Someone has been tampering with history, providing weapons that were not invented yet, altering the outcomes of wars and battles lettting little bits of information out that forever alters the course of history, and the consequences of these actions are far more serious as the timeline becomes corrupted, from a place in limbo the keepers of time reached out and plucked a small group of people from various time periods to aid them in settting right what has been done, that's where you come in.

This RP will feature your character and others working to preserve the timeline against the forces of darkness, expect to find yourself travelling to any time period and fighting any foe, you may have up to 2 characters but it is not necessary to have 2 if you prefer just one. Your characters can be from any time period from ancient times up to the 1960's

Character Sheet

Name:

Age:

Gender:

Appearance:

TimePeriod: You don’t have to give an exact date though it is encouraged, a period will suffice Example: the Crusades, you can choose from any period in history from ancient times up to the 60s

Weapon(S): Up to 1-4 for those who wish to use projectile weapons you will have to keep track of your ammunition as you won’t get more until after the mission you’re on. Also explosives will be limited to two unless it is your primary armament like a Napoleonic Grenadier.
Also regarding weapons give a little bit of explanation on why you have that particular weapon, is it a family heirloom? Or was it something you were issued? Or maybe it’s just something you grabbed in desperation.

Equipment: All other items that are not weapons, like gas masks, ropes, medical supplies, etc.

Affiliation: Just to clear up who you were with, it could be simple like member of the Comanche tribe or detailed like 101st Airborne division U.S. Army, or if you don't really belong to a group it would be independent.

Bio: Just tell us a bit about your character, who they are what they do and finish up with when you were plucked from your time.

Stats: Not really traditional stats, but how well your character can adapt to and handle a situation will be taken into account during the game.

Special skills: I’m assuming combat is a given maybe you’re good at picking locks or stealth you can have at least two special skills to start out with.
Also explain how you acquired these particular skills.

Special Rules: Your character must be from an actual period of history, they can't be from myth or speculative history, also you can not use historical figures all characters have to be your own creation.

Ten minute grace: Designated leaders will have the ability to go back ten minutes to fix a mistake thy might have made, this is only available once per mission so use it wisely.

I won't reveal the time periods you'll be visiting as I want those to be a surprise, nor will I reveal the main villain just yet, also I promise as your GM I will not abandon you unless something serious goes down in RL :P

One last thing: We're looking for a balanced well rounded group, need some with guns need some with melle weapons

With all this being said are there any questions I didn't answer? Ask away.

Dagger: http://swordlinks.co...ain-gauche2.jpg Barnabas knew that a good dagger at his side was essential so he saved his money up and found a well known blacksmith and had him forge a dagger for him using a bone as the handle, he was pleased with how it turned out and had his initials etched into the hilt.

Flintlock Pistol: http://www.piratemer...mages/1762.jpeg Barnabas took this off of a dead officer and has practiced with the weapon ever since, he's become a fair shot with a pistol and keeps at his belt at all times. Barnabas has at least 30 rounds of shot and powder on a bandolier around his body: http://www.engerisse...er-P3270027.jpg

And through all this he has gained valuable experience, he knows what it means to be in command and to follow, how to wage war so many different ways. The last adventure he was on found him fighting in Spain when he was suddenly plucked from his time.

Special Skills: Navigation- barnabas learned the value of following charts and a compass early on, he's very good at using constellations to guide him having been almost everywhere in the world.

Leadership: He knows how to inspire men to fight on when all seems lost even if he himself doesen't think they have a chance.

Name: Siegfried Waften

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: Posted Image

Time Period: Late 1930's-Early/Mid 1940's

Weapons: Mauser C-96 Automatic Pistol http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Mauser_C96 Standard Issue for Waffen-SS soldiers.

MP-28 Submachine Gun http://en.wikipedia....MP_18#Evolution Standard Issue for Waffen-SS soldiers.

Bouncing Betty Air Burst Grenade (explodes approximately two feet, eleven inches off the ground) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_burst Once more, standard issue for Waffen-SS soldiers.

Serrated Commando Knife http://en.wikipedia....o.#Construction (Top one in pic, but serrated. :P) Personal secondary weapon of choice, perfect for torture or quick kills.

