Here's a question for you guys- in R rated movies, death is serious. Death is big. You see Clyde shoot someone in the face, a man's intestines hanging out in Saving Private Ryan, it impacts you. But in PG-13 movies, violence is treated lightly. You see Bond casually shoot dozens of people, but it never really impacts you. Could this lead to a desensitization to violence among young viewers? Isn't PG-13 violence, in some ways, more dangerous than R-rated violence?

Its all crap. I like violence in movies and games but I'm not gonna shiv a guy who gave me the wrong change.

Alright, my opinion: It needs to be balanced in order to have a sufficient dramatic impact. If someone is dying every 2 seconds, then naturally you're going to laugh at the extreme violence and not take it seriously. If there is a strong emotional build-up, say as in a drama about domestic abuse, for example, climaxing with a single act of violence, this would have FAr more impact than hundreds of deaths in a light-hearted action flick.

Balance really is the key. In music, movies, etc... Too much of any element will dilute the message it is supposed to convey.
