why do people talk about how bad ass vegeta

I'll just leave this here.

It was Cell who came back from his timeline and completely screwed up the main storyline's timeline. If you look at Trunks' timeline, there was no Buu nor Babidi. So had it not been for Cell, they may not have even existed. This is pure speculation, of course.

;) Maybe the faster they got rid of Cell, the less timeline altering would've occurred, and Babidi and Buu never even show up. Also,

The good guys always find a way to win. :P

I would like to point out that I have never talked about how badass Vegeta is. Before coming to the site, I would have assumed it was some sort of weird British vegetable spread.

When they sent a baby to pretty much annihilate all life on a planet, I'm not sure I'd call them good. It was only due to a blow to his head, that Goku turned out different from all the rest.

The saiyans were just as bad as Frieza, they loved killing and fighting. It was their way of life, so to us they are evil, but to themselves they see no problem.

The saiyans were just as bad as Frieza, they loved killing and fighting. It was their way of life, so to us they are evil, but to themselves they see no problem.

This is my point though. If they are just as bad as Frieza, how can they be the good guys? ;)

Ask yourself what's more likely to happen, Bardock killing Toma for incompetence or Frieza killing Zarbon for the same reason?

Ask yourself why Vegeta killed Nappa for incompetence? No guarantee King Vegeta was any better. Bardock may have been a little less evil, but that doesn't mean they all were like that.

Vegeta was also an extremist among Saiyans. Raditz obviously thought they'd bring him back and Nappa wanted to, but Vegeta didn't. King Vegeta obviously cared enough about his son to go against Frieza, someone far more powerful, for him. Vegeta may be a little more evil, but that doesn't mean they all were like that.

I'd say the Saiyans ammount to a Chaotic neutral/Lawful Evil Race. They live for battle, but most recognize the need for a structured society not based on a rule of law, as versus mere survival of the fittest (which is where Vegeta would originally fall I think)

Well, we never saw Frieza try to kill King Cold either. Their family ties may have been just as tight as the Saiyan ones. Who knows how the Saiyans would've treated a subordinate of a different species.