Equipment: Leather gloves (so as to not leave fingerprints), Waffen commander cap, leather triple-strap utility/holstering belt

Affiliation: N@zi Waffen-SS

Bio: Siegfried was born in 1918; the first great World War had just ended, and his country had lost. In future years, you could probably understand how this would anger Siegfried in later years. So, as soon as the second World War sprung up, he volunteered. After several battles, he was recruited into the Waffen-SS, and from there continued to win with the guerrilla style not common in the ranks of Germans. He was promoted to Commander, or as the Germans called it front-line menschliches schutzschild, meaning "front-line human shield." However, Siegfried never offered himself as the one who charged the Americans, British, or Russians. He let others do that. He wasn't going to be the one not returning home after Germany had finished up the allies. His last battle was in Libya, standing beside Waffen-SS General Joachim Rumohr. As he was about to recommend the placement of a few tanks, he was plucked from his time, erased from history and the memories of others as well.

Special Skills: Strategical Expert on placement of units, knowledge of the human anatomy (granting him the ability to bleed people out or torture them using their nerve placements), former major in historical battles and other history (granting him knowledge of past battles and strategies, etc.)

Leadership: Inspired men to charge in uphill battles; he didn't earn the rank of Commander for nothing.

Ammo: Eighteen rounds for C-96; Ten clips of fourteen rounds for MP-28.

Well if no one takes offense from your character I guess he'd be okay, although there is one problem.

You have five weapons, the max limit is four, I'd probably dispense with the FN P90 as it is an anachronism for the time period you come from, forgot to mention you only can use stuff from your era, also maybe a little background as to how you acquired those weapons would be good.

Other than that it looks okay.

Don't have to include close range fighting in special skills, skills are things other than combat so Stealth works out okay, but you might want to list one other thing.

Posted 03 January 2012 - 07:12 PM

Name: Russel Fox

Age: 23
Appearance: Posted Image

TimePeriod: You donâ¬â¢t have to give an exact date though it is encouraged, a period will suffice Example: the Crusades, you can choose from any period in history from ancient times up to the 60s
-Early 1940's during N@ZI occupation of France.

Weapon(S): Up to 1-4 for those who wish to use projectile weapons you will have to keep track of your ammunition as you wonâ¬â¢t get more until after the mission youâ¬â¢re on.

*Thompson Model 1921 .45 smg, with special violin case for secret transporting: As the SOE began to drop allied weapons to the French Resistance, Russel found himself lucky enough to stumble upon the proverbial goldmine. The "Tommy Gun" an american weapon sought for its stopping power was a very good find for the french man. Putting his musical career on hold, Russel decided to put his violin case to much more practical use given the situation. Widely known for his playing, very few would suspect him walking around with his case, however his choice of instrument turned from that of music to war. He had gotten quite good at walking into an area, causing havok with bursts of gunfire, and packing up to leave the mess without anyone noticing him.
-ammo per mission(transported in case): One 100 round drum, one 50 round drum, and two stick magazines(one 20 rounds and the other 30 rounds) kept either on person or in Violin case(whichever's the mor eprefferable option in a given situation)

*sawn-off shotgun(double-barrel): After almost being caught and killed on a job, Russel decided he needed defense for close-to medium range combat where a tommy gun was a bit too conspicuous. Already getting a crash course in other espionage and self-defense areas, Russel didn't have time to master close quarter battle with a pistol at the time. TO compensate for the time being, he grabbed a hunting shotgun owned by his father and sawed off the stock and barrel, leaving him with a double-dose of close range death if he is caught red-handed. A coat and string help keep the weapon concealed and in-place.
-ammo per mission: 80 shotgun shells; evenly split between 12g buckshot, sabot rounds, rock-salt rounds, and slugs(20 apiece). Tends to only carry about haslf on-person, rest goes in violin case or other bags.

*WW2 garrote wire: Another gift from the allies, this close range death-dealer came courtesy of an allied fighter. Russel's skill with this weapon came suprisingly quick. He was skilled with it, or as skilled as sneaking up on someone and strangling them to death from shadows could be. Kept in bag on person, usually hidden or on belt loop.

*OSS Smatchet: Weapon 'given' to by the agent that contacted him. Learned basic close-quarters combat if ever backed into a corner.

