BATMAN/GARGOYLES CROSSOVER Part XXVII
Summary: With all the inmates freed from Arkham Asylum, Batman had more than he could he handle. Even with the help of his usual allies like Robin and Nightwing, the Dark Knight was overwhelmed. Alfred sought out a new ally, David Xanatos, who has come forth ready to offer a helping hand along with the Manhattan Gargoyle Clan.
In the Bat Cave, David Xanatos and Alfred worked meticulously on the mechanical band strapped to Angela’s head.
“I believe we have turned a corner, Alfred,” said Xanatos.
“Indeed sir, we should have this off soon,” Alfred replied.
“That’s great news,” said Coldstone. “I wish I was having as much luck with the computer. I sure could use Lexington, what is taking him so long.”
Goliath looked up from his daughter. “I was so concerned about Angela, I had forgotten about Lexington. It has been entirely too long. I’m going to check on him.”
Goliath exited the Bat Cave and searched the halls of the mansion for his missing friend. He soon came upon a bound and unconscious Lexington on the floor.
“What is the meaning of this?” Goliath demanded.
A petite figure emerged from the shadows. “Allow me to show you!” Batgirl jumped on Goliath’s back. The gargoyle immediately grabbed her entire body and slammed it to the ground. He picked her up again and placed her in a massive bear hug.
“Let me go, monster!” she screamed.
“Why are you attacking us? We are on your side,” Goliath insisted.
“That’s what you want us to think, but we’re on to you now,” said Batgirl.
Another person joined them in the hallway. “What in heaven’s name is going on here?”
Batgirl stopped her struggle long enough so she could turn and see Alfred staring at them in shock.
“Alfred, get out of here why you can,” she warned. “I’ll take care of these beasts.”
“What are you talking about, Miss Brown? These are some of the most repectful beings I’ve ever come across, you do both them and yourself a disservice by calling them beasts,” said Alfred.
Batgirl struggled some more in Goliath’s grip. “That’s what they want you to think. But, they have already started to show their true colors. One of them nearly beat Catwoman and Onyx to death.”
“That can’t be true,” said Alfred.
“It is.” Batgirl glared at Goliath. “Ask him about it. It was the female.”
Goliath scoffed. “Angela, that’s impossible.”
“Well she was under Ivy’s control,” said Alfred. “We can’t be sure for how long.” Alfred turned his attention to Batgirl. “I’m going to ask Goliath to let you go, but you are going to have to promise to behave yourself until we can get this straightened out.”
“Don’t talk to me like a child, Alfred,” said Batgirl.
Alfred turned away from her.
“Okay! Okay! I promise.”
Goliath let go of Batgirl and picked up Lexington. Then he followed Alfred and Batgirl back to the Bat Cave.
Xanatos looked up from his work as they entered. “What happened? Lexington isn’t going to be much use to us in an unconscious state.” He then noticed Batgirl. “Oh hello, I don’t believe we’ve met. David Xanatos.”
“Stephanie Brown, Batgirl.”
Alfred pointed at the body of Angela. “Is that who you were looking for, madam?”
“I suppose so, but Oracle said she was blue,” said Batgirl.
“Blue?!?” Goliath, Coldstone, and Xanatos all exchanged knowing glances before Goliath finally spoke,“If she was blue then it was Demona, which would make more sense. But, what is Demona doing in Gotham City?”
“When the Birds of Prey found Catwoman and Onyx, Oracle tried to contact here, but was unable to. We thought the Bat Cave might be under attack which is why I’m here,” explained Batgirl.
Xanatos looked over to the damaged Bat Computer. “Unfortunately all our outside contact went down when Zatanna took on the Weird Sisters.”
“Wait, Zatanna is here?” asked Batgirl.
Alfred lifted a hand in the air. “Before we continue to confuse each other anymore, perhaps we should compare notes so that everyone is up to speed.”
“Agreed,” said Batgirl. “Let me put Oracle on speaker on my communicator so she can hear as well.”
Xanatos told Batgirl and Oracle the story of how Alfred approached him for help and how he brought the Manhattan Clan out to Gotham City. He told them about all of their targets and all the positions of his team before they lost communication.
“Unfortunately, we have been in the dark for a little while so I don’t know how they are doing at the moment,” Xanatos concluded.
