking corpses. The devastation spread so fast that there was no place to hide from the disease.The following year, more and more people died, turned or got eaten by the zombies, and the more time went on the less people remained. The world had changed, and this time for good. No amount of super heroes could save the human race, those that could, left Earth, others remained to try to help the survivors, and yet some went into hiding.
It isn't known how many meta-humans, super heroes, or villains for that matter survived or continued to live, but it is known that almost no mutants remained. Those that did were too powerful to kill, capture or turn, but they knew that they couldn't help anyone.

3 years later


The world went back a few steps, trees, bushes, grass were now the dominant force. It seemed that New York had become a forest again and the millions of zombies could be heard constantly, as they roamed the wild world. Animals were left unharmed and seemed immune to the disease, and often some animals would hunt the zombies. Frank Castle being a lone wolf all along, managed to survive the chaos, along with his arsenal of weapons he hid in his underground bunker.
He had about 6 months of rations left and would need to move on eventually. He had plenty of weapons, but mostly all were to take down a small army, so it would attract too much attention if used. One day Punisher had a vivid dream.

His dream seemed so real, that he met someone and had a conversation with him. It turns out that the man was Charles Xavier, who had died, but kept his mind alive in the astral plane. Charles told him that he could no longer sense people which meant that there were no people left, but that he wasn't sure as he could no longer pinpoint his powers to individual mind frequencies, and has broadcasted his thoughts in the form of dreams to try to find people.

Charles told him about the zombie origin and said that Mastermind had somehow awoken it and transferred the virus to others via his powers. He believed that if Frank found him and killed him it could stop the disease and might be enough to shut down everyone infected. Charles told him he would guide him if he went outside but that he would not be able to help him as his powers are useless to zombie minds.

The mission:
Frank must travel from somewhere outside of New York and go to Times Square to kill Mastermind! Weapons are his usual arsenal.

There is nothing wrong with this set-up. Hmmm I think Frank might be in trouble here, depending on what kind of zombies he is facing. Mastermind's power is very useful against an emotionally damaged, 'real-world' type character like Frank. He could make himself appear to be one of Frank;s children or an inocent, etc...

The setup is okay so it gets a C. Punisher wins as Mastermind won't have much to do with his powers if mostly everyone is dead and there is destruction all around. Punisher knows this and Charles has more then likely told Punisher about Mastermind's abilities. Mastermind will be limited in what he creates and would have to be extremely smart in what it is.

Thanks guys, I have a long way to go to write well, but I wanted to make it Punisher going out into the city, being stealth and following the occasional mental advise from Charles like a little bit about what's been happening, and about mastermind
Also I did not mention, but Mastermind is now a super zombie, meaning he is undead but has his normal powers, but can "see" through any zombies eyes. He technically can control Frank, but Charles will help fight him off.

Charles doesn't know where he is, but just a general idea of where he last was, and there are zombies roaming everywhere

I wish that you would add some of these side notes into your story while there is still time to edit, could bump my grading of this match up from a B to an A.

I say that the Punisher, with Charles's help, should be able to edge out a hard fought victory over the Super-Zombie Mastermind

Also, just a thought, but how could/did Mastermind's illusion casting powers awaken and spread the virus?

Not bad, Pymp. I think I'll give this a "B" as well.

As for the match, Frank can probably take out Mastermind, but it may hinge a good deal on how much Charles can help him from the Astral Plane. Castle could possibly also gun Wyndgarde down from just outside his illusion-casting range.