Equipment: cotton 'gangster vest', lighter and assortment of ciggarretes, playing cards

Affiliation: La Résistance française aka WW2 French Resistance

Bio: Russel never wanted to be a soldier. He wished to be a musician, playing on an orchestra with a captive audience. Unfortunately, WW2 put a grinding halt on those plans. Barely becoming a young adult during the occupation of France, Russel had to adapt to life fast...if for no other reason than to escape the fate he saw occur to so many who could not do the same. After hearing of the resistance, Russel jumped at the opportunity to win back the land that once belonged to him and his people. After learning basic guerella tactics from other resistance fighters, who in turned picked up a few 'essentials' from an OSS officer or two, Russel began the urban warfare. He is taken out of time during the US's invasion, he was aiding several U.S. paratroopers.

Stats: Russel is a fairly smart guy, and a fast learner. Up until a few months back he had never even held a gun, and seldom thrown a punch. Now he is a fair assasain and resistance fighter thanks to some good teachers

Special skills:
*Stealth- Taught to strike hard and fast, Russel is very good at blending in, whtehr in urban city shadows or in a crowd of panicked masses. In a primed scenario he could enter unseen, cause havok with his firearms of choice and escape, leaving only a stabbed corpse from the shadows or two in path to the exit. He learned from the best infiltraqtors who made their way into N@zi occupied France.

*Distraction- When not death dealing, Fox lives up to his surname when it comes to attracting attention(when he needs to). Whether he needs to play dumb so an ally can sneak past a guard or wildly firing into the air so enemies can chase him down while his partner works, Russel is very good at knowing how to work his enemies.

Name: "Bloodhound" Bob Remington

Age: 29

Appearance: Posted Image
unmasked- short-medium length hair, dark brown. Stubble and illkept facial hair(doesn't shave often). Lean build, 5'6 stature

TimePeriod: You donâ¬â¢t have to give an exact date though it is encouraged, a period will suffice Example: the Crusades, you can choose from any period in history from ancient times up to the 60s
-Vietnam War, President Johnson's run
Weapon(S): Up to 1-4 for those who wish to use projectile weapons you will have to keep track of your ammunition as you wonâ¬â¢t get more until after the mission youâ¬â¢re on.

*AK-47 with folding stock: Bob didn't have the luxury of keeping with the most up-to-date weapons, so he rarely got his hands on an M14 variant or M16. He was there to teach the locals how to use the Viet-Cong's weapons( the most abundant around) first and NATO weapons second, so he made due with what he could get. A modified one with the remodeled stock was as fancy as he ever got once he was forced to be an active combatant.
-ammo per mission: one 75 round mag(taken from RPK gunner), four 30 round magazines kept on person.

*M1911A1 .45 automatic: The standard U.S. Army sidearm, Bob wore it with pride. He is quite the shot with it, as he needs to be to be able to pass the skill onto those he teaches.
-ammo per mission: ten 7 round magezines kept on person/belt holster.

*China Lake pump-action grenade launcher: One of the few nice toys Bob got his hands on. The grenade launcher became one of Bob's best friends. He was more than capable of pulling off great shots from the weapons' range.
-ammo per mission: Four round tube; eight HE rounds, five anti-personel buckshot rounds, four smoke rounds kept on person with strap.

*Cold Steel Vietnam Tomahawk: For all Bob's firearms and his experience with it, sometimes a good blade is all one needs. Handed the modernization of the native american weapon, Bob made good use of it, in close combat and for utalitarian needs. Combined with his combatitives skills and natural talent, the blade was right at home with Bloodhound.

Equipment: Gasmask(shown), flak jacket

Affiliation: U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group, 'Green Beret'

Bio: Born with a sense of right and wrong, Bob always tried to do what he thought was right. When Troubles in the east came up, he knew to join the army. Believing in fighting for his country, but not mass murder, he found some refuge when he took up an "advisory role" to South Vietnam fighters. Apart of the 5th Special Forces Robert, Bob for short, wasn't the most eager man to participate in the escalation in Vietnam, but he didn't have much say in the matter. He spent alot of his time showing the local South Vietnamese how to fight back against the Viet-cong threat...which wasn't easy. he had to pick up the language and hwo to speak with them quickly. At times, he ran into civillians who didn't even know how to count. So he had to teach them everything, from the ground up. By the time the war escalated, he felt he had done a good job. He would have to see just how good a job he did much sooner than he'd ever anticipated. Armed with what he could scrounge up, he and his allies grabbe dup arms to fight off the dangerous viet-cong. He is taken out of time just after the Tet-Offensive.