“I may be able to shed some light on that,” offered Oracle. “You were correct in your assumption of Hudson’s defeat at the hands of Clayface. The one you call Talon also was beaten by Clayface. Fortunately, they weakened him enough that Black Canary was able to finally take him down. The big blue gargoyle, Broadway, was defeated by Killer Moth. Just as with Clayface though, Cheraxes was heavily injured during his fight so Katana was able to finish the job. Hudson, Talon, and Broadway are all now under supervision from Canary and Katana. We were going to interrogate them when they awoke about the female gargoyle. But now since we are all on the same page, I can tell Dinah to bring them back there instead. I don’t have any information about Brooklyn or the man named Macbeth. I do know that Brooklyn’s target, Man-Bat, was defeated and turned over to the police. I’m missing one of my people as well. I sent Huntress after the Ventriloquist and Scarface, but lost her by the shipping yard. I’m worried that she went after the female, Demona, alone.”
“What about Detective Elisa Maza? Did you hear anything about her?” asked Goliath.
“Yeah. Her name first popped up on the scanner when they captured Zsasz. Last I heard about her she was with Detective Renee Montoya at the Iceberg Lounge against orders.”
“If we gave you the frequency we have been communicating on, you should be able to track down some of our missing friends, right?” asked Xanatos.
“It’s worth a shot,” replied Oracle.
After finding the frequency, Oracle called out. “Brooklyn? Macbeth? Detective Maza? Is anyone out there.”
“This is Macbeth. Who is this?”
“My name is Oracle, I am assisting The Manhattan Clan. Their communication went down.”
“No wonder, I’ve been screaming like a banshee for help for hours.”
“What is your location?” asked Oracle.
“I’m in an alley by the Gotham City Shipping Yard. It’s hard to move when your body is full of bullets, it’s taken me awhile just to get this far.”
“Oh my god! I can get some medical attention there right away.”
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll live, believe me. Brooklyn is the one that needs help. He was hurt badly by that bat monster and then we were ambushed by a gang led by an old man and his puppet.” Macbeth sighed. “I saw it and I still don’t believe it. I was able to take down most of them before they got me, but they took Brooklyn. I don’t know where.”
“So that’s why Scarface was at the shipping yard.” Oracle switched her communication over to Xanatos. “I’ve found Macbeth. He says he is ok, somehow. Brooklyn has been kidnapped by the crime boss, the Ventriloquist.”
“I will go rescue him!” Goliath announced.
“No. Let me do it. Stay here with Angela and wait for word from Elisa,” said Coldstone.
Goliath smiled. “Thank you, my rookery brother.”
Oracle spoke up.“Ok then. Good news is I was already in the process of tracking down the Ventriloquist and Scarface since Huntress went AWOL. I have him pinpointed to an abandoned airport hangar. I was going to send Kate Spencer after him, but if you think you can handle it, I will tell her to start tracking down Helena instead.”
At the hangar, The Ventriloquist and Scarface entered followed by his large lackey carrying Brooklyn. Tables and chairs were set up, but no one was there.
“Are we early?” asked the lackey.
“I smell a rat,” said Scarface.
A man stepped into the dimly lit area.“That is quite an impressive feat with a wooden nose.”
“Red Hood!” gasped Scarface.
“I know I’m not who you were expecting, but I just love the look of shock on your face. Congratulations on catching a gargoyle. The underworld will be very impressed, especially when I drop its dead carcass on their poker table.”
“You can’t have him. I took him fair and square. This is my power move,” Scarface insisted.
Red Hood pulled out a gun. “And this is my power move.”
Glass shattered from above as Coldstone descended from the roof. Scarface and his lackey took advantage of the momentary distraction and pulled out their guns. Coldstone aimed his wrist cannon at the criminals.
“Give me my friend or die!” Coldstone warned.
Red Hood pulled out another gun and aimed the second one at Coldstone. “Well this just became a lot more exciting.”

Good set-up, JohnnyChany.
I can tell you right off the bat that Ventriliquist is going to be a non-factor here. The real contest is between Coldstone and Red Hood. Todd is going to have a real time dealing with Coldstone's bulletproof armor, arm lasers and immense strength. Red's only hope is if he somehow packed some serious firepower, but that's doubtful since he probably wasn't expecting to take on someone of Coldstone's power.

Good setup you get a B. Red Hood isn't prepared for Coldstone in this battle. Red Hood loses the fight and retreats once he see's he won't defeat Coldstone.
