Fight 1 – Bobu vs. Victor

Arena

The Great Pyramid of Giza
The last surviving Wonder of the World is in very real danger of joining the others, as two forces lock horns dangerously close to it.

Heat – That is all that was on the mind of Isamu Bobu that evening…heat. It was blistering and unbearable. Although the Sentinels had set up a diminutive tent with full accommodations for him before the match, it was still so hot. “First snow, not heat…surely someone is trying to kill us.” He said aloud to no one in particular. While he waited, he tried to put his mind somewhere else, but all he could think of is who would come up with such a horrid location for fighting. In his studies, he had heard of this Masuta Tengoku before. Numerous times, the name had come up about the old miser who lived in some unknown mountain region of Japan. It is rumored that children who are sent to the Heavenly Master never return to civilization. Now that Master was here and torturing him. What had he done wrong in his past life, he thought. You should not complain, Isamu Bobu, heir to the Oniwabanshū.” Bobu leaped in surprise at the voice of his grandfather, “Could you warn someone when you plan on doing something like that?” Bobu said. “These trials can only serve to make you stronger.” Ryuunosuke continued, ignoring Bobu’s complaints. “…Or dead.” Bobu persisted. “Don’t be such an old lady. Get up; you need to warm up before battle. Your futile belligerence will not save you from this next encounter. Perhaps a few laps around the Pyramid will loosen you up.”

“In this heat?” Bobu interjected. “Get up!” Ryuunosuke yelled and Bobu sat straight up and headed out the tent to begin.

Meanwhile, Victor Vandal meandered around the foot of the Pyramid. He touched its rough, hot surface and pondered its great, long life. “Such a marvel…” He said softly. Casual observers fight fans and the media shouted from a distance at the fighter for autographs and interviews. Victor ignored them and carried on his contemplation. Like the quiet observer he was, Victor studied his surroundings and got a feel of the heat to prepare for his next match. As he did, he heard the soft padding of running feet quickly approaching. Looking over his shoulder, he saw his opponent racing past while talking to him self. “The kid’s mad.” Vandal thought, “I’m fighting a madman in the next round. Good to know.” Victor continued on tranquilly waiting for the fight to begin.

Kabuki: Hello world and welcome to the 1st annual Masuta Tengoku World Martial Arts Tournament. I am your host Kabuki and to my left, the honorable Masuta Tengoku himself.

Masuta Tengoku: Truly it is my honor to be here with you, Kabuki-Sama. I have you to thank for my joining the respectable establishment that is the Sentinels.

Kabuki: …and it is my privilege to have someone of such high status in the Martial Arts community, honorable sensei. Now, in this next round…

Suddenly, with a loud crack the doorway to the commentator’s room flies open. Without a moment’s pause, Doc Velocity rams into Kabuki nearly knocking her out of her seat. She takes a place in a stool next to Kabuki and leans closely into Ten’s face.

Doc Velocity: YUR BIG!!

Masuta Tengoku: Kabuki? You said our honorable Khazanian President had an important meeting…

Kabuki: I…um…she?!?

Doc Velocity: No way dude? She totally sent me out to get Chicken Buckets. Strange thing is there aren’t too many Chicken Bucket restaurants in this part of town? I looked and looked and looked and looked and…

Masuta Tengoku: Thank you. I…

Doc Velocity: …and looked and looked and looked!! …HEY! YOU LOOK LIKE THAT GUY FROM STREET FIGHTER!

Kabuki (With her head on the desk): Fight! For the love of god please fight.

Rules: The first round is based completely on powers. Each fighter can debate on why they think their fighter would win based on the powers they have. PLEASE TAKE THE ENVIRONMENT INTO CONSIDERATION. This is a good opportunity for some of the more experienced FPLers to help new users understand the powers and how we usually use them or how they can be used creatively in combination with each other. If the competitors would like, they can RP their fight.

Voting: This round will be determined by Poll. Please try not to vote on the round until you have truly heard all arguments and determined a winner based solely on fighting skills.

Bobu Isamu

All stats: Standard

Iron Will: Superior
Reflection: Standard
Martial Arts: Superior
Digging: Superior

Victor Vandal

All Stats: Standard except Mind: Superior

Detective: Standard
Regeneration: Superior
Tactician: Standard
Martial Arts: Superior

Very tough fight here. Both are superior fighters, but Victor is just a very cerebral fighter - a thinker. A lot of thinking isn't going to take down Bobu immediately. Iron Will and Reflection make for a very strong defensive cocktail and without any heavy agility or real defense, a well placed Digging strike could end Victor. I mean has anyone read the power description for Digging? Now apply that to a punch like Bobu has done. If he hits, Victor, he's punching a hole through his head. He'll need every bit of that regeneration to heal it and while it is healing, Bobu is free to attack again. I'm leaning towards Bobu. She also has the will power to tough through that treacherous heat.

I agree, this would be a very tough fight for both characters. Both are great fighters in an environment that really benefits no one. However, the thing that tips this is Victor's favor is his smarts. No, he can't think his opponent into submission, but he's one of the smarter fighters of this tournament. He has the skills plus the brains the back it up.

The only thing that will give Victor a problem is that digging power that Bobu has up his sleeve. It's also hard to have an arguement against the power, as from his character sheet I didn't draw much on how he used it. If it's just a really hard punch that 'digs' into things then that could be a problem for Victor, but doesn't mean his quest to become a Martial Arts master is over. Victor, using his detective and tactician prowess, will simply have to figure a way to get in close with this opponent as usual and end this fight quickly. Even ultimate iron will doesn't mean you can ignore the need to breathe.