Stats: Bloodhound Bob is a Green Beret, he is trained to adapt to any situation and come out on top. Whether it's hand-to-hand skills, shooting, stealth trap maing, etc. Anything you need him to do, he will do it to the best of his abilities.

Special skills: Iâ¬â¢m assuming combat is a given maybe youâ¬â¢re good at picking locks or stealth you can have at least two special skills to start out with.

*Awareness: Bob got the nickname Bloodhound from the men who fought beside him. One reason was the irony for his overuse of such protectants such as goggles and gas masks, however the other was due to a more utalitarian skill. Due to a combination of teachings during when he used to hunt and his family genes, Bob had an uncanny ability to spot out anything from viet-cong traps and holes(which he would then have to crawl into, and watch out for more traps) to subtle movements on the jungle floors and trees. His company had never fallen victim to booby traps his enemies sent, not while he was point man with his eagle eyes.

*Misdirection: Alot of times, Bob's missions involved trying to beat the Vietcong at their own game, or at least survive the game. On eone side he needed to know how to cover his tracks and not attract attention. On the other side his enemy combatants were known for traps and other trickery, so Bob had to learn to make traps and be tricky as well. In addition to turning traps agaisnt them, snares, deadfalls, and footholds were just some of the booby traps Bob rememebred from his fathers hunting days to counter the vietcong's guerilla warfare. Of course with no official frontlines, Bob also learned to not get allies killed by his own traps, so alot of them were made to bait and attract intended targets. On a related note, he is pretty good at throwing his voice.

Name: Scott Alexander Redfield

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance: Scott stands at 6'2", with an athletic frame. He has green eyes and dark brown, close-cropped hair. His face is relatively clean-shaven (with the exception of some stubble) and consists of somewhat sharp features.

Due to the nature of his unit's missions, Redfield prefers to travel light. As such, he tends to outwardly wear little more than his tiger stripe camouflage fatigues, a similarly-colored boonie cap, black jungle boots, black fingerless gloves and a rucksack.

Posted Image

Time Period: Vietnam War, circa late 1969

Weapons

Primary Weapon: Scott's primary weapon is a M16A1 fitted with an M203 grenade launcher as well as a 3x20 scope and sling. He prefers to "jungle tape" two 30-round magazines together to facilitate quick reloads. He tends to carry at least seven spare 20-round magazines on his person, for a total of at least 200 rounds. He primarily makes use of M193 ball ammunition, along with a limited amount of tracers. He prefers the rifle for its relatively light weight and low recoil, in addition to its fully-automatic capabilities. The M203 tends to be loaded with high explosive dual purpose, smoke, or M576 rounds. The M576 round is loaded with dozens of buckshot pellets, essentially turning the grenade launcher into a large, single-shot shotgun. In total, he never carries more than eight to ten grenade launcher rounds.

Sidearm: Redfield's choice of sidearm Smith & Wesson Model 19 chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4" barrel. The revolver is his privately-owned weapon, which he prefers to carry instead of the standard-issue M1911A1. In addition to the six rounds in the weapon, he tends to carry at least four spare moon clips for a total of 30 rounds. He keeps the weapon loaded primarily with his own hand-loaded ammunition consisting largely of 158-grain hardcast semi-wadcutter rounds with slow-burning powders. He has practiced with the weapon often, allowing him to master its fierce recoil (which he views as an acceptable trade-off for its superior penetration and stopping power). In addition, he can quickly reload the weapon with moon clips. The weapon is carried in a shoulder or belt-mounted holster.

Melee Weapons: If his kit allows, Scott often carries a machete (with a blackened blade to aid in concealment at night), used as either an edged weapon or for its intended purpose of clearing foliage. It is carried in a sheath attached to his belt.

However, if something smaller is called for, he instead uses a KA-BAR knife, which he carries upside-down in a sheath attached to the front of his left shoulder (like so). The weapon was a gift from a Marine he met earlier in the conflict.

Equipment: Since missions in a LRRP unit often consist of long treks across many miles of territory, Redfield tends to carry a considerable amounts of miscellaneous equipment with him, since resupply cannot be relied on in such operations.

