I. MATCH TYPES
There are two types of matches which can be created in the CBUB Match Maker
- A Rumble
- A Match
Match: A match is a contest created using your points available. A match will be rated by CBUB Judges and their determination will result in your score.
When a match is created you are expected to immediately post up a scenario or "Set-Up" about the fight. The quality of the Set-Up and the contestants chosen for the match are (generally) what CBUB Judges will score you on. Matches are scored by judges with grades A - F.
II. RANKINGS
There are five Rankings
Rank 1: Top Ranking. Must have completed at least 40 matches and hold a score of 3.5 to 4.0 (an "A" average).
Rank 2: Must have completed at least 20 matches and hold a score of 2.5 to 3.4 (a "B" average).
Rank 3: Must have completed at least 11 matches and hold a score of 1.5 to 2.4 (a "C" average).
Rank 4: Must have completed at least 6 matches and hold a score of 0 to 1.4 (a "D / F" average).
Rank 5: This is the special newbie tutorial rank. This is where New players begin and remain for their first five matches. At the completion of a player's sixth match the player will receive a one time boon by having their three lowest match ratings removed.
While in Rank 5, try to figure out what gets good scores (having a decent Set-Up, usually).
III. POINTS
Points are what you use to create Matches with. It takes one point to check one character out of the CBUB Database for use in a match.
Each rank has a certain number of Points available.
Rank 1: 9 points
Rank 2: 8 points
Rank 3: 6 points
Rank 4: 5 points
Rank 5: 2 points
At Rank 5 (the special newbie tutorial rank) a player may only make 1-on-1 matches.
To make a 3-on-3 match a player would need 6 points to check characters out of the Database.
IV. JUDGES
Judges are a special group which have the power to rate the matches of other players. Generally, they are people who have been around the site for awhile and made Rank 1 or Rank 2.
New and existing players can be put into the CBUB Judges group if they make Rank 1 or Rank 2 and are accepted by the current judge panel.
Judges can rate CBUB Matches on a scale from "Grade A" to "Grade F". The sum total of the grades are calculated into a score (called an FPA - "Fight Point Average") for the Match.
V. FPA Scoring
Your overall FPA (Fight Point Average) is calculated like a Grade Point Average as found in most educational systems. Hey, it works - why reinvent the wheel?
Ideally you want to get good scores from Judges. B's and A's if possible.
However, it is better to get No Ratings At All than bad ones. This is because when you get no rates from Judges your Total Matches created still increments without any effect on your FPA. If you are under 40 matches then that is just fine, because you have to make 40 before you can be Rank 1.
Still, bad FPAs from Judges on a match will happen, and for that you may spend your points to remove them.
VI. Removing Bad FPAs
Finally, a player at Ranks 1-4 may use their points to buy off bad FPAs. Once a match with a bad FPA is removed, your FPA score will go up!
Points used in this way will return after three days.
