Ewoks.

Ewoks aren't nearly on par with Starcraft Terran Marines.

It's not nonsense! It's true... Fine. I'll post something seriously, [spoiler]even though it is true...
A bunch of HALO Spartans in some Extremis Iron Man suits...
A lot of Specimen 6's with bazookas...
The Jesse James Gang with M-16's...
A regiment of Necrons, perhaps?...
A clan of Predators that have Omni-Casters?...

You should first post what the Terran Marines are capable of, so we know what we have to match.

Well here is an analysis for the gauss rifle. I'm not too sure by I think in one cutscene the spikes bounce right off a Marine's armor.

Thankfully rice, I have an actual reply. The truth is there are many types of infantry that would stack up against the terran marine.

First and foremost, the 40k space marine would easily trump nearly any number of terran marines that were thrown at him thanks to highly superior training, enhancement, genetics, firepower, and support.

Second, we have the starship troopers. not the ones from the film adaptation (those guys rank below storm troopers), but the ones from the original novel, who are said to have heavy armor (High powered slugs bounced off them), heavier firepower (shoulder mounted nukes anyone?), and mobility (jetpacks. always the jetpacks).

Third, the zone troopers from c&c 3. Basically the same design but with jetpacks and railguns.

Fourth, the fremen from dune. They have far better protection then terran marines and they are far more competent warriors. nothing a terran marine has can really hold a candle to a lasgun, and their gauss rifles and other weapons would be useless against shields. I also feel the need to mention again that their competence and skill are their greatest assets, and was what enabled them to conquer the entire known universe, defeating armies who possessed the exact same weapons as they did.

The terran marines, while the they look and act like badasses, are not that high on the scale of ass kicking future soldiers

Which scene? Because as I recall the marines seem to get slaughtered by hydralisks in every cutscene where they are shown.

I fail to see how that scene in anyway shows that a marine can withstand Hydralisk spikes, the only thing it shows, is that the Marine armor can withstand at least one shot from their own Gauss rifle.

Since we've actually seen other scenes, where Hydralisk spikes penetrate Marine armor, the only thing we've learned is that the marine Gauss rifle, is less effective than the Hydralisk Spikes.

Right here.

A: that was a gauss rifle

B: the armour never reflected it. He took the shot in the armour's large bulky shoulders and used the force from the shot to spin around and shoot tychus. Earlier on it shows terran marines getting wrecked by hydralisks who's shots travel several times slower (visibly anyways, I could be wrong). As I said the terran marines really don't stack up well in the grand scheme of badass space soldiers.