A small first aid kit, canteen, rope, compass, MREs, smoke grenades, and spare ammunition often find their way into his rucksack, belt, or load-bearing gear. He sometimes carry a gas mask, as well.

Although preferring not to be greatly encumbered during combat, on missions that include little overland travel and subsequent fatigue, he often opts to trade some mobility for protection by donning a Ground Troops Variable Body Armor Vest and an M1 Helmet with tiger striped camouflage cover.

Affiliation: United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam - Studies and Observations Group AKA MACV-SOG

Background: Scott Redfield was born to Carter and Elyse Redfield in 1945. His father was a World War 2 veteran and a stern man who suffered from occasional but severe PTSD. However, despite his parents' protests, Scott became set on joining the military early in his childhood. After his mother passed away, his father eventually gave in. He began training Scott in wilderness survival, combat, physical fitness, and more. The boy continued his schooling at the behest of Carter, who hoped that he would ultimately decide to attend college and pursue an alternate career (to no avail). Scott performed well, showing particular aptitude in the area of history (particularly military history), which he often studied in his scarce free time.

After graduating high school in 1963, Redfield enlisted in the United States Army. He was assigned to one of the 173rd Airborne Brigade's Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol, or LRRP (pronounced "lurp") units. His unit was among the first U.S. conventional forces to enter the Vietnam conflict.

LRRPs were typically used to travel far behind enemy lines to gather intelligence, direct air strikes, or carry out raids and ambushes during day or night. Scott continued to serve with the 173rd for two years until late 1967, when he was selected for recruitment into the secretive MACV-SOG organization, which he continued to serve with until late 1969. He had carried out a number of black ops with MACV-SOG, to include unconventional warfare, psychological warfare, hunter-killer operations, search-and-rescue, special reconnaissance, and more. Scott has seen combat in some of the fiercest engagements of the war, including the Battle of Dak To and the Tet Offensive. Having achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, he was continuing to face such battles until he was unceremoniously pulled from his time by an unknown force...

Stats: Scott is in excellent physical condition, owing to the hard life involved in working behind enemy lines in Vietnam. He is a quick thinker and exhibits good problem-solving skills, even under pressure.

Special Skills

* Concealment/Stealth: Working in LRRP and MACV-SOG often necessitates remaining undetected by the enemy. As such, Scott has become a master of the art of using the environment to conceal himself. Although this mainly applies to the jungles he is most familiar with, he is still decent at remaining hidden on other types of terrain.

* Environmental Awareness: Redfield has a knack for noticing small details and applying them to great effect. This has saved the lives of himself and his comrades many times in Vietnam, where it became necessary to avoid traps laid for them by the Vietcong. In addition, this has instilled him with an excellent natural sense of direction, making navigation or tracking through the wilderness easier.

Name: Roger "The Mole" Valintine

Age: 32

Gender: Male

Appearance: Posted Image

TimePeriod: !950's Cold War, to the early 60's

Weapon(s):

Wrist Dart Shooter: Being in the CIA, gave you perks, such as trying out experimental weapons and equipment. One of the things, Roger really liked was the wrist dart shooter. It was small, accurate up to 5 meters, and came complete with a set of 10 darts, ranging from haullscncions, sedations, and poisions.

A spring loaded gun/ballistic knfie (.22 Caliber): This was a prize won off a KGB agent, that had been trailing him. The KGB agent almost took Roger out with it, but "The Mole" was able to catch him off guard with his set of darts. The fun part of the weapon, that it can fire off the knife, and when the enemy thinks you just threw away you weapon, you take him out with the 5 extra rounds in the handle.

M1911A1 Pistol(.45 Caliber): His favorite sidearm, and a momento of a friend, that he lost during D-Day. The gun saved his skin, many times before, Roger belives that the spirit of his friend carries on within. 4 extended clip mags(10 rounds each)

M1918 Browning Automatic Rifle(Bonnie and Clyde Conversion): Something that he kept when he was in the Scouts & Raiders, he cut the barrel to make it shorter, and more easier to conceal underneath his trenchcoat. 3 box mags of 20 rounds each.

Equipment: A breifcase filled with medical supplies. Garret wire, rope, a small amount of semtex(2 ounces), some flares, a low-powered scope, and a belt grappler.

