Vanilor knew she would be tempted to use her lightning in this environment. That's why, as he entered the water, he tucked his limbs and wings close to his body. As he submerged deeper, the current would be attracted to the surface of the water, even if the lightning itself touched Vanilor. For, in lightning, it was the current that was deadly. His mass meant he would be resistant as well, adding to the defense, although the stinging and tingling was undeniable, despite the fact that the size of the lake helped distribute and disperse its power. Also, he used his tail as a power supply, sinking deeper into the water. If she stopped her assault, she might realize they were now dozens of yards below the surface, the dive having helped add to the velocity. If Katie tried to swim away, he'd bite her and prevent escape, though he wouldn't bite hard enough to sever anything.