Affiliation: CIA~ Former Scouts & Raiders

Bio: It was June 6, 1944. D-Day. We knew it was gonna be bad, but we still went with it. To strike at the heart of pure evil, we had to take the beaches. We were the first ones to hit them. Bone, flesh, and lead spew everywhere, but we kept pushing, because we knew if we failed, we failed the world. And pushed we did, taking every punishment that came our way, like a badge of honer. Until one day, I accdently went out of line, I was distracted, the sounds, the smells, the sights, it was becoming too much. And then I heared it. Sniper fire, and I was looking up at the sky, I thought I was shot, I felt something warm, heavy, like my chest was being squeezed. I looked down, it was my friend...

But that was six years ago, as the world changed, you had to change to. So I became a CIA Agent, working behind the scenes, for the better good. I get lucky, alot, I come out with deep cuts and fractures, from my many bouts with enemy spies. Though, I was a medic back then, gave me the essential skills to keep myself alive, during the bad times...and then...I really don't know, I'm pretty super stitious, I thought I died, something about to save Time. I impusavliy agreed.

Special skills:

Combat Medic: You know that hippocratic oath? Yeah...I broke it countless times. I was being a niceguy, even though they were the enemy and such. I patched them up. But they kept coming...so I had to give them alittle more extra...Though, don't get me wrong, I'm really good at what I do, more in the good, then the bad.

Survial Specialist: One of the requirements of the CIA, is that you had to be resourceful. And what better way to test that, then to blindfold you, beat you, and air-drop you in the middle of nowhere. You use what you get, I learned that the hard way.

@ Kev: Well yes special things are going to be in effect to help us understand each other but that will only apply to allied NPCs, so people giving orders to kill us won't fall in this category nor will written words, so if you wish to change you can but if you'd prefer to keep that's fine too.

@Hewhofights: Cool

@Ham, Redfield, and AVP Great hope to see all of you get to participate look forward to your characters.

Name: Scott Alexander Redfield

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Appearance: Scott stands at 6'2" with an athletic frame. He has green eyes and dark brown close-cropped hair. His face is relatively clean-shaven (with the exception of some stubble) and consists of somewhat sharp features.

Due to the nature of his unit's missions, Redfield prefers to travel light. As such, he tends to outwardly wear little more than his tiger stripe camouflage fatigues, a similarly-colored boonie cap, black combat boots, fingerless gloves and a rucksack.

However, on missions that include little overland travel and subsequent fatigue, he often opts to trade some mobility for protection by donning a flak jacket and a helmet.

Time Period: Vietnam War, circa late 1969

Weapon(s): ((Is it 1-4 total, or 1-4 at any given time? For instance, is it allowable to have more weapons in an arsenal somewhere to that we can change up the loadout between missions? If it's the first, tell me and I'll change the below choices.))

Primary Weapon: Scott's primary weapon varies by mission. He often carries a Colt XM177E2 fitted with an M203 grenade launcher as well as a 3x20 scope. He prefers to "jungle tape" two 20-round magazines together.

On some occasions, however, Redfield will instead carry an M14, occasionally fitted with a telescopic sight or bayonet.

For close combat, Scott eschews rifles in general, instead opting to carry an Ithaca 37 shotgun.

Sidearm: Redfield's choice of sidearm also varies. He does not use the standard-issue M1911A1, instead opting for either a 9mm Browning Hi-Power or a Smith & Wesson Model 27 chambered in .357 Magnum with a 4" barrel.

Melee Weapons: If his kit allows, Scott often carries a machete (with a blackened blade to aid in concealment at night), used as either an edged weapon or for its intended purpose of clearing foliage.

If something smaller is called for, Redfield instead makes use of a KA-BAR knife or M6 bayonet.

Explosives: Scott has taken to mounting an M203 grenade launcher on his rifle when possible, but when this is not possible he has been known to instead carry several M61 hand grenades.

Equipment: Since missions in a LRRP unit often consists of long treks across many miles of territory, Redfield tends to carry a considerable amounts of miscellaneous equipment with him, since resupply cannot be relied on in such operations.

A small first aid kit, canteen, rope, compass, MREs, smoke grenades, and spare ammunition often find their way into his rucksack, belt, or load-bearing gear.
